Usually, you will see results quickly. I do the beep first followed by the buzz. Then, over time, I just did the beep. You need to be consistent, and when the behavior stops, the dog likely will test it out, and if the beep goes away for a while the bad habit will return, so don't give up too soon.

There are rubber caps that go on the shock parts. Unfortunately on this model it doesn't appear they can screw off. I found that the rubber caps come off, but electrical tape should work.

I agree. They say it doesn't really hurt the dog, but I don't see the need for it.

Shock collars can create fear, anxiety and aggression in your dog toward you or other animals. While they may suppress unwanted behavior, they do not teach a dog what you would like them to do instead and therefore should not be used

I do not use shock, just beep and vibration. What would you recommend instead? I use it as part of telling them what to do next if they are not listening. After about 3 minutes of training I stop because their attention span is only so much.

They absolutely teach them what you want, if used right.

That is true. My dog doesn't like the vibration, so I use that and say "no," and after a while, no is sufficient or holding the remote without doing anything. The key is to only do it for a little while at a time or they get bored and ignore the training.
