Dodge Polara 500 VS Challenger R/T: Dodges drag'n in the streets | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 104
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
After a long break, Tom is back on the road hunting for cars in Traverse City, MI, in a 1970 Dodge Challenger as his new conversation starter. One of the biggest struggles when hunting for old cars during the workweek is people are never home. This proves to be an issue as Tom strikes out several times before finding a diamond in the rough. With the taillights peeking out of the garage, Tom spots a Mopar that he has never seen in all his years of barn find hunting, A 1966 Dodge Polara 500.
P.S. - If you stick around, you may see these two Mopars go head-to-head.

Best line: "I'm just a car junkie, Tom. I'm not the first one you've met." I absolutely love that!

That's the one that stood out for me as well. I like Mr. Wilson, he seems like a good guy.
How I missed this series! Tom is such a great story teller!!
Haven’t been feeling to good today, but this put a huge grin on my face, this is what car culture is all about 😁😎
this is the best episode hands down. not only because of the cars, but because Tom got a guy to uncover his toy and fire it up again and have fun in it again. who knows how long that mopar would have been sitting in that garage if Tom hadn't come along

Honestly it was really wholesome. I can guarantee the guy had a lot of fun in the car after Tom left.
Ketchup bottle with gas, “watch your eyebrows”, yep, this guy is a car junkie for sure. Great episode, thank you.

Uncle Tony would have used it to fill the float bowls too. But he uses an old Amway bottle.
Couldn’t be better restart for the series. Glad to see Tom hunting again and in '70 Challenger. What a treat. Well done. Looking forward for more.
This is why you keep your garage treasures always capable of being fired up. You just never know when Tom is gonna knock on the door.
That Polara is my kind of car, very cool.

I still have my Dad's old 1973 Dodge Polara California Highway patrol car number matching car with a 440 police Interceptor 727 transmission.
I love this! Love driving up to Traverse City in the summer, love '66 Polaras and Monacos, love '70 Challengers, love 440s! I'm dying to find a '66 Polara wagon, myself.
It is great to see the A Team is back on Hagerty.
I would own that Polara. My grandparents had one and I remember sitting in the back seat one year when I was around 6 years old and a bee flew inside and I chased it around the rear window and it stung me. My finger swelled up to twice its normal size and that was the day I found out that I was allergic to bee stings. The Polara was unharmed during this incident though dad did have to clean the bee guts off of the back window. I don't know what engine that Polara had but grandpa had loud exhaust on it and liked to drive with his foot to the floor.
This is my new favorite episode of Barn Find Hunter. Car guys and gal hanging out talking cars and having fun. Love it.
I can't believe how much I smiled watching this episode. I love stuff like this. Just plain ole guys that love their cars.
Damn that burn out put a smile on my face!!! So glad to see this series back! 🤩😎
Omg, so happy to see you Tom Cotter!😎
Yes, new barn find hunter! Shame so many people werent home, the pickup used as an advert looked really nice too!
It's good to see your back Tom!!
Great video. Mr Wilson is ready made for this show, this guy loves his car and really knows his car.

Don't forget the wife, she was very knowledgeable also. rattling off specs and showing us she is a car person too.
Tom, you had me worried there!!! You can't imagine how many times I popped over to see if there was a new BFH episode over here at the Hagerty channel. So glad to see one and a great one at that! 👊👊👊👊👊
I just rescued a '66 Fury I 4 door sedan with a 318. A car nobody wanted but I saw the potential and got it running, driving and stopping. It had been sitting for many years with 98,000 miles. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it drives and it gives me the fix I need for something classic to drive and not worry about a ding or a scratch.
Great episode. Always the eagle eye and Tom made Cliffs year by stopping to talk about his Polara. The Drag race was icing on the cake for Cliff. So cool.
Oh man, Uncle Tony is busy ruining his keyboard right about now watching this… I have always loved the boxy early-mid 60s look and definitely enjoy the Polara’s look. Probably a real hoot as long as you’ve got a sugar mama to pay for the gas 😜😁🤣 🖖😎👍
Nice to have you back at it Tom. Glad you make it through in good health too!
Glad your back. After a large drought of seeing American cars, its nice to see you cover an American car again. These are the only ones I am really interested in.
So cool! Love seeing people come together, Bond and make friendships over cars that’s what it’s all about! Plus you probably got him to drive the car more which is even better
Bravo Tom. Great to have you back on the road with such a wonderful video.
Yea yea Tom is back… Life is good again!!!
BFH LIVES!! You have no idea how many of us thought you were finished with this gig. Sooooo happy to see Tom & crew back on the road. Well done guys! And...THANK YOU!
That center console really ups the value of that Polara.
I grew up in the 60's and I remember those Dodge Polara's. 👍👍👍
I had a 1966 Dodge Polara, 383 two barrel carb. What a great car. At times I had it up to 95 mph, I had about a third of the gas peddle left yet. My mother had a 1970 Dodge Monaco, 383 two barrel carb. I had that up to 95 mph and had even more gas peddle left. I eventually owned a 1972 Dodge Dart, 318 two barrel carb. The Dart, not so much, after the Polara and the Monaco.
Had to tune in to this one. My dad had a 1966 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible. It had a 383 in it and it also had A/C which was I believe one of the first convertibles you could get with A/C. It ran on leaded gas so when they stopped selling leaded, it was parked in the garage for a few years. It was sent out to pasture (literally) on a friends farm and kinda forgotten. Never have seen another one until I saw one in a parking lot being sold about 20 years ago. Stopped immediately, jumped out of my car and talked to the guy selling it. He had the original sales title and it had my dads name on it. Couldn't believe it!

