    I had low energy and mood, and I was told I had depression. A functional doctor realized that my testosterone and DHEA were low. Put me on hormone replacement therapy of low dose dhea and testosterone, and it was like a light switch. Test the hormones guys.

    @stevemarx6204 my testosterone wasn't even registering. It was completely depleted. I'm now on 40mg DHEA. It's life-saving.

    As an Iranian I know all about Saffron which is a big part of Persian cuisine, but everyone should be very careful about using it willy nilly as it can cause jittery nervousness and restlessness as well as sleeplessness if taken at night.

    My new mantra when I feel compelled to reach for games now "Low Dopamine, low dopamine" ...this helps me to put down phone & accept myself as I am Sometimes I just sit in front of something - then I start with one simple piece at a time & soon enough I've made a little progress!!!

    I was also. Eat right food. Like lots of vegetables and fruits. Do things which makes you happy. Be in nature. It will help you over the time. Be Surrounded by loved ones.

    In addition to the right diet and physical movement, I would suggest that you take time to process your trauma and recover from it. Same with disillusionment. If it interferes with your daily life or with your ability to live a daily life, then it's worth the effort to process and resolve your trauma.

    Saffron is expensive. There are cheaper natural remedies. Sam-e works for me. There are many more. Lots of green leafy vegetables helps, too.

    What about brain damage from SSRIs for decades (originally because I wasn't up to go to the gym with an MD friend one day after driving around SoCal all day every day for my job). We know that SSRIs mess with dopamine signalling and that is the area showing damage on several MRIs. Please address these symptoms that are a result of actual brain damage. Dementing process per several doctors.

    So at one point after divorcing a narcissist, a psychiatrist diagnosed me with bipolar disorder, put me on lithium and let me loose….. getting an appointment is impossible. A few months later I got myself of lithium. It’s been over 10 years . I changed my habits to deal with my depression, but still struggling with the diagnosis. I don’t think it was correct.

    Does saffron increase serotonin as well? I have tried antidepressants and they are horrible for my body! My doc did a neurotransmitter test and my serotonin is perfect but norepinephrine and dopamine are low. PEA is very low. I don’t want anything to increase serotonin since it causes me panic and insomnia but would love something just for dopamine and norepinephrine but NOT Wellbutrin since that increased OCD for me terribly. I had mold illness and have no thyroid 😞

    Exercise, Omega 3, saffron. All cheaper and less side effects than pills. Note: Last year (Nov) I consumed turkey (whole turkeys were on sale all month) in over 50% of my meals. My mood was significantly better.

    Make a decision that you don't need antidepressants to feel better. Work on the cause of the issue that made you depressed and start making changes. You can do it!

    Talk to your doctor if you feel ready. I was on them for just over 2 years. It took a month of reducing my intake and slowly taping of them. After a month I was fully of them. 1 thing that happened to me was the last 2 weeks. I had lost my appetite completely, and just trying to eat made me feel really uncomfortable. But this only lasted 2 weeks , and I was fine. Please don't just stop as the withdraws can be unpredictable.

    I put saffron in my smoothie, not a lot. However, I drink 2 smoothies a day...so I believe, I get enough of them.daily...
