I had never done a normal jigsaw puzzle until i saw this video. Only level 9 or 10 solving puzzles. U made me go buy a ravensburger black crypt. Was a great time solving it :) tnx for a nice video. I challenge you to take on a Yuu Asaka pussle ;) if this gives you a headache, an Asaka puzzle will make your head explode. They are so cool. And you would be a cool solver i think. Happy puzzeling

I need Karen to revisit this now that she has done so many solid color puzzles (and she has the other Krypt puzzles too besides the silver one now LOL) she was so frustrated here but she’s gotten stronger so now we have to get a redo!! Unlikely since her queue is full rn and she’s doing huge puzzles but hopefully in three years maybe 😂!!

You have inspired me to buy and complete my first ever "real" puzzle, which was the silver Krypt. It took about 25 hours over 5 days but it was an incredible experience! So incredible that I ordered the black one too and am currently awaiting delivery. Let's see how long my sanity will hold together. You are amazingly inspirational when it comes to puzzles and your videos are very entertaining! Thank you! Update: The black one is done! It took half as long and I ordered another silver and the gold version. They are going to look beautiful on the wall over the couch!

The most difficult Krypt will most likely be the first one you do, regardless of color since you have to establish your own system of sorting and learn to look at the shapes of the pieces as a beginner of sorts. The most fun or entertaining for me is the Silver one, which I also think is the hardest one after establishing such system since many of the spiral pieces are shaped just like regular ones so they are often lost in the "wrong" pile during sorting. The silver one has such unique and interesting pieces, I just love it! Now, I can't speak for everyone about which is best or most fun so you'll just have to find out for yourself which is best for you. With that, I wish you luck!

I have completed all 3. The first in 64 hours (gold), the second in 109 hours (black) and the third in 52 hours (silver). The stopwatch started the moment I purchased it, as soon as I got home I took it out of the box and started. Terrible and fascinating experience. But I'm the only one in Switzerland to finish all three of them in a week. :)

Kuddos for finishing them all, the black one was my first puzzle since i had stopped doing some when i was a child ! Although there are only 168 hours in a week so unless you made a typo somewhere (or never stopped the watch even for rating, sleeping or other breaks) i don't think you finished them all within a week (your Time is still impressive though!) ^^

My wife and I just finished this while we were doing the whole quarantine thing. Pretty good puzzle, first time I've done one in probably 15 years, maybe we'll even get the silver and black for the next apocalypse. My mom got this puzzle for me probably 20 years ago though, and ours didn't come with an answer key. I took the same approach you did separating the pieces by types of "nodes," whether they were part of the spiral or squares, and finally by the direction of the cross hatching texture on the pieces.

You should do disneys "worlds most difficult puzzle" same picture on both sides but the back is roted 90 degrees and it's honestly insane!!

Alissa Garcia I did the Dalmatians World’s Most Difficult puzzle. I can say that it was not at all fun and I will never do another one. I glued it so I could show it off but that was the most hateful puzzle I have ever done.

I had one of those 2-sided puzzle that the image was a 5 by 5 grid of a leprechaun solving a puzzle. Each spot of the lineless grid, the leprechaun placed one piece and his expression got slightly more happy.

I just started this "silver" puzzle. My brother gave it to me about a year ago and I'm just getting around to working on it. Even using the guide, it took me about 5 hours just to do the outer edge. It's hard. It's painful, but I'm determined to finish it.

I did the gold krypt and when I saw the envelope with "puzzle guide" on it I was like:"I'm going to open this when I finished the puzzle"

I'm currently working on this puzzle myself and must say that i like the challenge of this! But i already love to do my puzzles blindly - without looking at the box - so that's nothing new for me anyway :D For this one especially: When you go easy on it and take breaks, just letting it sit for some days and getting back whenever you feel like it, that makes it for me! And i guess the fact that it's not just the same old rectangular shape for every piece. Thanks for your videos, Karen. I quite enjoy them!

I ordered this puzzle from Amazon a few weeks ago. I have to be in a very clear frame of mind to even open this challenge. Great video.

I finished it just earlier today and what really helped me was to sort the pieces by size, not by shape, because of how the pieces become bigger the closer they are to the spiral's edge. Then for the outer part there weren't as many pieces left and it went quite smoothly. Overall I found this puzzle to be very fun, I'll definitely get the other colors ^^

I just found out this puzzle comes in pink and not just 'silver' (and black, white, etc). It might be worth it in pink. Also I love the idea of using this one to paint.

These are by far my favorite. Started with silver, just finished the gold, can't wait to start on the black.

I'm pretty sure I won't do this puzzle but it was interesting to see you do it. I'm not sure maybe. I name my pieces 1 leg, 2 legs, 3 legs, 4 legs and no legs. You're amazing Karen! Happy puzzling!

I have this puzzle in gold. Started it a couple of months ago but put it away as I was going out of town for a while. You've inspired me to bring it out again for my winter project. Love the idea of having a foam board to put it on. That has saved me so much time and trouble. Thanks for showing us the way.

