Have you ever done a Bits and Pieces puzzle? Do you prefer puzzles with random or standard piece shapes?

Also, have you ever thought of doing an educational video on types of material that puzzles are made out of...cork, wood(different types of wood), plastic, cardboard, along with types of puzzle pieces, such as all cardboard triangular, random, standard, silhouettes, additionally, type of puzzle such as 3D, sphere, 2D converts to 3D... I think the best video you have done is the one that you could understand/appreciate works of art better if you did that masterpiece in puzzle form (of course, the best way is to observe the real painting).

I like both, but prefer random pieces puzzles. partly bc I like the increased difficulty. But also bc with random pieces you always know if you put the right piece in the right place. Because all the pieces are unique, you cannot mistakenly place the wrong puzzle piece in the wrong place.

I've never worked a puzzle with a lighthouse in it. Happy puzzleing!

I have done several over the quarantine because Bits and Pieces Canada remained well stocked up here. I really want the Sewing Room one but when I ordered it they sent me a completely different smaller puzzle of a lemonade stand lol. Then the sewing one was sold out....so they gave me a credit. I will use it when that one is back in stock. The only one I didn’t Iike from them was the 300 piece Angel Stamps . The pieces are really large and bulky and I didn’t enjoy doing it or the finished look. Great company though, and now I will try a shaped one. Probably the camping one 😀

Lighthouse! I have been working at a seniors lodge for the last year and a couple of the residents got me into jigsaw puzzles. I found Bits and Pieces online and have already ordered 7 puzzles, with my eye on a few more. I am still working on my first and am enjoying it quite a bit. It's only a 300 piece but I loved the picture (Northern Lights Cabin), so I figured I would give it a go. I think I will prefer the 500 piece puzzles because the pieces are not as large, which I think is a plus when you're new to it or (as with some of the seniors I work with) are visually impaired. Love your channel!

Lighthouse I‘ve never done a bits and pieces jigsaw puzzle. Since I come from germany, they‘re not as easy to get as they are in the US. I could buy some of them on Amazon, but they‘re way more expensive here. But with the next order I will definitely try one of these. I absolutely love this weird shape of the puzzle pieces. Last week I did one from Eurographics, which also had these funny shaped pieces and it was really nice to do.

I am doing a shaped puzzle now by Sunsout. I think that Sunsout is very similar to Bits and Pieces. Their pieces are also random cuts and they make quite a few shaped puzzles. I have quite a few Bits and pieces puzzles in my collection. Only a few of their puzzles are available on Amazon, and they do have an eBay store. But again they only list a limited amount on eBay. I also think that they make limited amounts of their puzzles in general. Once they sell out they are no longer available. So when I see a Bits and Pieces puzzle that I really likeI buy it right away. Lighthouse.

Lighthouse! I have done several "Bits and Pieces" puzzles; mostly 1000 pieces. The biggest difference I see with random piece shapes is that it's hard to positively identify the edge pieces because some of the interior pieces have flat edges. However, I eventually figure them out. It's not a deal breaker and it's actually nice to switch things up sometimes.

I live in coastal Maine, there's lots of lighthouse(s)! I've done a bits and pieces puzzle. I liked the random pieces, and I agree the flat sided ones are a bit tricky. The only thing I didn't like was that the cut itself took away from the image. Like there were distinct lines of the piece shape I'm not sure if that's all or just that particular one. I'll find out soon, I'm starting a new bits and pieces tomorrow!

I love the Bits and Pieces catalog. I have a number of their puzzles. My favorite Bits and Pieces puzzle of all time is "Cat Conundrum," a 1000-piece puzzle from about 2005. It has beautiful blue and gold mosaic-type tiles around the border. The picture has a cat and a number of objects that all have the word "cat" in them - such as catamaran, catfish, catsup, cat burglar, and the like. There was a contest to see who could find and name the most "cat" things in the puzzle. I made a huge list but never got around to turning it in. This was a "puzzle plus" because you not only had the pleasure of working the puzzle but also the fun of finding the "cat" objects. Out of all the puzzles I have, if I could save just one puzzle, this would be the one !

Yes, I've done a Bits n Pieces as well as a shaped one like the lighthouse puzzle. I prefer the standard 5 shape puzzle but will do any type. I wanted to put in my 2 cents, that I disagree that you can't sort a unique cut puzzle by shape. It has saved me before. Some of the piece shapes may vary than the standard 5, but I've found you can still sort by shape with just a small pile of "other" shapes. Happy puzzling!!

From just watching your video and not having hands-on this puzzle, it appears the cardboard insert inside the box is designed not to maintain the box integrity, but to keep the puzzle pieces from getting too jostled in transit and potentially having some of the more delicate pieces bent or dinged up. I love your videos, by the way!

But the shape of the puzzle is great and i love that this isn't standard. Would do some just for that fact! Even i don't like the picture that much. :D This week i did two 1000 pieces puzzle. They we're allready used and two pieces are left. This is so frustrating! But you have to expect that. Much more surprising was that i had a piece which doesnt belong to the puzzle that i did. And dont forget the Lighthouse. :D

My mom and I enjoy Random Piece Shapes. The special shapes are fun because they are playful, silly, or odd shapes to laugh at. My mom actually finds special shaped pieces easier, because she doesn't have an eye for color or micro picture details, but rather has learned how to do puzzles by observing their shapes and silhouettes in addition to their pictures. Standard shaped puzzle pieces all look too similar and so they are heavily done by picture only, BUT special shaped puzzles add two elements to help search for pieces that connect, picture details AND shape details. She uses shapes to her advantage, which for some puzzles, her tips have been puzzle life savers for me. They may not be shapes to organize as well, but they do have two elements for analyzing both picture and shape, which brings a new perspective of how to view the pieces. :)

I have the Bits and Pieces "New Orleans City View" 300 piece ready to start that my 7 yr old picked out. We just finished a mini puzzle The Bull's-Eye #3 a few nights ago. It is from 1969. I picked it up at a thrift store not knowing if it was complete. It was fun because it was 150 pieces standard square shape but very random pieces. I love random pieces but the standard rectangular or square shape. What are your thoughts on the photomoasics (i am not sure if that is what they are called) puzzles? Lighthouse.
