Do we need a new Diabetes Association? [ADA Corrupt?] - 2024

Do we need a new American Diabetes Association???
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seems far more interested in protecting the profits of their million-dollar donors than in protecting people with diabetes from severe complications.
Low-Carb/Keto diets are the most researched dietary intervention for diabetes and yet the ADA can't seem to publicly recommend this way of eating. The ADA recommending High-carb foods (big-food profits) increases a persons need for expensive medications (big-pharma profits) and medical procedures (big-medicine profits).
Who doesn't profit from the ADA's current recommendations? PEOPLE WITH DIABETES, THAT'S WHO! The ADA was started back in 19XX by 6 doctors who got together and said, "We should start a diabetes association", and now the ADA has a 100 million dollar annual budget.
We can work together to create a diabetes association that puts people with diabetes first, not last!

I am a registered dietitian who came to realize in the early 2000s that what I was taught was a sham. I left my job at the hospital because I didn’t agree with the diet education I was required to instruct patients on ( ie heart healthy diet, “diabetic diet” to control diabetes…). I just could not continue teaching something I thought was bogus. I absolutely agree we need to get rid of the American Diabetes Association and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. They are all about the money!

I have been a Type 2 diabetic for 25 years. Early on I struggled to find any effective counseling for my diabetic condition. Finally I found a coach who put me on a strict Keto diet. Within months I shed weight down to my 'ideal' weight, my blood panels radically improved and I felt better than I had for a long time. I shared my experience with my primary physician - who has an independent, private practice - and she was elated at my results. I urged her to share this information with her other patients. She said that she would not do this because "other people do not have the discipline to do what you did". I was stunned that a physician would maje that decision for her patients, who she was morally and ethically obliged to care for to the best of her ability. I believe in your message becaused I have lived it and it works for me.

That early nurse training told me the current treatment was wrong. Plus we did not have young type 2 in the 60s. We were taught it was a disease of the elderly. I only came across one new 74 year old type 2 and it was me who found her using test tube & pipette. No test sticks then.

As a type 1 diabetic for the last 16 years, I found it very interesting that my endocrinologist, who was highly recommended by others, always said to me that I can eat what I want but just be sure to cover it with insulin. She is Italian, so I think the idea of not eating pasta or carbs to her is akin to not being alive. After years of struggling with my weight and my roller coaster blood sugars, I decided to go on a low carb diet on my own. After being on that diet and finding lots of success with both those issues, I went to see her but I did not tell her about my ketogenic lifestyle. After she saw how my A1C was much lower and that my weight had also decreased significantly she finally exclaimed, “are you on keto?!” Lol. I always laugh at that now. She basically admitted in that exclamation that I could not be so vastly improved without being on a keto diet. All those years and she had never mentioned a low carb diet as a viable alternative and yet only after I went on such a diet did she finally suggest that it might be good. The next time I saw her after that she checked my CGM to see how often I was in the good range for my blood sugars. Before a low carb diet, I was in range about 75% of the time and afterwards it was around 95%. She said to me, let’s see if we can keep you in range 100% of the time, which I replied, “ do you know anyone that is a type 1 diabetic that is in range 100% of the time?” And she remarked that yes, she has a woman that is on a keto diet, along with an active lifestyle that is 100% of the time within a good blood glucose range. I was a bit flabbergasted by that, considering that over a decade of care with her that she never once suggested a low carb diet as a remedy for me.

Needless to say I was shocked and felt there had been a pre-analytic error. I asked the provider to repeat the lab draw a week later and the results came back as 8.3. I knew that I would need to make a commitment and change my diet; however my internist wanted to immediately prescribe Metforim! I told her I would never take the medication! I changed my diet to follow low carbs and within six months my A1C was 5.8. Prior to “firing” my internist, I asked if she believed the ADA guidelines and if she was being funded by the pharmaceutical to which she never responded. Sometimes silence speaks for itself. Thank you for being honest with your approach to doing the right thing!

