Conroy already stopped those rumors. He said Kadri is an important piece of the roster moving forward

@jonah.donohue yeah, but Tampa was ready to move on. It was clear even from the season before. I'm not saying that at some point, kadri may get traded. I just meant that at least this season, he is not going anywhere as far as what Conroy said

Welcome to the Calgary Flames - Doesn't matter how many times it's debunked, there are always rumours of players being moved. Especially veteran players with "large" contracts.
People suggesting Calgary will retain 50% for that number of years are absolutely insane
As a flames fan, I hope not. He had good chemistry with Zary & Popsicle, need vets to mentor the young guns. At least for a few years to lessen the burden of moving that contract

He is a guy who would maintain a winning culture during a rebuild, prevent the flames from turning into a forever rebuild team like buffalo or the oilers (oilers were dog garbage for a good 25 years don’t forget that)
Kadri is a "center' and the 'center' position is one of the most important positions because you have to play at both ends of the ice. The 'center' position is tough to fill and tough to play. 7 million is a bargain for that position and he has been in the league since he was 18 years old meaning he has lots of experience and was well coached. Center position on a line should be paid the most. Naz is a mentor and having the experience is valuable and will help the young prospects with confidence and progression. He has had Randy Carlyle, Ron Wilson, Mike Babcock, Dave Tippet, Peter Deboer, Dave Hunter as coaches. The guy is "well coached' understands the game and the position. Brings value and great vibes. Do your research around the league and compare the "center" position salary with the others and their productivities. You will find the answer to the question. That is Do you think Flames will move Nazem Kadri?
Would be surprised if a team takes him on. Kadri is 34 and still has 5 years left at 7 million AVV (that’s a big contract)

A playoff team at the trade deadline might pick him up, Calgary could retain salary. Bro, a cup contender would want Nazem Kadri

Honestly I could see a team that needs a 2c try and get him, obviously Calgary would need to probably retain 50%, and that’s a lot to pay for 5 years is the only problem, Conroy may be like fk that lol, but I could see Boston, avs, Carolina, any of those east contenders, hell maybe even a team like Utah, if they surprise the league, or one of those other west teams is going all in and wanna buy no matter what cap gymnastics they need to do. I could see Crosby leaving too and drai so if that’s a possibility no team is going to risk cap

@@David2Shifty_ salary retention for 5 years???
Please take Kadri and Salim.
It's right time to rebuild with Edmonton and Vancouver being where they are. Get a proper team when the new flames arena opens
Naz already has his Stanley Cup ring. Another one might be nice, but he doesn't have to hunt for it anymore. He can focus his energy and remaining time being a mentor and helping to develop a team - Possibly one that he then wins a second Cup with. I doubt seeking out another one would be in his priorities no matter how badly the team ends up struggling in this "rebuild". At most I could see him finishing out his contract with Calgary and signing a league minimum one year contract with the Leafs just so he can have one last run with the team that drafted him before retiring.
Kadri has a big contract

7 million a year and he generates offensive threats himself without the need of an all-world player to bump up his stats? Kadri got 75 points last season on an offensively dreadful team and competes better than most players. Not only this but he can shut down the opposing unit's stars and plays a strong D game. Hardly a "big" contract.

on the upswing before going to new stadium
I would like if it happens, but you also gotta hit the cap floor without holding 5 years worth of dead salary. Seems doubtful
Canadian hockey media is the worst! This isn't even a story stop making rumors because you have nothing else to talk about!

No Kadri isn’t going anywhere. Conroy said already that its not going to happen and that Kadri loves playing here.
As long as Kadri keeps his edge , plays disciplined and spikes his GAF meter he can stay. He needs to be more consistent. This isnt a retirement home and theres no excuse for tsking gsmes off!!!
They won't move him.
Hopefully detroit can work a trade, copp for Kadri. Wouldn't mind giving a first and a third for him if they retain enough for him to only make 5 off of detroit.
Now with Markstrom gone, mainstream media has to harp on another storyline. Kadri is leaving? Oh no, another player not staying in their current Canadian market. Clutch your pearls people. The drama. The drama.
Come to Vancouver
The way Calgary is going giving away players they will end 32 second overall in the league disgusting
Why would they do that in the first place
If love to see the avs pick him up

With what cap room lol
Hope the Flames don't trade all their good players away when they get good that's what they do all the time when they get good they always trade away their Stars
Again we have no players....... no team... this is .last year buying tickets for my family..paying full price for a substandard team.. lousy team again again and again..year after year....
Inflated bullshit. Salim should go back to high school volley ball cheer leader. 🤦♂
Someone will take Kadri, but they'll need to retain and/or take on a bad contract
How the hell does khadri even have a career past the leafs?
What a godsend it would be, if Calgary was to take Edmonton's worst contract, Nurse. Overpaid by 6 million a year, and a great way to get to the cap floor!!
Doesn’t seem like a rebuild to me
nazem calgary fits well
Kadri back to the Leafs.
Don’t trade him
With so many younger players, Calgary needs veteran leadership and Kadri helps a lot.
He will stay.
Trade KADRI is a good plan!! GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bottom line they need to meet the cap floor and they need Kadri to make it. I could see Coleman and Andersson being traded. But Huberdeau, Backlund and Kadri are needed for the cap floor
Kadri never really seemed to fit on the Flames team.
50% retain Kadri go back to the leafs for 1st rounder

One mid-20's pick for a 3.5 million dollar cap hit for 5 years?
Salim is not it. We don't care about your personal life nor your lame quips
He is way overrated. Flames should get rid of him, but they would have to eat most of the terrible Treliving panic contract.
I cam see Boston grabbing him
No. Saved you 7 minutes of pointless blathering.
They trade marktrom the flames will be done
They will if they are smart, Kadri is locker room poison. Of course, no one has ever accused the Flames management of being smart.

The Flames don't need to trade Kadri. They have the cap room to carry him. They can see if he keeps up the pace 3:40 from last season and if need be trade him at the deadline if he wants to. Kadri gets the final say anyway so it's up to him mostly.
