I wish...

I actually wrote an essay in school about one of their tracks and the artwork, I played on the backrooms and what it’s senses were like; how it smelled, how it tasted, how it’s seen, and how it’s heard. it ended up being 3 pages and ended up giving me an A+. My teacher ended up loving it so much she wanted a novel of it, and my classmates found it so interesting. But that was my old school, and the files have been completely lost. I’m still thinking about it and how sad I am that I don’t have the “novel” that I wrote anymore.

Same sort of feeling. That strange, non-existence; something WAS here, but now it’s gone. It’s something that seems (or sounds in the case of vaporwave) familiar but it’s just off, and drousy-feeling. For example; seeing a once-populated mall now dead and abandoned in weird lighting that makes the rooms look unfamiliar.

This may have already been said but they both seem to be related to hauntology and being outside of time. There’s an aspect of that to it and a lot more but I’m not articulate enough to go into detail. Samuel Beckett play locations create the same feeling e.g. the skull room in End Game and the surrounding waste land.

Inbetween 2 worlds has gotten me through a lot of tough times this year, that plus a night drive in an area I’m not familiar with is something to behold

And the statues are works of Giulio Paolini, an artist first associated with arte povera. He uses reproductions and casts of actual antique statues that can be found in classical museums. He often puts a real statue face to face with a plaster one (like the one on the cover) to question the perception of sculpture by itself through the history of art, from Antiquity to contemporary times. I think we can find similarities with vaporwave: music questions itself through the prism of its own material + how we, the humans of the 21st century, receive and perceive the music of times gone by.

Between Two Worlds remains an important album in my life. I cant remember exactly how I stumbled across the album, but I remember the feelings that I felt when listening to the album were... so different from what I felt on a daily basis. If I could describe these feelings up in one word, it would be nostalgia. Each song takes me to a different place, a place that feels oddly familiar and yet, I have no recollection of whatsoever. This album to me is almost like what sleep paralysis would be like, its frightening and eerie but yet, you feel relaxed and calm. Each song is haunting and eerie but yet oddly ever so calming and relaxing, almost like a lullaby of an empty room, an empty art museum. It was an album that left a great impact on me and my life and had brought me comfort in a time in my life where hopelessness, despair, fear, guilt, worry, and suffering was all that I felt. This album was always a comfort to me and to this day, it always will. A soft and gentle yet eerie and slightly dark album like a massage to my ears as I close my eyes and let my mind wander into the realms that it ever desires to seek within the labyrinth of Infinity Frequencies world. A world of mystery, emptiness, dimly lit rooms, halls, places that evoke images of memories and nostalgia long gone, and places where we fear to dread but have no choice but to keep going. It remains one of my favorite albums of all time and I am grateful to have stumbled across this eerie timeless masterpiece of a vaporwave project. No other album could ever EVER evoke the feelings that I felt within this album. Feelings of fear and of solitude but at the same time gives me feelings of comfort and security in a way and makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. For me, it's a balance of ying and yang, light and darkness, comfort and fear. Fear of what lies into the unknown in the dark, but also the curiosity that we have that we cant resist. So we dwell a little deeper into our decent. A decent that leads down the room, between two worlds....

Perfectly said. I have had a very similar experience with the album and can confirm -- it's enigmatic ballroom dance of eerie and comforting feelings is incredible.

Liminal Spaces are probably my favorite form of photography. And this album is right up my alley.

This was a very special video for me to watch. I was a childhood friend of Infinity Frequencies, and although we grew apart over the years, we have still remained in contact. He showed me some of the music he was making and I was instantly enchanted with it. And to see his work get the recognition it deserves makes me feel so proud of him and the calming, slightly eerie, but nonetheless reflective and thought-provoking music he produces. I wish nothing more than continues success in his endeavors asnd yours as well!

This is such a surprise. I found Infinity Frequencies like half a year ago and been listening to this album since then. Perfect for studying or sleeping.

When you droppin’ that Everything at the End of Time by the Caretaker video Pad? I love everything about this album and how it works with the artwork.

the cover and the name of the album itself reminds me so much of twin peaks red room and the concept of no place

The place between is where we would find a moment of clarity. Under the light we see ourselves clearly, and the worlds on both sides being chaotic and confusing expressed by the darkness.

Infinity frequencies is my second most listened to artist of all time, such beautiful music

Infinity Frequencies was one of the very first people in this genre that I discovered, and right from the first time I knew there was something special about it. Yeah all their albums might just be looping sound tracks but despite this they manage to fill me with so many different emotions ranging from happy, sad, confused, frightened, curious, you name it. The albums covers they choose always fit the theme of that particular album super well, and Between two worlds has always been a particular favorite. Computer decay is also really good! But I would highly suggest giving them all a listen 😉

I discovered your channel in early June this year. And although I had of course heard of it, I had never paid much attention to vaporwave before this. Now, it is one of my favorite music genres. Thank you Pad

yay thanks so much for covering this album, i'm always so down to hear people talk about IF. one of my favorite artists of all time.

I posit that for as much attention to Liminal Spaces, there should be something related to Liminal Time(s) as well - I'd also recommend listening to "Seraphim" by How To Disappear Completely, it was recommended after fulling listening to EATEOT by The Caretaker in its entirety. It found its way to a lot of people who listened to the full 6 hours of Everywhere at the End of Time, and you can find many listeners of it in the comnents of Seraphim and the rest of How to Disappear Completely's work

I agree, there’s a great album by Coil called ANS which captures this. It manipulated time in a way similar to a Tarkovsky film. The synth used on the album is the same type as used on some of the Tarkovsky soundtracks so it must be intentional.

