For your next Jerry song, please do "She Got the Gold Mine, I Got the Shaft". Great tune. Also, I remember Jerry in a movie called The Survivors, where Jerry played (I kid you not) a hitman. The movie also starred Robin Williams and Walter Matthau.

"Gator" (1976) is a movie - sequel to "White Lightening" (1973) - both starring Burt Reynolds (as Gator McKlusky) with Jerry Reed in "Gator" as a hitman. Worth checking out over on the movie channel.

White Lightning in my opinion is Burt's best movie.
This is the title song for a movie character, Gator Mcklusky, played by Burt Reynolds in 'White Lightning' and the sequel, 'Gator'. Unlike 'Smokey and The Bandit', both White Lightning and Gator are action/dramas with much darker tones.

Need to check out “Guitar Man”. Great song, so good, Elvis covered it, and had to get Jerry Reed to come from a fishing trip to play the guitar for his recording, cause nobody could do it like Jerry. And another fun fact, Elvis would always would get like 50% of the rights to the songs he covered, and after Jerry did his thing at the studio with Elvis, one of this people came up to Jerry and told him Elvis usually gets X amount of the song rights, Jerry said NO WAY. But Elvis like it so much, he didnt do anything about it. In fact, Elvis wanted to cover Dolly Parton’s i will always love you, but he never did, because Dolly wouldnt give any of the rights over to her song, even though she would have loved for him to do it.
Love your selection on this. Jerry Reed has been one of my favourite artists since the sixties. Try out When You're Hot, You're Hot.

Great reaction. Jerry Reed is one of the best storytellers. She Got The Goldmine I Got The Shaft , and When You're Hot You're Hot are a couple really good ones by him. Yall should do some Roger Miller he's another good storyteller.

Jay & Amber I think that it is time for reaction of the movie, Gator with Jerry Reed aka "Bama" McCall and Burt Reynolds aka "Gator" McKlusky. This is Burt's 1st as a director of a movie. Burt honored his college professor, Watson B. Duncan III by having Duncan in the movie. Duncan is well known in South Florida especially Burt's home county of Palm Beach, Florida.

2 movies about Gator McKlusky, White Lightning and Gator. Both starring Burt Reynolds. In Gator Jerry Reed plays Bama McCall
He is one of the most underrated guitar players ever. Great storyteller.
Jerry Reed one of the greats in the world of guitar players, He also wrote great songs too ..Guitar Man ...This thing called love , Last train to clarksville .. ... One of my Hero's
Gator was also a Burt Reynolds movie. Y’all must watch Jerry live….it’s special! The guitar work you hear is Jerry.
If your Mom is a Jerry Reed fan you definitely should listen to her more often😉
A great 70s country song with a unique voice is Earl Thomas Conley with "Holding Her and Loving You". A Keith Whitley type voice and I am sure the J&A team will love it.
"She Got the Gold Mine, I Got the Shaft" and "The Bird" are great and funny Jerry Reed story songs.
Jerry Reed is a heck of a guitar player too , check out the song EASTBOUND & DOWN There's a live video of it of him singing and playing Keep up the good work Rob Squad Couple more songs that are good SHE GOT THE GOLDMINE (I got the shaft) Or WHEN YOU'RE HOT YOU'RE HOT

Jerry was just so good. Two more great songs from Jerry are Guitar Man and a song about divorce called She Got the Goldmine, and I Got the Shaft. Also for another story song, Charlie Daniels Band's song called The Legend of Wooly Swamp.
This is from two Burt Reynolds movies Gator & white lighting both from the 70s. I love you guys God Bless you and your family them best babies 🙏🇺🇸
He was so under rated. Jerry could do anything
He was one of the greatest guitarists of all time
Great Burt Reynolds movie from the 70s
Another great reaction, as always. Can't go wrong with Jerry Reed, he's a legend! I've been watching your music reactions from the beginning, and if I may, I'd like to offer one bit of constructive criticism. Your background has gotten much busier with all those great pictures of musicians, but it's so busy now, that the two of you don't stand out as much as you used to. It's like visually, you're fading into the background. Do what you like with that advice, and keep making the great music and movie reactions!
There is another fun "trucking" movie called "Convoy". I know you guys would like it a lot. It's fun, has catchy tunes, and it made the handle "Rubber Duck" famous as he put the "hammer down". Also, a song called "My Dingaling", "The Streak", and "It's Me Again Margaret.". I was just a kid, but these songs were so fun when they came out.
You two are AWESOME!!! Never judgemental. You are always up for a new sound!!! ❤
Y'all should check out the movie Gator but do white lightning first

