Jerry Reed was known for his fingerpicking of guitars, in addition to his singing. For a real treat, watch Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins dueling guitars.

Buck Owens was Roy's 'Hee Haw' co-host, and Pickin' and Grinnin' was a regular segment on the show, normally just with Buck and Roy doing the playing. Jerry Reed was a tremendous guitar player who had a singing career of his own. Buckwas a great guitarist, but his career had already peaked when 'Hee Haw' premiered, and he rarely showed off his real playing skills on the show.

Jerry Reed was an amazing talent. Woefully underrated guitarist. I'd recommend "She Got the Goldmine, I Got the Shaft," and "Amos Moses." Buck Owens was a country artist and co-host of Hee-Haw. He has some great tunes, including "Love's Gonna Live Here." Also, it looks like you haven't checked out Glen Campbell yet. Amazing guitarist. There are a couple of performances out there of Roy Clark and Glen Campbell playing one guitar at the same time. Lots of fun.

Jerry Reed started as a studio musician doing backup for assorted artists including Elvis and then got going doing what you might call every man songs. I found his variety really cool when I was growing up with songs like Amos Moses, East Bound and Down(from Smokey and The Bandit) to my dads favorite Caffeine, Nicotine, Benzedrine(Wish Me Luck.) He could play a wide variety of instruments and had great story songs.

Buck Owens was one of the pioneers of the Bakersfield Sound, which pretty much revolutionized country music. A large portion of modern country is influenced pretty directly by Buck Owens. Jerry Reed was a guitarist, singer, actor, just about everything. His picking style is completely unique and amazing. When Elvis did a cover of Guitar Man, They had to get Jerry to come and play, because none of of the professionals working with Elvis were able to copy it.

As many have already mentioned Jerry Reed the musician, but I'm more familiar with him as an Actor. You may have seen him as the coach of the rival team in Adam Sandler's The Water Boy. In the '70's he was a fixture in most Burt Reynolds' movies. His comedic timing was as flawless as his guitar pickin'.

This is from the show "Hee Haw" which was the bane of my existence as a kid. Grandparents just loved this show and I could not do anything but cringe when it was on, it was so corny. However, I do have great appreciation for the music artists who were on and Roy Clark and Buck Owen's talented playing. I didn't mind the music at all, just the schtick.

I love Buck Owens. He and his band The Buckaroos were known for their "Bakersfield sound", a twangy, electrified version country originating in Bakersfield, CA. 50's guitar rock mixed with 60's honky tonk. Buck was a great guitar player himself; but Don Rich, the leader and lead guitarist of his band, was amazing. Songs: Act Naturally, Who's Gonna Mow Your Grass?, Loves Gonna Live Here, I've Got a Tiger By The Tail, Streets of Bakersfield, Together Again, Waitin In Your Welfare Line

Jerry Reed was a multi talented person. Not only could he play guitar, but he also wrote songs for other singers.Jerry was also a great actor and starred in several well-known films from the 70s and 80s. Jerry teamed up with Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields in Smokey and the Bandit in 1976 that was absolutely a great film. Jerry was one of the greatest artists/actors that I can remember from my childhood. They're all gone now but definitely not forgotten.

Buck owens started what is known as the Bakersfield sound in country music. Was a good musician in his own right. Had many hits, one was even covered by the Beatles. Act Naturally was sang by Ringo Star on the HELP album owens was one of the mainstays of the show Hee haw for many years.

Roy Clark is a talented musician and performer! The bluegrass Roy plays on the TV show "Hee Haw" is used mostly to as a setup for backwoods hillbilly jokes in-between the show's country music guests that promote their songs. But bluegrass music is also a serious genre that has musicians that are as skilled as musicians in any other genre that you can think of. For example, the fiddle player in the: Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper "Lee Highway Blues" is super Impressive! 1.5 Million views!

Buck Owens was one of the pioneers of the "Bakersfield Sound" in country music. That's the country music that came out of Southern California in the 1960s. As many others have said, Jerry Reed was an amazing guitarist. Just outstanding. This program was "HeeHaw," which was produced during the 70s. It was a variety show -- much more common then -- and featured skits, large amounts of cornball humor, pretty girls (the HeeHaw Honeys), and some outstanding country music. Jerry Reed also had a career as an actor. He was Cletus "Snowman" Snow in "Smokey and the Bandit," among other films. Thanks for reviewing this! Enjoyed it. :)

Hee Haw was a comedy/music variety show that aired for 26yrs from 1969- 1993. Every episode had 2 or 3 well known country artists that performed hit songs and would do the skits. They would do entire season recordings (aprox 25 episode a season) in just a 2 wk period to allow for tour season of the Stars that appeared.

With Buck Owens who is one of my personal favorites two of his biggest songs were called, I've Got A Tiger By The Tail. And, Act Naturally. And Jerry Reed, kind of a small town bad boy hoodlums, his three best songs were, When You're Hot You're Hot. And Framed. And Amos Moses. And one of Roy Clark's biggest hits that you have not reviewed yet is called, Thank God And Greyhound.

Jerry Reed, fantastic guitarist. Hee Haw definitely a unique show. My parents always watched it, with my dad and uncles always wishing to get on it one day. My favorite regular sketch was when they'd pop up in a stage corn field and tell jokes... but they filmed it live so they'd keep in all the times they were cracking up unable to complete to joke and such. There are some great videos around of those bits. Another classic is the "Hee Haw Pfft You Was Gone, Where oh Where" song. There is 10th Anniversery Hee Haw Pfft You Was Gone, Where oh Where vidoe on youtube. Or the "Gloom, Despair & Agony..." regular bit.