Yes. We need another organization focused on helping people rescue themselves from diabetes. I was diagnosed with full blown diabetes. I’m talking A1C almost 11 and fasting blood sugar of 290. My eyesight was failing. My feet and legs were swelling. My MD was direct with me. Unless I changed, I was heading to early death. Then, he prescribed me Metformin and presented me with a package of information from ADA. I was scared and motivated. I dug into the information with determination. I was astounded to see the ADA was basically saying I could eat anything I wanted. As long as I was on adequate amounts of meds my A1C would decrease. That didn’t make sense to me. Their plan. Meds for life. Bullshit. Keto diet and exercise reversed my diabetes. Eyesight improved. No more swelling. Blood pressure good. No more meds. I am 66 years old now. I was diagnosed at 64. If I can do it, anyone can.

Dr Berry, my husband had a large ascending aortic root aneurysm which included his valve-had both replaced. It was a big surgery to recover from. We were told that my husband, and commonly all patients having heart surgery needed insulin afterwards (at the time he was doing the SAD). Before he was discharged, a diabetes education nurse (who was obese) came and talked to him about testing his blood sugars, diet and the Metformin he was to take at home. He wasn’t diabetic, but probably pre-diabetic, although our doctor never said so. He was told to eat all kinds of carbs, was served them in the hospital (I was eating low carb at the time and thought it was pretty dumb). His blood sugars weren’t that high, and the Metformin was making him feel bad. He ended up stopping all of the diabetes stuff. It is appalling what is being done to innocent people who have absolutely NO idea that they really are being duped by the ADA. I also with a “high” cholesterol was told to follow the DASH diet which I believe was probably worse than what I was already doing (except for the M&M’s 😂). People in general are just ignorant of what a good diet should look like. I say, start the ADS! Maybe many, many people will be saved from a lifetime of expensive drugs and horrible health. God bless you for helping us! My husband found Dr. Westman’s channel and lost 40 lbs, I lost 15 doing it with him. He discovered your channel, and has been doing ketovore and carnivore, lost more weight, and is feeling SO much better, pretty much got rid of DASH arthritis, diabetes symptoms, and decreased his PSA. We say thank-you for all the time you put in to helping us live the proper human life! PS that was one of the reasons I retired from hospital nursing. Most people I got ready for surgery were T2D, and were told they were pre-diabetic but on meds, high blood sugars that they said were acceptable with their dr!

They are not trying to make you better there's no money in a healthy patient because how will they ever pay for their second home. I stopped following "Q" in the first six months total psyop. But one thing he said was that it won't be safe for these people to walk the streets. MDs ALLOPATHS have been doing nothing but killing people. And we haven'teven gotten to the lies about COVID yet. Buckle up folks things are about to get WILD and WHOLLY!!

I went to "Diabetes" clinic at a large metro hospital outside of Chicago. They were still promoting seed oils, low protein, no animal fat, and a little processed sugar was OK! I couldn't believe how archaic it was!!!

Working here in Atlanta at the children's hospital for 30 years I've had close experience with the peds endos . supported the ped in chief there. After that, practice ops supervisor. Desperately need a replacement for the current BS ADA. Thank You ,Dr Berry for making the bold move to create a challenge organization to the corrupt ADA.

Don’t forget WHO and NIH. Just name the three letter agency fronting as a health institute and you’ll find widespread greed and corruption.

Absolutely! And the teaching of Registered Dietitians needs to change. I took my daughter to a diabetes “class” at the local hospital taught by medical staff and registered dietitians and I couldn’t believe what they were teaching diabetics to eat! So many carbs! Whole grains and brown rice etc and lots of it! It was ridiculous! It’s time for change!

We need a new ADA that actually cares about humans instead of $$. It's sickens me on how much people are more worried about making money than actually helping other people be healthy...and bawl face LIE to you to do it!! Thank you Dr Berry for coming out and stating all this publicly!

Count me in, Ken! I practice in central Louisiana and constantly inform my diabetic patients that the ADA gives advice that doesn’t work. I promote low carb, carnivore, and the ketogenic diet as well as intermittent and some cases prolonged fasting. I’ve been enjoying pulling my patients off meds and seeing them come back looking better.