Another great swamp story is "The Legion of the Wooly Swamp" by The Charlie Daniels Band.
You really need to watch him live and watch what a great guitarist he was. Another great song would be The Bird. Great story song. Great reaction

Jerry Reed is a great musician, actor & storyteller! Now,‘it’s time to get back to the icon storytelling of HARRY CHAPIN. Mr. Tanner is a sweet story that will make Amber cry. Cats in the Cradle is a story Jay will love about missed moments in fatherhood. I want to Learn a Love Song is sweet story that may be from Harry’s life. Gotta get back to HARRY CHAPIN. You’ve only reacted to one of his songs so far. Loving you guys from sunny So. Cal!
She Got the Goldmine, I Got the Shaft, classic. Jerry had a sound. Thanks for the smile.
This reminds me of a Charlie Daniel's song song called "The Legend of Wooley Swamp."
Jay I received a message from your boy. He said he heard you saying that he wasn’t even in your top 3 anymore. He asked me if I could tell you that he would like you to reconsider. He said that he put on the most banging performance of a life time at the River Plate. He wants you to see how he took over the show when they amped up “Let There Be Rock” He’s looking to be your number 1 boy again. You won’t be disappointed. Remember he did this just for you at the River Plate Live! Angus wants his spot back!!!
I'm going through his discography in my car on MP3 and there are gems in there. "Jerry Reed Explores Guitar Country" is the best so far with more to follow!
So many Jerry songs , Guitar Man, may the bird of paradise fly up your nose, Hot Stuff, She got the gold mine I got the Shaft, etc. Pretty much can't go wrong with Jerry.

This song is the opening of the movie Gator featuring Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed. Definitely worth watching.
There is the movie Gator with Burt Reynolds and bad guy Jerry Reed as Bama McCall where the song originated. Plus White Lightning which came before Gator.

For nearly 30 years, I lived 30 miles from the Okefenokee Swamp. Thanks for the great reaction. Check out the movies "White Lightning" and "Gator".
Welcome to the gem filled Reed Jerry rabbit hole. Gator was a motion picture as well, and you might've guessed it starred Ol' Burt and Jerr Bear. Jerry plays a number of great villains, do you remember Coach Red Bayou from Waterboy? Yep that's Jerry. You should check out his F-16 monologue. My favorite songs of his are Lord Mr. Ford, Preacher and the Bear, The Bird, Don't Think Twice (Bob Dylan cover), any of his collaborations with B.B. King, and Guitar man. There's also a story about how he got over on Elvis, relating to Guitar Man.
My dad was an old school Cajun (b. 1933, and his Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandpappy was the man who got the second ship of Acadian refugees out of Canada, which landed in what's now Louisiana in 1787, and the people became known as Cajun) born & raised a half mile from the Atchafalaya Swamp, and he said some of his uncles basically lived in the swamp, hunting gators and making moonshine, only coming onto land to sell the gator skins and whiskey, get supplies and visit family. He said the sheriff and his deputy chased them into the swamp one day. Only the sheriff made it out alive, and the sheriff decided it was best to leave them be so long as they stayed in the swamp.
Jerry Reed… “Uptown Poker Club”, “Framed”, “She Got the Goldmine, I Got the Shaft”. All hilarious!
There's a really fun video featuring Jerry for Amos Moses. You'll love it. I grew up listening to Jerry. So great that young people in 2023 can still enjoy what many feel is a great and entertaining artist like Jerry.
Jerry was a great guitar player also.

