A few years back I was a manager at a fine dining restaurant in Los Angeles that catered to a VIP crowd. One night a small group was coming in for a business dinner in one of the private rooms in the back. Dolly was the first to arrive. She had a driver and security who stayed in the lounge. I escorted her back and offered her a beverage while she waited. She asked for water. I came back with a small bottle of Evian and a wine glass with a slice of lemon. She said, and I kid you not, "Oh sweetheart, thank you so much, but I don't need the fancy stuff. I'm used to a jelly jar filled from the tap" She was the most real, genuine, appreciative, kind-hearted, funny, and an all-around likeable person. I dealt with hundreds of Hollywood A-listers while working there and nobody ever came close to as lovely a person as her. Period

She flew through Cleveland when I was working for a major airline. My coworker asked her if she would call his answering machine and leave a message, so he could use it has the message others would hear when they called his home. She did it! She said some thing like, “ Hi, this is Dolly. Dan can’t come to the phone right now, because we’re out of having SOOOME fun. Just leave your name and number and he’ll get back to you as soon as he can.” 😁 I also asked for an autograph for my husband, whose name is Carl. She said, “why, honey, my husbands name is Carl too.” ♥️ I adore her, as do so many.

The hilarious part is that I too, got mistaken for a hooker. Back then cell phones weren't readily available and there weren't any telephone booths nearby - I was waiting for a friend from college to come by and help me move to my new apartment. She was suppose to be there by 8AM. She never showed up. I spent all day walking in front of the old apartment building trying to keep an eye out for her. A cop saw me and asked what I was doing there - I innocently said I was waiting for my friend. For almost 8 hours he kept asking me on and off - what are you still doing here - I repeated - waiting for my friend. He asked me one last and final time and I blew my top and asked why do you keep asking me that - I told you I was waiting for my friend. He then realized I was telling the truth when he saw my luggage just by the apartment door. He laughed and said I thought you were a hooker. Needless to say - this country bumpkin was horrified, embarrassed and mad at the same time. He & his partner went off duty and helped me move.

I remember I was going thru a terrible time when those fires hit in the smokies. I'm from KY and decided to come down and put my problems aside for a bit. I came down and helped. This what I'm fixing to say hopes it touches a person. When I came down and worked in those mountains I came to realize real quick that I had no problems even though I did and still do but nothing compared to what fire victims go thru. This truly touch my heart. It was like a nuclear blast had went off and there was nothing. I was so saddened but I showed up with my helping hand everyday and the people I met both victims and volunteers actually pulled me thru my own problems. Dolly helped so many of her home God bless her over and over. We need to take lessons off of each other and be kind to one another no matter where your from. Believe me there's magic in those mountains.

It's so weird, I've never thought she looked "cheap". Over the top maybe, but when I think of say Elton John, I'd never describe him as looking cheap. It's strange because I've thought some other celebrities on the red carpet and what not, have actually looked like street walkers, but I've never thought she did. Maybe it's just the ratio she has figured out. If you're going to show a ton of boob, cover the legs more. If you're going to show a ton of leg, cover the boob more (they're impossible to "hide", but she has figured out how to minimize).

Anyway, around there, they call her Miss Dolly. Or, Miss Dolly Parton. Howsoever they say it, it’s with genuine, unforced respect and reverence.