Jerry Reed was a great guitarist. He would have been a guest on this episode of Hee Haw. Buck Owens was co-host of Hee Haw with Roy Clark. Trivial fact: They'd film an entire season of Hee Haw over a 2 week period of the summer. This particular segment--Pickin' and Grinnin' would normally have been Clark and Owens, playing and telling jokes with Reed joining in as a guest. After this, Reed left the set and they most likely filmed several more for other episodes.

Buck Owens was a huge country music singer, and he had such hit records as Act Naturally, Tiger by the Tail, Together Again, Love's Gonna Live Here, Under Your Spell Again, and Before You Go. Band mate Don Rich played the guitar and sang backup for Buck. On July 17, 1974, they had finished a recording session and Don was going to ride his motorcycle to a family reunion. For some reason, Buck begged him not to ride the bike that day, but Don did it anyway. His bike hit the center divider of the highway causing him to wreck. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. After the death of Rich, Buck Owens seemed to lose some of his zest for performing though after some time he started recording the occasional song with Dwight Yoakam. To see an example of the magical blend of Buck and Don's voices, check out "Before You Go" or "Together Again". For an example of Buck and Dwight singing together look at "Under Your Spell Again" or "Streets of Bakersfield".

    Even in Toronto, this show, 'Hee Haw', was appointment viewing back in the day. Buck Owens was an established country artist and along with Clark, a series regular. Jerry Reed was a top-tier session musician who, through appearances like this, and his sparkling personality, I suppose, ended up with a parallel career in Hollywood, such as a number of Burt Reynolds films. 'Cannonball Run' and 'Convoy' come to mind. If I'm mistaken, shoot me. ;

Jerry Reed is probably my second favorite country artist, my number one being Waylon Jennings. (I would love to see you react to him too!) Jerry also played one of the most beloved good ol' boys, the "Snowman", in the much loved and cherished Smokey and the Bandit movies (possible reaction also? 😃) as well as performing much of the music for them. An accomplished country artist and possibly one of the greatest pickers to ever play a guitar. Yet another wonderful reaction Mr. Boyd, thank you for brightening my day yet again. God Bless and much love from Toppenish, WA State, USA. 😃🇺🇸🌲

Buck Owens and Roy Clark were the hosts of Hee Haw. Jerry Reed was the primary guest on this particular show. This was 1960s and early 1970s country themed variety show. For Buck Owens, I suggest Tiger By The Tail and Act Naturally as a beginning. For Roy Clark, in addition to what you've already done, Yesterday When I Was Young and Thank God And Greyhound. For Jerry Reed, East Bound And Down (from Smokey And The Bandit) Amos Moses, Ko Ko Joe and She Got The Goldmine. Enjoy

This was a fairly regular skit from the “Hee Haw” tv show…. Roy Clark and Buck Qwens were the front men of this music/comedy tv variety show that was a huge hit for 20 years. One of the longest running shows of all time. Jerry Reed was a country singer, guitar player, and actor that was that week’s guest star. They had big name country stars as guests every week. They did lots of comedy skits that included regular cast and guest stars and usually the guest stars performed a couple of songs as well.

Buck Owens wrote a song that Ringo Starr made a hit, Act Naturally. There is a video of Buck and Ringo doing it as a duet. Jerry Reed wrote and sang East Bound and Down from Smokey and the Bandit, starring Burt Reynolds.

Jerry Reed, singer, actor, comedian. Check out the movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds and the theme song from that "East Bound and Down". Buck Owens had a long list of recordings. He with Jonny Cash, George Jones, and Patsy Cline were Mom's favorite Country nd Western singers.

I'd suggest you consider Jerry Reed's "The Claw" shows off his guitar skills, or "Sugar Foot Rag". As others has said, Jerry Reed was a guitarist, singer, and actor. He also had several duets with Chet Atkins that are worth checking out. Buck Owens was co-host on Hee Haw with Roy Clark. I've heard that Buck was considered the bigger star when the show started. For him, I'd suggest "Act Naturally" or "Streets of Bakersfield" with Dwight Yoakim.

To get a feel for Jerry Reed, check out his songs “the Claw”, and “She Got The Gold Mine, I Got The Shaft”. Buck Owens is a Hall of Fame Country star who was one of the innovators of what is now called “The Bakersfield Sound” in country music.

You really should do a deep dive into Jerry Reed. His style of playing so confounded Colonel Parker {Elvis} that Jerry was able to get a sweet deal to play on an Elvis cover of a Jerry Reed Song

Jerry Reed was a guitarist equal to Roy Clark, in my opinion. He played by request on Elvis Presley’s song, “Guitar Man”, as well as being an artist in his own right. He also starred in the movie “Smokey and the Bandit” and recorded the theme song, “Eastbound and Down”. Buck Owens (with his band, the Buckaroos) was a star recording artist in the 1960’s, with hits like “Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy” and “Cryin’ Time”.

Jerry is the king of creating a style of picking to this day guitarist are trying to figure out. Chet Atkins was his idol and guitar partners. Jerry eventually had to teach Chet his way… Jerry’s favorite artist was Ray Charles…. He played guitar like piano player. Oh, he brought Elvis back in 68’ and played on the record no one else could haha!
