    The K20 already has good injectors to start with, multi hole with a good spray pattern, so it wouldn't make more power with RDX injectors, you just have more headroom for power. This test would be interesting when replacing old tech injectors, like for example B series injectors or 00-05 S2000 injectors, with these.

    Great insight on RDX injector/K24a2 performance Nick. Any plans in the near future for a 50 degree VTC intake cam gear & lets say... a KMOD k20a2 ported oil pump? lol - Im down to see how well RDX injectors will perform with that set up! Currently building the same set up in my 2005 DC5.

  • 4 жыл бұрын

    He wont need a ported oil pump unless he is doing serious NA building.. 9K is MORE than enough even for a frank build. And reliability would be hugely compromised with a k24 bottom end at 9K+ rpm.. 9krpm on a K24 is the equivalent of over 10K rpm on a K20.. At least in terms of piston speed.. He would need a fully built motor. The stock k20 oil pumo is perfectly fine to 9K.. I had a built frank making 290whp that revved to 9100 rpm and that thing lasted for over 3 years being beat on constantly with the stock k20 pump. RDX injectors are overrated.. For around the same price you can get a set of ID725's that have(in my opinion) better spray pattern and are tested more for performance and have more capability to for more power.. RDX injectors are only good for a super small rev and power range over stock injectors.. You may net a few HP with full bolt ons on a K20 with a higher rev limit or a built head, but if you build the k20 at all with cams, valvetrain, and pistons, they are limited. So it makes no sense to spend $350 on RDX injectors for a few HP but still have an injector that cant make 300whp.

    @ I'm new in the Honda scene im on old vw guy. I recently bought a 08 si K20 Z3 6 speed manual has a well penis intake and Honda with flash pro. Trying to get it to at least 250 275 without spending too much. What do you recommend? Really appreciate the info.🙏

  • 3 жыл бұрын

    @@PeterFeltersnatch852 To go 250+ Naturally aspirated is gonna cost money.. You'll need cams, port-match intake with 70+mm Throttle Body, a good 3+ inch Cold Air intake. You will need a good race header and at the very least a 2.5 inch full exhaust. With that, you can probably make about 250-260 tops depending on the cam you go with, but reliability does become an issue with more timing and cams. In my honest opinion, Id look for a used Greddy Turbo kit, or a nice SuperCharger.. MercRacing makes a PHENOMENAL kit, but is expensive. But what makes going boost more practical is 1, you have more versatility to make more power, 2, you can stay bone stock without needing more RPM and more timing, which keeps reliability up.. If you stay below like 11 PSI of boost, you will be perfectly fine and reliable. If you go with full bolt ons without cams, you can probably make about 230whp, but the K20 motors are so slow below 6000rpm when they are Naturally aspirated. I personally went K24 in my RSX Type S and it made a significant difference as it has more torque and more power at lower RPM. If you want to save some money, just go with a custom turbo kit. You can get away with an Ebay turbo for cheap, just have it balances and checked at a machine shop before install. Just make sure you dont cheap out on the technical stuff that is crucial for operation, like injectors, intercooler, wastegate, BOV, map sensor, fuel system.. Humble Performance has a FANTASTIC turbo kit for like $3,000 ready to go with a Precision 5858 Turbo. Its a 500-600whp kit but you can run low boost and make 300-350 quite easily.

    Nick, great video My 2007. Civic R18 is 90% duty stock. Few questions for you. 1. If tuning AFR on AFM calibration to you adjust fuel from AFM FUEL table or AFM FLOW Table? 2. I see your actual AFR and AFR Command are not always the same. Why is that? (Mine does the same thing) 3. Any issues with tuning authentic RDX 410cc? 2 tuners told me to go with DW injectors because these are hard to tune. I plan to turbo my R18 civic this summer and would love to be able to ask you some questions if I hit some speed bumps! Thanks

  • @tuningbynick

    @tuningbynick

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi - For your questions 1 - You would need to adjust the AFM Flow table 2 - The actual AFR reads will fluctuate based on what youre doing with the gas pedal and or if youre transitioning between low load to high load - You can really only expect them to be the same or close under state state load conditions - When tuning we are trying to get those actual readings as close to the target/command under steady state conditions 3 - Real deal RDX injectors work well - But if youre going boost they are on the small side - Ive tuned hundreds of sets of RDX with no issues As for your turbo project - i am always happy to answer questions - but my honest recommendation is always to find a good local tuner to work closely with so you dont get conflicting answers to your questions - We all like to do things differently

    So I have spare parts I have 2 set's of tsx cams with a 50 degree cams and rockers and RBC intake and I was thinking of just dropping a set in my base rsx just for hahas since I have Xtra parts even injectors from a tsx I'm not looking to spend much on my base since I'm currently building a k20/k24 and a k24a2. Anyways my question is running those Xtra parts do you think the tsx injectors would be ok

  • @tuningbynick

    The parts wont work properly if you just put them in - You'd need to get the ECU tuned to work properly with the different parts. Since its just for fun till your other engine is ready, its probably not worth the hassle to do it

    Logically it makes sense that a bigger injector wouldnt make more power on a Stock NA motor when the stock injectors were pretty much providing enough fuel already throughout the powerband. I could see this being a good upgrade for a K20 with some mods and higher rev limit where more fuel is needed up top over the stock injectors, but not on a stock K24 that most only rev to 8K tops.. I know my power starts to drop off by 8K anyway with the stock VTC. But def a good test to show everyone the truth as so many people swear by RDX injectors on stock K24's and Stock K20's. $350 for possibly a few HP just aint worth it to me.

    theoretically even with a good set of 1000cc injectors you wouldnt see any gains without adjusting timing and vtc of the engine to take advantage of the extra fuel , and to me the fact the rdx injectors were running less duty than the stockers - therefore they allow you to make more power? the way i see it is fuel is fuel and the computer targets a fuel ratio regardless of what injectors are shooting it , meaning your test would have the same results if you put in 1000ccs or the rdx injectors in. im not 100% though and im not trying to be a dick just putting my 2 cents in .

    Injectors in themselves do not make power. They are a supporting mod honestly.sometimes you'll pick up a little bit of the game but it's nothing that's worth the justify the money. Diesels on the other hand these are a big injectors they make big power.
