Yes Don Dokken does not sound here but at least he could show more energy and enthusiasm. He should keep this lineup together because George Lynch & Jeff Pilson really mask Don's shortcomings and make the band more energetic and so much better.

I have all the respect for Don Dokken as one of the greatest singers of his time, but Dokken was Dokken because of 2 things: George Lynch's amazing playability, and Don Dokken's amazing voice. This video contained only one of those things, and it appears George has only gotten better. Much love, Don, but this doesn't cut it.

Georgie is a worst player than what he was in the 80's to mid 90's and Don is 63 and had to battle cancer. If George didn't hit the weights, he would be a better player and if Don didn't smoke so fucking much, he wouldn't have had these throat problems. In the end of the day, they're just people and made dumb decisions so it's easy for us to say "They should've done this or that" because we weren't in their shoes.

Don's voice isn't the same bc he had throat problems and surgery 4+ years ago and stomach cancer. I'm sorry but the bullshit between Don and George was both pure ego bc you know what they FUCKING rock. I love Don Dokken always have, no other voice in this world like him. I love George Lynch, best damn guitar player. I love Mick Brown, damn good drummer and singer and my favorite Jeff Pilson who is an underrated bassist, guitar player, piano, and singer. DOKKEN IS DOKKEN BC OF THE 4 OF THEM. I will always love these 4 and their songs. As human as they are, most of the time, in my eyes, they do no wrong. (Except when they fight, lol)

I have so much respect for what Don did in the old days -One of the most badass and recognisable voices in the 80s metal scene! However, this is just sad to watch. I don't care what the reasons are: When this is the best you can perform as a singer, you should just quit and let the legacy live on. This is just a purely terrible showing of a once fantastic band. On the positive, Lynch and Pilson are still rocking out like never before, so maybe they should carry on without Don, and then maybe he should just focus on songwriting? ;)

Pistol Pete While George has had a thin tone in some shows over the years, some (or most) of that in this clip probably has to do with what's being used to record the sound and where it's positioned in the room. That could be said for most live clips on KZread though.

maybe its just me but i think when artists (especially if they're the original ones who played in the recording) play not exactly perfect note for note its pretty cool cause they can still jam and almost improvise a little bit. that is of course they still play it close enough to the original version. like in iron maiden they play very close to original but at times you can still hear some improv in their playing which i think is pretty neat

Great guitarists are known to typically never play any of their songs the same way they did on the record and are always known to change/improvise during a live set. Ritchie Blackmore is one of the many guitarists known to never play a song the same way twice and will purposely improvise on his guitar. George has been doing this as well ever since the 80s.

Don burnt his voice out like many of 80’s singers like (Vince Neil,David lee roth, Stephen pearcy). George has always been improvisational but even more as he’s gotten older. Reb may stick to recorded version closer but reb came from the background of a professional studio musician.

Eeewwwfff, kind of tough to watch. But then I really don't believe Dokken was spot on every time I seen them. Seen them three times ,Alpine Valley monsters of rock ,Rosemont Horizon Chicago ,with Judas Priest and at popular creek. George had Guitar issues Dons voice was not the greatest and for some reason they had no continuity on stage. Four individuals trying to play one song just didn't work. It just sucks to say I have kind of been disappointed with their live performance, and I have absolutely ripped off George and some of his playing style in my early playing years.

agree. I love Don and listen to his music....but even back in the day he was never that good live. I also agree on Dokken Live. Even back in the day. They had so many radio pop hits...more than Ratt, whitesnake etc....but they couldn't headline. Their live chemistry was zilch.