I got this as a gift a while ago. It took me a few hours but I did it! I felt awesome after I completed it! I really enjoyed doing the center.

Ravensburger upped their game, Karen. It's available in pink! Also, yes, podcasts are definitely a good idea while doing this. Pink doesn't make things harder or easier than the ~silver~ puzzle, though. It's just very pink.

I truly enjoyed putting this puzzle together, this Ravensburger Krypt puzzle was given to me by my son, and I gave it to him after I completed it.....when I put my puzzles together I glue them on brown paper and store them away for any one that would like them....I just enjoy putting puzzles together and looking at the finished produce/picture.

You taking it apart at the end was so satisfying to watch!

Hi Karen, I was very pleased to see your video in which you finish Krypt. In one week I did the gold one in 54 hours (54 hours since I bought it, at the beginning of last week) and yesterday at 3:33 I finished the black one. Now I still have the silver one you made, a very nice job, really compliments :)

I'm working on this now in self-quarantine. It is both an obsession and a torture for me. I admit I've been coloring in the answer key and looking for each individual piece one by one...it is a painstaking labor of love. I plan on framing this when I'm done.

NYC MAMAOFONE First off you buy puzzle glue which isn’t that hard to find and it’s usually like $4 then you just spread it across the puzzle with some sort of disposable plastic card and let it dry, then you buy a frame from Walmart for it for cheap but you have to make sure it’s at least 2 inches wider on both sides bc if not it’ll be too small and the puzzle won’t fit and then once you have the frame and the puzzle is done drying you glue it to the cardboard that came with the frame and then just frame it👍🏻

Oh my gosh no way in heck could I EVER. You are a saint for doing this puzzle.

I did this puzzle early in the beginning of the lockdown. I absolutely loved it. I also took many photos. Then gave the puzzle away. I like the idea of passing it on instead of sitting in a box stuck on a shelf and forgotten. I believe the biggest part of what makes this Ravensburger puzzle so different is it is an emotional journey that's unexpected.

I have never made this one. but I did make one, years ago, with cookies on - all the same cookies - and no defined edges. I LOVED it

This does look a lot of fun, super intrigued now. Might have to invest in one and see for myself!

I got he gradient one, really lovely design and fun to do!

Silver I did the silver and the golden one a couple of years ago and I really liked them. Normally I feel like you about jigsaw puzzles with big areas of all the same colour. I hate them and normally try to avoid this kind of puzzle. But the Crypt ones I actually liked very much. I can‘t even tell exactly why, but I had a lot of fun putting them together. By the way, the two Crypt puzzles are some of the few jigsaw puzzles, that I ever put in a picture frame and hung them up to my wall. And they‘re still there in their frames. At the moment I think about getting the black one, so I could have the collection complete.

🤯Karen, I name my piece shapes. The last kind you put in I call Tigger pieces because they look like Tigger bouncing on his tail. There are X pieces, people pieces, plus + pieces, 🤩

I name mine, too. The X pieces = "pinwheels", the ones with one male knob at the top and two female knobs on the sides = "ladies", one female knob at the top and two male knobs on the sides = "Fionas", the reverse of those = "Shreks," the long pieces = "tall mans", the really wide pieces = "fat boys". There's also the ones that look like a H = "dumbbells" and the anything with a fat knob on them = "running mans".

My word i love audiobooks never even crossed my mind to listen to one while doing a puzzle 😖

Ordered a bunch of puzzles to do while in quarantine including two Ravensburgers, solid gold and black. My first mistake was trying to do the gold Rbugergers. After getting the small middle circle done I was done. Told myself I needed more experience before I tackled a solid color no piece the same puzzle. I'm not ashamed of myself and quite happy with the decision to come back to it later. Good for all of you who have completed yours. Well done. Me, I wait. Lol.

I was saving this "Silver" for a special treat. I feel like I read the ending of a book! (I'll still so the puzzle.)

I love solid colour puzzles as long as there are unique pieces. I would do this one completely blind. It’s a very nice thing to hyper focus on on stressful days.

I have this puzzle and finished it multiple times. I really like it and bought it in a second colour as well when I finished the SILVER one. I find it kind of meditating to search for the right pieces just by shape and sometimes try them one by one.

Yeah, that puzzle would have took me weeks to finish. I just completed a regular 1000 piece puzzle and it took me three days at about 5-6 hours per day. Great job on your end!

We (my 8 year old and I) have just started this puzzle today :) I'm very excited by the challenge since I haven't done any puzzles this summer

i'm from ravensburg and my brother works at the place where they make these puzzles and games and I just wanna say thanls for making this 😁

We (My Mum, my sister and I) got this Puzzle from a coworker of my Mum. We just started it like two days ago, totally it took us around 4 to 5 hours. I actually loved it. I did most of it myself since I just fell in love with it. I used the guide but that was actually one of the reasons why I loved it. Since just the fact of sorting out the pieces and then try all the pieces that could fit. I‘m actually thinking about getting the Black one.

