I have not yet use any cake strips ever but most of the time when i bake there is no dome in my cake. I usually bake my cakes at 150-160°c for 35-40mins. Depending on the size and thickness, the timer maybe longer but same heat temp.

I guess (if possible) we could cut that dome off, cut it in half from the top (to make 2 semi-circles), put it together with filling and cut a curve from the edge to make a crescent shaped cake.

Hi there! So doming isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you're layering cake layers then the less doming the better as you won't need to trim as much off the tops :)

They do sell strips that wrap around the pan with velcro that stops doming.

It's bad when you want to layer cakes. You have to cut the dome off. For cupcakes and plain cakes, it's good.

if your cake don't dome you made it wrong, a cake that didn't dome is dense

Too much batter in the pan also makes it dome

To stop the problem just stop baking the cake at 180° to 165° and the cake will not have a dome
