    Personally I like a dormant rainbow bless with regeneration on Fomoria, the pretender comes out when you really need the magic diversity and you get regeneration for your giants and thugs/SC for your first war. Fomoria can expand fine without regen as long as you have some improved base stats on the giants (both unmarked and the big giants work fine) As for being S tier, that depends on skill level and how much time you are willing to invest into your turns. For beginners Fomoria are A tier at best, while for really skilled players that are willing to invest a lot of time into their turns, it is probably the strongest nation in EA

    I think the Fomorian Militia and Fir Bolg Slinger are better than the review suggests. Militia are terrible in combat but you're getting 3.2 siege strength (assuming no STR reducing afflictions) for 15 gold which is better than the human average gold-to-siege ratio, and definitely your most gold efficient siege chaff. Fir Bolg Slingers are much better than indie Slingers, which is why they cost 11 gold and so many rec points. First, they have better morale so they won't flee as soon as they take return fire or get into melee. Second, 12 precision is better than most EA archers. Fir Bolg Slingers tear apart tribes, lizards, and barbs in large numbers. I use them to expand and also later behind a line of blessed Unmarked/Fomorian Warriors. They get even more ridiculous with Wind Guide and easily win archer duels. Yes, they can't hurt armored troops but they will badly damage the poorly armored archers of most EA nations.

    Really appreciate the video. I still might suggest that Fomoria requires a little too much finess combined with a healthy dose of luck in order to really call it S tier. I mean lets face it, dumping 60+ air gems into an all out assault during year 2 is a hell of a dice roll and requires an order of magnitude more skill to pull off than stacking a hellbless on Vanjarls or something. There is a lot that can go wrong. Now I just need to find time to actually play a damn game again :)

    I also wonder if it's as threatening against other people who anticipate a 1 turn elfing beatdown. When you're blowing 60 air gems on an alpha strike, you need that alpha strike to work. If someone catches you off guard by anti-elfing some fire elementals into provinces, throwing extra units/or other mage stuff in most of the provinces you lose a lot of mages and gems. Most players are not great vs elfing (even 40 stealth basic unit raiders can cause a lot of problems), but I wonder if the person defending Fomoria is as good as the person using them if it's as good. It seems like a prediction/guessing game with not many opportunities for either side to guess correctly.

    @@TheMelnTeam If i have 4 'decoy' and 1 'king' cards in my hand and you have 4 'decoy' and 1 'kingtaker' card and we each place a card down and then turn them face up together and 'decoy' beats 'kingtaker' which beats 'king' which beats 'decoy' then i am favoured to win, you have to use 'decoy' every time i use 'decoy' and guess exactly when i am going to commit my 'king' card. You must get it right every single time, i only need to get it right once. Fomoria can choose the turn they go in and commit their gems to a massive attack: if the anti-elfing player springs the trap too early they lose mage turns and research while the Fomoria player has lost very little since they havnt chosen to commit anything yet and all those mages about to trapeze in are still at home researching or doing other useful things; if the anti-elfing player springs the trap too late...well its too late.

    @@teekay851 I don't think it's quite that simple, per your analogy kingtaker costs way less than king to play for some factions, and some factions will have a king of their own as a response. Others are just screwed, since counters to wailing winds are pretty limited and Fomoria can just win straight up in addition to elfing. I expect the threat of elfing to be proportional to how easily the target nation can take the territory back/whether it has access to magic phase punishes of its own. , as that makes elfing with non-stealthy druids more risky.

    what I dislike about fomoria especially on mapnuke maps, is that you tend to start on the coast of a pond. the result is that if you play fomoria regularly, in a fair amount of games you‘ll get into a war with an uw nation (biggest cancer in dominions)

  • @TheMelnTeam

    @TheMelnTeam

    Biggest cancer in dominions is underwater PLUS popkill IMO, since you get all the "benefits" of bordering UW nation and while land/water dompush is nerfed you still get them dompushing at least some popkill in addition. At least Therados is fun to play relative to LA R'lyeh. I saw the UW bless discussion in Steam and do think it would be healthy for the game to make UW more accessible at less cost.

    Well, Fomoria is one of the few land nation that can actually take out a UW nation. Granted you need the right bless and timing to do it, but it is at least a possibility.

    As for morrigans (the summoned ones) I like them, and I think I would rather have 6 of them that use the 30 death gems on a TB on a Fomorian king that may be completely wasted if he never dies. Morrigans are flying stealthy raiders that can easily take on any PD and they can be really nasty to have jumping to the back in big battles.

  • @crodusfool7617

    I think that formoria is a S tier nation because of the amount of counters a nation needs to fight them. They have recruitable SCs, combat thugs, stealthy raiders, and a decent frontline. One of the major failings is their ability to hit due to low attack scores which can be fixed with relying on sacreds and an attack bless. I just love that lucid didn’t focus on the cloud trapezable HoS spamming stealthy nemedian sorcerers. Those things can provide such a change of pace to what they throw at you with regular sc and thugs. Easily in the debate for one of the best recruitable mages in the game

    With 3 frost scales, would it be better with a frost father chassis than an Arch Mage? Thanks for the guides... I'm brand new, and yet I can follow you pretty well, so props for being so clear :) Doing a bless build like you Arch Mage, isn't it really important to get level 3 priests for mass bless? How important would it be to work toward the Summon Bishop Fish spell? What would the main army consist of then? Unmarked with Fir Bolg spear wielders so that one doesn't use resources that could be spent on Unmarked on Nemedian warriors (in the capital)? At 43:50, you mention "fluffing with natural protection". What does that entail?

    This is a nation I really want to get down. There are a few videos but other than that they seem to have A high ceiling and skill cap I never know which way to take them do I do a blessed for my Giants do I just expand with the normal mullet troops? Once the game reaches a mid or late point, I have some sort of an idea but I have a terrible time trying to figure out how to start with this nation. I know this is a fairly old guide and this might not be seen but if anybody could give me tips and tricks about this faction, I would greatly appreciate it