I love that there are great cars like this hidden right in Hagerty's back yard
One of the Best Barn find hunters.!! Coming all the way from Vancouver Island Canada, Happy Barn find hunting.
Yeaaaaaaaaa! You’re back! Thank goodness…..missed this show sooooooooo much. Thanks Tom. And Hagerty…..
I don't know quite what it is but, Tom Carter is a great guy. Outstanding story tell and every car guy and girls BEST FRIEND!!!! It's like when some one you know and care about and haven't seen in a long time. It's like you never missed a day and the conversation just flows naturally. You really did just make my day. It's been a tough one for me and this was something to bring a smile to my face. Thank you.
welcome back Tom!
Ow man, this was a really really nice episode!! Just guys on the block racing
Well, that was fun!
So good to have you back Tom! I loved this episode, bring us more!

Glad to have new episodes of Barn Find Hunter. It is my favorite KZread show.
Really pleased to see you back Tom. You're the reason I started watching Hagerty. Been missing your well produced, totally enjoyable episodes.
FANTASTIC, Tom is on the hunt in barns again. I missed the stories of fellow car nuts and you guys are hunting powered by Mopar - got to love it.
This video made my day - thanks Tom and crew for the video! A couple of cool guys with very cool cars!
Good to see you back ! I was starting to worry. My dad had a 65 when I was in high school. He was mad as hell when I took it to auto class and tuned it up. I think it scared him ! 🍻 my friend, and be safe.
Tom; Absolutely the best clip to date. So many of us watching can relate to this gentleman. Thanks!
This episode brought a tear to my eye, incredible story and souls! True and above all real to the motor racing and cars passion, which I guess is what drives us all here for. Thank you for this channel.
Man , so this is what I was missing ! You ,Tom,driving back there, looking for (and finding) cool cars, and cool guys an gals !!! Thank you!!
Great to see you back Tom missed you from your many fans in England!!! Loved those episodes you did over here 2 years ago!!!!
Great to see Tom and the crew back on the road again!
That's a cool find! It's not always all about finding the very desirable cars just got to find good people who take good care of their cars.
Hell Yeah. !!! Welcome back , Tom and Crew ! 👊🏼
This episode is making me homesick for Michigan. Thanks Tom! Great guest, great show! You are the best barn finder out there!
Woohoo! A new Barn Find Hunter 😃 So stoked to see this today. It's been way too long between drinks. Cheers to you Tom and your crew of automotive archaeologist 👍👍 Longing for next installment already
Welcome back Tom!! I'm watching this from New Zealand. I am a MOPAR guy, so love this episode.
Happy to see you back on the track, Tom, keep it going! Looking forward for Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 105!
This is such a great show for us car guys ... simple, no drama / bs, real people, real cars.
Back in 1969 a year before I went into the Navy I had not a 66 Polara but a white /maroon bucket seat 65 Polara 500 with a 426 wedge and a 4 speed all factory..love it as a 19 year old it was pride and joy and never saw another...sold it because I didn`t think I could still afford the $50 a month payment..what a goof huh?..oh well not untill just a few year ago did I find out just how rare it really was..like only 4 made 2 hard tops like mine and a convertable and someone even ordered the same car in a station wagon now that would have been crazy...never did find out where it went..wish I was smart enough to safe paper work on like the vin etc..thanks Tom glad your back big fan here Bob in Pgh.
great to have you back Tom .. always enjoyed this series 👍👍
What a cracking re-start Tom. Still at the top of your game!
Great to have you back Tom, love your work.
Very cool. Same condition as my 66 Coronet 500 with patina and primer. Dad bought it new and now I take care it. Memories for a lifetime.
Great to have this show back, "you have been missed" !!
YESS! Mannn.. i've missed this a lot! Thanks guys for getting back at it. 💪🏽✌
