Dominions 5 Nation Guide: Erytheia

Ойындар

Finally we reach the end of the Pelagia line of nations, which means this one is is a tad lore heavy.
Having had their elite driven into eternal slumber or madness by the dreams of R'lyeh, Pelagian society now mostly survives in the form of a combined Pelagian-Arco land settlement called, you guessed it, Erytheia.
In the late age, Pelagia finally makes the jump to being a land, hoplite nation in the Helenistic style, though you still have plenty of underwater firepower on offer if you want to go and fight your comparatively meagre opposition below the waves.
A nation with fantastic research, effortless access to communion mages, and an 'ok' sacred soldier, Erytheia isn't one of the giants of the late age, but may perhaps be the most likely of any of the three incarnations of the nation to actually win a game.
Apologies for the sound quality on this one, I'm working with a really primitive setup as noted.

"Problem is, all [Rlyeh's] freespawn chaff is pretty friggin' useless against actual competent troops" Dude I've had a random 15 villain event take out 40 freespawn almost losslessly. No competence needed. Rlyeh's freespawn are a malus on the battlefield in almost evrry scenario. That said, great video.

More Erytheia guides! If its okay with you, I added a link to your video in my own overview. We agree on a few points so far, which is great. I learned a lot of Dominions5 watching your videos and hope that the few people following me can check out your content. Its all quality! I may have obsessed over the Daduchoi a bit more than you... They are quite good.

@@Isvoor Honestly, they don't even need it half the time cause their communions rock that hard. (Earthpower puns?) I think I have a fight up already where the battle ends on round 20 or so, the slaves are at less than 100 fatigue and the masters are at 0. Thats with them doing shenanigans like tstrike, petrify, falling fires. Using wide path daduchoi as slaves with power of the spheres and whatever magic boosting spells tends to leave them at 3-4 skill in most magic paths.

Fun meme strat for fighting Atlantis: 1. Pick drakon, give it strength +4 and PR 15. 2. Have it forge a bear claw talisman. 3. Research alteration 1 and have great expansion since you have an awake pretender. 4. Sometime around the turn 12-18 mark, if Atlantis is anywhere near you attack it with javelins or whatever else you want on flanks, PR15 sacreds near drakon. Drakon is forward/center positioned, casts earth might and is then set to "fire". If you have ench 3, you can heal it to 125 hp in hostile dominion too, though it usually shouldn't be taking melee hits. Atlantis takes time to build up countermeasures for poison, and usually prefers ice guard, which are not sacred and won't benefit from PR bless even if they take one. Drakon is cold-blooded and will suffer for that, but will still tend use up its dragon gas charges. Gas scales 1/2 strength -3, so having +13 strength will add ~6 damage to dragon gas, which leaves a lingering cloud effect. This will damage PR 10 troops, kill most PR 5 troops (I've accidentally killed my own gigante warrior even w/o the talisman, though that's rare), and absolutely mops PR 0 troops. While this is a meme strat, it's not like you're dead in the water literally or figuratively if Atlantis happens to not be nearby. Turbocharged poison damage in year 1 or early year 2 can screw a lot of other builds too, and having good expansion + an annoying pretender that can be fluffed with ethereal/quickness/self-buff regen (and wear regen ring) usually requires at least tech 5 and good predictions from opponents to kill (a mis-step can cost an attacker most of its army too). You can totally go scales and do fine, but I think gassing down Atlantis ASAP is a funny way to screw with them, and that PG can easily score dozens of ice guard kills even on the offense. Doesn't work underwater though (unlike poison/sleep clouds which do).

Think with a video this long dividing a few sections might make some sense. Introduction/Lore/Troops/Mages/Research/Pretenders or something like that. Would be usefull for example when you later come back to it to look for something specific or want to test a strategy you suggested. An idea for another segment would be showcase battle. An example how this nation tool can work together in battle. Here this could be either an early game underwater battle or mid-game land battle. Against a throne for easy set up, against another nation if you feel fancy (maybe the next you plan to make a guide to). Just a few ideas, thank you for the guide.

your voice is not as much off as it is so silent that my computers fan noise is far louder (I still can turn up my stereo directly, but that means everything else will be unbearably loud), it's been a while since I found such a silent KZread video ps. yeah, I'll come back tomorrow to watch this, turning up my volume at night is a bad idea pps. turned on my music, turned master volume from 100% to 10% now it sounds like the same volume (also I just like to document such interesting facts, it's not to criticize, if at all then more to let you know so you could improve if you deem it necessary) ppps. freakin popup notification hurt my ears now (please shut up Windows)

I've been wanting to play Erytheia for almost a year now, but all the work of diverse lategame communions has always deterred me. Overall I had many of the same thoughts. I am more open to the crossbowman. At 7 resources they can come out very quickly and give a good amount of fire power against heavy, fire resistant troops when your javelins fail.

Erytheian Crossbows are extremely accurate because they get so close to fire, plus they are very cheap for a crossbow like you said. Good behind a durable frontline.

The princess can be earth 3, the prince cannot. The prince can be astral 3, the princess cannot. They are also good leaders. Best leaders you have thanks to fire magic. If you are pumping them out of your capital, you are basically getting improved daduchoi and commanders in one. I would fish for those 3-paths, especially when low on cash because they are technically cheap since they are slow to recruit.

  • @Isvoor

Both can also be fire or water 3, which daduchoi (or any other national mage) cannot. So that's a lot of random paths you can fish for. You need some of them for the summons

Definately mediocre nation. Meh troops, ok mages, uw access, nothing big. Imho one of the biggest strengh of this nation is what its "I kill it later" nation. Early one everyone will be focusing on rushing either late game guys like Bogarus, or already powerful ones like Atlantis. Or survival, if its Bogarus player. Also you one of few nation what can say -"hey guys dont attack me and i remove this nasty Rlyeh from the map" and most people will agree. I call it "The Power of Mediocrity".