Yes, my favorite Jerry Reed song. This one was the theme of the movie Gator, which was supposed to be the sequel to White Lightning. But this Gator was from Florida and the other Gator McClusky was from Arkansas. White Lightning is Burt Reynolds best movie, if you have never seen it, I suggest you will like it.
Jerry wrote and performed "Guitar Man". Elvis wanted to recorded they had to bring Jerry in to show them how he played it as none of the studio guys could recreate the sound of Jerry reeds song
Jerry Reed and Conway Twitty are 2 of the most played singers in my house. Can't beat Jerry's amazing lyrics, funky beats and deep catalog of hits.
Watch him live and see his talents and terrific facial expressions!
“She got the goldmine (I got the shaft)! Great song.
Btw, You saw "Smokey..." of which Jerry Reed did the soundtrack for the movie and played Snowman, Bandit's best friend. In Gator, of which this is the opening soundtrack sung by Jerry Reed, Jerry Reed played Bama McCall, Burt Reynold's (Gator McKlusky) old friend from back in the day , and the movies protagonist. The movie is not bad if you have a couple drinks, close one eye, and grade it on the curve, BUT it has one of the top 2-3 all time great boat chase scenes, starting with Jerry Reed singling the soundtrack Gator, and all the local cops and the G-man in boats, helicopters, and squad cars, getting ready to come down on Gator McKlusky, who happens to have a speed boat that runs like a scalded dog. BTW, if you like story songs like you seem to and Jerry Reed, listen to the song "Framed" by Jerry Reed - kzread.info/dash/bejne/hqmdt5qdeqTHdJM.htmlsi=-0OZTFCTQexicYxb
Another Country performer you should give a listen to is Roy Clark. Absolutely one of the very best guitarists of all time. He had a lot of comedic songs and some serious ones, but I recommend listening to his playing of the instrumental song "Malaguena". There are two versions, the standard Flamenco style and a very fast paced version he did live on the old TV show "The Odd Couple". The Odd Couple version will leave you astounded!

🎸ohMY... Roy's Guitar talent often gets overlooked(I think) because he is such a Goofball between songs, and Most of the stuff he does was just Standard Country.. "Malaguena" is just SO good
the Okeefonokee Borders Florida and Georgia and is a Swamp park so to speak. Jerry Reed Rocks!
Gator was recorded for a movie with the same name, starring none other than Burt Reynolds. Another Jerry Reed banger... She Got the Gold Mine, I Got The Shaft.
Great to see you two finally getting caught up on the classics!!! Greetings from Seattle!! Me and my sister and brother-in-law in South Carolina love y'all!!
The Gator Caracter is from some Burt Reynolds movies (Gator and White Lightening), Jerry Reed also played in the movies where he was the Bad Guy.
...I don't know if someone mentioned this, but, when Jerry Reed went to help Elvis with some guitar picking style for the song 'guitar man'....he embarrassed Elvis the 1st time they met at the studio...he circled Elvis and when Elvis said he was making him 'uncomfortable, he said.....'sorry Elvis, but your the best looking guy I have EVER seen!' ...and then Elvis laughed.

you need to do a live performance by Jerry Reed. His guitar skills will blow your mind.
The first time I came across Jerry Reed was in the movie: Gator! Burt Reynold was Gator McKlusky. Believe it was 1975 or 76; it has been a while!
Jerry was an actor too. He co-starred with Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Art Carney in Smokey and the Bandit in '77. Awesome comedy movie. Check it out if you haven't seen it already.
This song is based on the movie "White lightning" of witch the main characters name is Gator Mclusky played by Burt Reynolds.
Live versions of Lord Mr. Ford, Better Things in Life, Alabama Jubilee, Jerry’s Breakdown, Lightningrod, and Papa’s Knee are all absolutely amazing. Also love KoKo Joe and Sittin’ On Top of the World. Jerry’s so good. Also check out Guitar Man and Alabama Wild Man, some of my faves
One of my favorites singers Jerry always has this type of songs story telling thanks guys love you ❤😂
Part of the Soundtrack for the Movie Gator with Burt Reynold playing Gator. They did a lot of movies together.
Jerry Reed wrote and recorded the soundtrack to Smokey and the Bandit in one week, the producer of the movie told him if he wanted the part in the movie the soundtrack had to be done in one week and he did it
The swamp he was talking about is the Okefenokee Swamp which is located on the Georgia/Florida boarder. That is where the movie White Lightning takes place that this song was used for.
Dude knows the swamp. 🤣
Burt Reynolds played Gator McClusky in two movies. The first was "White Lightning" and the sequel was just called "Gator"

Also do his song: “When You’re Hot You’re Hot”!!!
Jerry Reed was great, loved this song.
This is from the Movie Gator directed and starring Bert Reynolds 1970, It was followed up in 1973 with White Lightning where the feds get Gator out of prison to help get a corrupted Sherriff and who also killed Gator's younger brother.
I always LOVED this song when I was a kid!
My family grew up on the Bayou in South Louisiana . Incredible people and culture .Will give you the shirt off their backs and everybody is welcome. But mess around and hurt somebody. You may end up in the swamp. . Just like Amos Moses said!! Hahaha