I've been obsessed with Infinity Frequencies since I discovered Computer Death last year, and I managed to snag a vinyl copy of this album and Into The Light, then sure enough here comes Pad with a fantastic video on this amazing album! Thanks for giving this the shoutout it deserves, it's super fun to be part of stuff like this.

Infinity Frequencies is the first ever vaporwave artisit that I discovered, his style is really distinctive than others and that's why I still listen to them. "Antiques" and "Pulses" are my favorite of them all. It brings such nostalgia

This is one of those times I wish my memory wasn’t as good as it is. I can remember back to when I was 18 months old- possibly even farther. I’ve been in liminal spaces before sure, but I remember what they look like and very often they’re just furniture stores or hotel hallways. I guess that’s part of the reason I love them. I can guess where I’ve been in the images. Pad, I know that museum very well and you were in one of the dinosaur rooms, World of Birds, the stairwells, or even the Hayden Planetarium.

Ive been wondering where does that pic came from...

Recently listened to this album in its entirety and really liked it! The vinyl looks so amazing. 😍 I also really like the theme you hit, as this summer I was hit with the crossroads to either continue taking advantage of my university's flexibility to complete a new BBA in Accounting, or if I should try to find a better paying job with the credentials I already have. Wound up pressing forward with an additional class, but am now wishing I had just continued the job search. 😅 At least a decision was made either way. As the statues of this album can attest, more is lost by indecision than wrong decision.

I honestly love this album on how beautiful it is… after listening to “Between Two Worlds” I started getting more into photographing liminality discovering new closed and open air spaces around my city… Imho it’s best to be played around a building with hallways or if you run a room closing your eyes n letting them drift outwards or if your walking alone at night… Then I grabbed then entire discography of Infinity Frequencies except for the earliest two… have played them only when it’s the right timing for it… I’ve never had my mind more open to the thought of playing music n photographing everything ❤

You know what this album reminds me of? The old PS1 Tomb Raider games; that was stuck in my mind the entire ride through. A lot of the areas in that game have this aura of strange, eerie mystery between the silence and small musical stings as you explore. Even today, I still get this mild chilling unease when I watch footage of the games, and childhood me was legitimately scared. Between Two Worlds threw me right back into that mindset. Very beautiful, yet very uncanny.

Its so weird, after your intro the first thing that came to mind in "Leyland Kirby - We, so tired of all the darkness in our lives". I do not know what it is but the album art seems sooo familiar and the music is the same. it freaks me out but at the same time is comforting...its so conflicting lol. You use such descriptive language it’s amazing

I was obsessed with liminal when i started to think about them with nostalgia around the age of 17/18. It reminded me of my childhood, when i went shopping with my parents or when i visited my grandparents in Canada as a kid. All these weird places. And all these liminal spaces i see from the US and Canada remind me of those times. This is why i got obsessed with vaporwave and the aesthetics of it. So much so that i also started my own series of partings inspired by the liminal spaces i have around my town here in Italy after that some people noticed the resemblance of certain landscapes i painted. one of the coolest phenomena around the internet and irl probably.

I had a feeling this album would become important when I first saw it listed on VaporMemory

yooo i remember listening to this in college, like RIGHT before covid, great vaporwave release. the caretaker comparisons are accurate

morphic change between focus rendering. When when the light ticks at a destination.

I’ve had this sci for story in my head for a while, which I don’t really plan to write, about a world where mars had been transformed into this grid structure after humans got there, and after the earth was deserted, the chambers were the last remnants of human civilization. I don’t know how, but I remember the album cover being an inspiration.

if you like infinity infrequencies then you should check out visions by sunset virtual! Very Similar

babe wake up new pad video with my niche music taste dropped

There was something about 8809... the architecture had only been comparable to the early spread period, but it felt very modern in comparison. Trade was common, yet the inhabitants did not consume much. Teaching and bureaucracy seemed natural for this setting. Pictures of art exhibits from this moon are shown below...

i always find weird everytime i stand before the definition of "place between one destination and the next" but this is so subtle that i have to agree. i've always saw a sense of picturing something static out of a transition in this definition, which is not what i feel with liminal spaces. But... between a DESTINATION to the NEXT is a whole damn thing. my feeling of liminal spaces comes from my childhood, when i simply got much energy enough to pay attention to everything if the time was given. The liminal space is that weird sense that emerges from boredom when you keep yourself in a place for way longer than expected. You see everything in that same ambient for so much time, and you feel almost trapped because you know you have anything else to do. You have to keep waiting for your mom finish the shopping in that mall. You have to wait for your parents to pick you up at that kids party that got bored for a while just now. You just see everything. You can measure how old is that place. The place almost get a personality. You see it landscaping all that people interacting within this place that you almost can see the place interacting back. It suddenly becomes a destination, after all, you are there to see all of this... you are just waiting for the chance to find the next destination.

For the megelophobic folks out there, what if that dark room in the back ground was actually large enough to contain the planet Jupiter?

I feel that between two worlds is a better capture of liminal space than eateot, between two worlds have a more late 20th century feeling that is more relatable to us than the decaying 1920s-1940s music of eateot. Eateot and the rest of The Caretaker's makes me imagine an old ballroom/mansion/hotel that has been abandoned but comes "alive" at night with the ghosts that refuse to leave the memories of their youth behind. Between Two Worlds on the other end makes me feel like being trapped in an empty office/kindergarten/mall that has hasn't been in use for a while but seems to still be operational with their fluorescent lights and air conditioning still on.
