Do my 40's fit without a lift?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's been a long time but we're finally back with another build episode on the Super DUkota!
In this episode, I try to make my 40x13.50R17 Milestar Patagonia M/T's fit under the 2002 Dakota without lifting the suspension and still allowing for full flex of the coilovers. Do they fit? Anything is possible when you're willing to cut some fenders and anything else that's in the way...

The truck keeps getting worked on (it's actually driven almost daily at this point,) it's just the video editing I suck at getting done haha. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sticking with me and the project! I'm trying to get videos out more regularly. The truck is way further along than the videos show haha but I have plenty of footage ready to edit

Great to see another video on this project. Loved the pep talk as it is so true that when you have other priorities in life, these things seem like they can take forever, but just keep taking little bites and it will get done when it gets done (as if they are ever DONE)!

Have a 1996 Dodge Dakota with a 6” suspension and a 3” body lift. You have inspired me to try again.

Sounds like a pretty sweet rig! I kept this thing as low as possible as mostly to challenge myself and because I have little kids and a short wife haha. To be the most practical for off-road use, I'd probably add about 3-4" of suspension lift and maybe a little body lift to get the transfer case up higher. If you like what you've built, that's a success. If you want to change it, make it happen and have fun 🤘Good luck man 🍻

Awesome to see another video, excited to see more! Really has me wanting to do a solid axle swap on a later second GEN Dakota. I don’t know if I’ll do the no lift 40s but I might do a little bit of lift. Thinking about a reverse triangulated 4 link for the rear, rather than leaf spring to help keep the articulation up.

A little lift would definitely make life easier haha. This thing will eventually get a 4 link in the rear, although the leaf springs get a decent amount of flex for what they are. Thanks for watching!

Love the build thread. I’ve been wanting to something similar to a 4 door Dakota and have been looking for one to build. Every SAS one I see is so damn tall.

Thanks! Appreciate it. The low ride height has made it awesome on the road, even without sway bars. Might bump up the ride height an inch or two for ground clearance but haven't made a decision yet. Either way, it's a lot easier to go up than lowering it so might as well build as low as possible. More videos coming soon!
