Nir Barzilai, MD, is the founding director of the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging Research and of the National Institutes of Health's Nathan Shock Centers. He also discovered the first longevity gene in humans.
Dr. Barziali joined Dr. Amir Hadanny, Dr. Eric Verdin, Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Joseph Maroon for the 2024 Global Aging Consortium Longevity Summit in The Villages, FL.
Dr. Barzilai discusses The SuperAgers Initiative, a study of centenarians and their families. He also reveals the hallmarks and biomarkers of aging, the future for anti-aging drugs (such as metformin), and the difference between healthspan and lifespan.

How long do you want to live? My mom is 86 and can't really enjoy much. She still has her faculties but her mobility is poor and she can't drive anymore.
