About The Carol Burnett Show
While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history.

That sketch with the shoe store gave me a glimpse of What Donald Duck would be like human and working in conditions he detested :D Excellent!
It's sad they don't make good shows like this anymore
When Korman did prissy men it was hilarious!!!
Love this episode. Mel Tormes song is awesome. The shoe salesman bit with Don Rickles is hysterical. He's loosing it. He's going so crazy the gums got locked. He's gonna end up ripin out his hair

I love how Don Rickles basically ad libs his entire role in the shoe shop sketch, then has the audacity to respond to Harvey Korman's ad lib with, "Where does it say he has the line, 'Savage?'"
People who can break Harvey Korman: Conway Rickles Also Carol's carrot outfit is adorable.

Damn Mel Torme is just the best! Dean Martin may be the King of Cool, but the Velvet Fog is just aces! Part time songwriter, full time dummy. Dang! 😆
I grew up in 1950, 1960, and I am loving this , laughing so much , have not enjoyed entertainment in a long time.🤣🤣🤣🤣
OMG NEVER GETS OLD. AND CAROL HAS THE MOST GORGEOUS LEGS - EVER

What a funny sketch. I enjoyed a lot the pregnant maids scene.

I loved this show!
Man Don Rickles was soo good back in the day.
My god, Lyle was gorgeous.
The shoe lady would be called a Karen today. 😂😂😂😂
The Mel Torme song would not go over well today! Too many working women have suffered and lost jobs. Rickles is extraordinary.
I miss when television was worth watching 👀
Estos programas me recuerdan a los que se veían en mi casa a las 7:00 pm. Son para toda la familia.
Love to watch your shows, which I unfortunately missed in the 60s because I moved to Italy. Now I don't watch TV because I discovered You Tube so I get everything in English too. Also realized you were born same year as my sister (who is stll in California, San Clemente). I understand why Harry wants to live in Santa Barbara (where I lived) instead of London.
Espectacular
El inglés que ella habla si lo entiendo. Además mrs. Burnett si sabe expresarse.
I love Mr. Warmth & Johnny Carson together 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Excelente 👍💪👍💪

Lol! It was a play, of course, on the impresario Flo Ziegfeld..
Carol Burnette was awesome, she messed up when she allowed Don Rickles on the show.
Harvey and Don together is one thing, but what about Nanette Fabrey and Don? What was going through her head?
somebody please clue me in, who is Ernie Anderson? She introduces him a lot.

I read that he became this show'd announcer, after Lyle Waggoner left.
I am sure DR made a lot up in the end.

Love this show, especially with Tim Conway they were so funny, they could have left Don Rickles off of it though.

You dont get entertainment like this anymore. Back when there was only one TV and the whole family would gather around. Now, everything needs to be edgy, PC with graphic language.
The shows were usually stellar. These episodes are slow and awkward.
Unfortunately, television like this is completely boring to the younger generations. Anyone who is YOUNGER than a Gen X who likes this show - good for you. You're a rarity.
@Doc Brown who wrote in the comments section claims he has friends that met Don Rickles that said he was "arrogant", but actually he just made them up and is just a sad pathetic little man that is jealous of Don Rickles' success in life. Edit: he deleted his comment but just in case he wrote it again his nasty little piece, I'll keep my post right here.

@@docbrown6550 yeah right... Before you deleted your nasty post, you said you have so-called friends who claimed Don Rickles was "arrogant", so you don't like him anymore; and because he belittles everyone. Now, did I made that up? Or are you just continuing to argue?

No issue with Don Rickles, no one is jealous of Don Rickles, nothing was made up. Rickles is no where near someone to be jealous of, just telling the truth about his type of comedy. The Cancel Culture kicked in and I got tired of others that are the ones arguing because they got didn't agree, I didn't have to put anything back about his attitude with my friends, they were truthful. They said what they said and was truthful about it. The ones that doesn't like the truth started crying. By the way No ones talking about Rickles being canceled.

@@docbrown6550 LOL, I hear you, there are a lot of people that has issues with his comedy, his comedy does belittle people.
Mel Torme was so overrated as a singer. He was a far better actor than he was a singer. He really should've spent more time on his acting!
Ok I get that times were different. People's mentality in the 70s was different. More ignorant. But some sketches should just die.