When I was a kid my parents owned a 66 Dodge Monaco in dark turquoise metallic with spinner hubcaps. That car got a LOT of attention when new. Once on a trip out west a guy asked if it was a custom! So pretty rare even when new. That was our favorite family car ever.
Thanks! Glad you're back!!!👍
Glad the show is back. Also refreshing to hear an owner understand the difference betweeen rare and desirable.
Welcome back, Tom!! Missed you and that is an AWESOME Polara!!
I AM glad youre back in business. Thanks again.
Wow! I've got a 1966 Dodge Polara 500 convertible with a stock 440. It's nice to see someone else with a car like mine that seems to really appreciate it. It's a great car and it deserves more love.
Love this episode! What a great piece of iron you found there, old car owners who preserve the car, not make it a trailer queen are really amazing, and love to feel the petrol in their veins, wind in their sparse hair, what an amazing time to share the hobby!
Was just thinking of Tom and Barn Find Hunter a couple of days ago. So great to see you back !
Commenting for the algorithm so that more car people might be able to watch this fantastic video.
Good video. I also enjoy that you do videos on just any car not just the big money cars. I appreciate seeing cars such as this one I he ones you don’t see too often.
Cliff is one of those guy I could crack a beer with and listen to his stories for hours. Great episode.
What a great start to my day! Missed these shows, great job.
Welcome back Tom! Awesome return video!
That Polara is too cool! Love it! Old Mopars are iconic.
When I was a kid , my maternal grandmother had a '66 Dodge Polara but her's was a 4 door and was copper brown with a front bench seat and a column shift automatic . I still have fond memories of that car .
Soooooo glad to see you and BFH back on the road!
Great Episode!!! So glad you are back on the road barn find hunting. Really missed it.
Had a Polara nearly identical. Same year, color, original 383 2 barrel. It was a 4 door hardtop though. Not a 500. Column shift, bench seats, drum brakes all around on single piston master cylinder (wouldn't stop!) Floor button high beams. No air or cruise. Gas cap hidden behind rear license plate that would flip down (would leak gas when flooring it). Had something like 273 gears and would do 1 gear 0-60 pulls that werent bad for a nearly 2.5 ton car. Had a trunk you could fit another car in. Always loved the tail lights especially at night. Once hit black ice doing 50 and did a couple 360's down the middle of the road. Ran backwards into a hill and didnt do a thing to it (thankfully not even the lights). It did shove dirt up the tailpipe and my friend said rev it up! and it blew it all out. Someone said to me the 4 frameless windows were good for driveby's because they had no b pillar. My dad said as a police officer they used have these and after washing them would take them out on the freeway and dry them off 100+ mph. Fun car and I kind of miss it. The guy was right about unique but not really worth much. 😀
Wow...that car was originally sold by Carl Burger Dodge in La Mesa, Ca. They're still in business today. La Mesa is just east of San Diego. Cool video, Tom.
Welcome back!!! What a great episode and what a cool MoPar family. C bodies are awesome!! Thanks for taking us along!!
I am glad to see a new episode! I was worried for a bit!
Glad to see another Barnfind Hunter video.
very cool Tom love the old mopars my wife and I bought a brand new 69 roadrunner convertable back in the cay and to this day I still am kicking myself in the ass for ever getting rid of it glad to see you back at it
Glad to be watching this again.
Very cool, I’m mostly a Ford guy that loves all classic American V8! I’m so glad you back Tom, missed your show!
I am impressed the barn find Hunter driving a Old School Dodge Challenger 👍👍👍
What cool people! Good to see you back Tom.
Great to see you back buddy.
Was only thinking the other day, i hope Tom is ok, and then this , a classic return. Hope you can fire a few out to make up for the break.
Great to see the show back!
Great way to re-start hunting for cars. These look like fine people. Thanks.