It has been a while, about 17 years ago, and I loved it. I did not use the guide, but I did not set me a time limit. And actually, a few days ago I bought the new pink one.

I still love your video. Thank you so much to inspire me to do puzzles. :)

I absolutely loved this puzzle. I finished mine a few years ago. However I had mine in an art bag with every puzzle I have ever done and the entire bag and all the puzzles were destroyed due to a leak in the storage unit. I did today find this one on Amazon back in stock and purchased it again. Can't even wait get it.

I love puzzles and am so happy I stumbled upon your channel :) I finished my 3rd Krypt puzzle (each took me about a week, I did them during virtual meetings and on the weekends, and without looking at the box of the key) and I think the silver is my favorite. The black was kind of fun but challenging and the gold was miserable. Do not recommend the gold if you’re trying to get it done quickly, it’s a pain in the butt and I didn’t get the outside fully together until almost the end (inside is definitely easier)! Satisfying at the end but exhausting.

Ravensburger is the best company when it comes to puzzles! I love that company so much and only order from their website they are great. by the way i live in germany. And i love how you solve the puzzles.

Completed the black Krypt puzzle earlier this week! Tried to do it without the answer sheet or box...managed the edges and most of the centre circle but then got stuck and opened the envelope! Took 6 days overall, mainly in evenings though. You definitely reach a point where it feels never ending!

I've started working on the pink version of this puzzle yesterday. I think the fact that it's pink is currently what keeps me going, but I can already tell that it will take a while for me to finish it as I don't have a lot of time to work on it and it's pretty frustrating by design

I did the pink one years ago :) I think one thing that Karen missed is that the pieces are slightly textured and you can actually deduce the orientation of the pieces from the way the pattern of this texture runs without ever having to resort to the cheat sheet. Might be cheating, but you really do need all the help you can get.

I loved listening to your oppinion on this. I own and have made all three krypt puzzles. They have different designs and require different ways of looking at the pieces. I get where you were coming from with the "doing it for fun would have been better" comment, and I would agree. I would also say that the silver one is the hardest one to do, the paterns of the gold and black one are in my oppinion easier to work with.

The original Krypt series is from ~1997. The cuts are the same, but the colors of those older ones are blue (silver cut) and pink (black cut). There's also a reprint version of the blue/silver cut with an image, but that makes it just marginally easier as the image shows spirals spiraling inwards, following the cut. The point you make in the end is where it clicked for me woth this one: You have to let go of the habit to match colors and completely focus on the shape. Once that switch flips, it gets a lot easier. The sealed envelope is a remnant of that original issue, as those boxes don't show the entire puzzle and those envelopes have a big warning on them that they contain the solution.

My favorite puzzle! I t took me 5 days to put this one together. I felt like a puzzle master😄

Nooooooooo thanks! Neither the SILVER one nor any of the other colors! I did get the one with all the colorful birds. I did it in 2 days and LOVED it! It was like doing 18 individual puzzles. I am a beginner puzzler and found this one SO satisfying. Thank you for all your videos!

I once did a normal 300-piece Ravensburger from the backside.

I started mine today which was sitting in my cupboard along with a gradient puzzle for a few years as I got them as gifts but they looked tough

I ordered this puzzle (the SILVER one) off of Amazon and started it today! I saw this video on your channel snd thought it would be a fun challenge. Pretty intense so far, and using the cheat sheet! We'll see what happens.

Silver. Nice work Karen. I can't imagine staring at one color for that long.

I came across this puzzle brand new still in cling wrap while I was thrifting for puzzles so of course I brought it home with me. It was so hard!! There was also some quality issues with ends lifting up on a couple pieces and so many times where pieces looked like they fit but only when you took them out and held them up to the light could you tell. Even then it was sometimes still a maybe. I think overall it was a sometimes fun sometimes exasperating puzzle

I personally tend to do landscape puzzles. But I'm always willing to try new and difficult ones. Can I also say that I thought your video where you completed the puzzle with your feet was impressive. I personally would've given up so kudos to you. Have a wonderful day. Silver.

I did the gold one and asked for the black one for Xmas!!! :-) :-) :-) I guess doing it without time pressure and getting really into the world of shapes is helping. I loved it, but sure we all have different preferences.

Watching this almost 4 years later, I'm amused because now you have a solid color puzzle collection and love them! Single color puzzles are NOT my thing. The silver was nice, though.

I love trying to challenge myself with hard puzzles. Sometimes I'll do an "easier" puzzle in a unique way (i.e. without doing any of the edge pieces until the very end, or starting at one corner and building out, etc.) and sometimes I'll buy a puzzle like this just because it's supposed to be super difficult. The best/hardest puzzle I've ever done was the Rebbit New York City 3-D puzzle from many years ago. I've never done this one, and I don't think I'd pick the SILVER one for myself, but I would enjoy trying the black or gold ones, I think. Thanks for the video! I'd love to see you try one of the 3-D puzzles on your channel sometime and see what you think of it. Those have always been my favorite puzzles.
