Let’s talk about the #1 best home test for hypothyroidism. It can be difficult to figure out if you have a hypothyroid problem. But, this hypothyroidism test will help make it easier to determine right at home.
Hashimoto’s is behind 90% of hypothyroid cases. Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disorder where antibodies attack your thyroid.
When you have Hashimoto’s, you need selenium to help convert the thyroid hormone T4 (the inactive version) to T3 (the active version).
Sea kelp is a great source of selenium, iodine, and other nutrients for the thyroid gland. Or, just one Brazil nut a day will give you the selenium you need.
80% of this conversion happens through the liver and the gallbladder. If these organs are damaged, that could be why your thyroid isn’t working. The other 20% occurs in the kidney. Diabetes can cause weakness within the kidney, leading to a thyroid problem.
Gluten can mimic certain things in your thyroid gland. If you develop an allergy to gluten, you could also develop an allergy to your thyroid gland. If you have a thyroid problem, you should avoid gluten.
Another condition that could lead to hypothyroidism is estrogen dominance. In this situation, instead of worrying about the thyroid, it may be better to focus on the estrogen dominance issue.
Thyroid nodules are a classic sign of iodine deficiency. You may want to try my simple test for an iodine deficiency (see how this test is done at 11:45).
Symptoms of hypothyroidism:
• Feeling cold frequently
• Fatigue
• High cholesterol
• Depression
• Puffiness in the face
• Weight gain
• Constipation
• Hair loss
• Dry skin and dry hair
• Brain fog

at 12:26, I noticed an error. If you still see a yellow iodine color after an hour, chances are you have sufficient iodine. If it is gone, chances are you are deficient.

I noticed the same thing. The hypothyroidism video says that if the stain hasnt disappeared after 24hrs you probably DO NOT have a deficiency. If it is gone, has been absorbed, you probably DO have a deficiency.

As far as I'm concerned, he IS my Dr. I get my labs drawn through my PCP to see where my health stands. However, based on those results my treatments come from advice given from these videos and other natural remedy sources. I rarely comment here, but like others have stated your advice has helped me in repairing my health and managing my Hashimoto's. Your advice also help me avoid an appendectomy. As a matter of fact, I was about to wheeled into surgery, but at the last minute said I changed my mind and asked if there was an alternative option. The doctor looked at me and very hesitantly told me about a heavy dose of antibiotics, which I agreed to. After viewing your video on inflammation and the appendix, I've been 2 years appendix pain free and rebuilt my gut from the antibiotic use. Funny thing is, the nurses and Dr even said I'd be back when my appendix acts up again or worse-ruptures. This had me scared, but then I remembered they have an interest in performing the surgery and stuck to my guns. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dr Gundry is pretty much inline with Dr Berg about Keto, intermit fasting, etc…only Dr Gundry talks more about Lectins. Gluten is just 1 kind of lectin. Yes. I have been tested so many times for hypothyroidism. The blood tests come back as “normal” but I honestly think the normal range is too vague. I have a lot of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (and sometimes hyperthyroidism-almost like it bounces back and forth if that’s even possible..)and they even scanned my thyroid and said it was enlarged but “it was nothing to worry about-just check yearly to see what’s happening”.. never gave me anything to work on with diet or anything to know to help heal me. I react to wheat/gluten so I avoid it all the time, and I feel swollen in my neck a lot. I have many family members who have thyroid issues. Totally testing myself now!

That misled me to try researching in the wrong places. Who told me that? A doctor, so he didn’t know correct information either! I have NEVER found a reason why they showed up and they are painful!!! They are around my elbows and ankles. They limit actions tremendously. Finally a cause I can relate to and do something about! I believe menopause tripped up my body and doctors put me on Synthroid in 2007. It helped, but at 66 that was the only med I was taking and wanted off of it. My kinesiologist started treating my pituitary and liver with supplements and I have been Synthroid free since October. It was pretty rough weaning off over 2 months, but I am completely symptom free now. No problems losing weight because I have been eating keto and 18/6 IF the past year. I have no doubt cutting out grains and sugar and fasting helped as much as the supplements. I’m still taking the pituitary supplements. T3/t4 normal and tsh normal. Thank you Dr. Berg!

The MAIN AND FIRST REASON why I had a thyroid and adrenal problem is ... SIBO that I had for around 20 years minimum!! I had no help from doctors, had to do all by myself. I AM SURE A PRO-ACTIVE... FOR ALL THOSE YEARS, I was in quicksand, doing research even with very low cognition. It took a long time to figure it all out... HELL... But I am so much better now. However I will be researching a Dr Berg video because chances are he has one and it will contain more information that makes sense. I am grateful for your enormous knowledge and presentation of the information. Most doctors talk in medical terms that the average person doesn’t understand but since I have a 20+yr medical background I can read through the lines and basically most doctors are saying “I don’t know “ the cause but I can prescribe something for your symptoms.

Furthermore, it seems to me the more medications people are on they really don’t improve, they just manage? We started taking baby steps by watching his videos and taking his quizzes. Wow! We followed his recommendations and my husband finally sleeps better, he has more energy, and he doesn’t feel bloated and tired anymore. He’s lost weight he has reduced pain and inflammation. Nice to hear some common sense about Thyroid. Thanks. Had Epstein-Barr and was diagnosed as auto-immune on many levels. My system totally rejected Synthroid and I won't touch the porcine thyroid (too many ingredients that are not thyroid). Lived like this for 40 years. Kept getting tested and T4 was highT3 very low. Have HCV (over 50 years and it's from a transfusion, not stupidity). Last year I spoke to an endocrinologist who was ready to put me on Metaformin and porcine thyroid. She won't talk to me again -- I already knew what my bloodwork showed (I'm living Keto!) and refused the porcine, bought a cleaner product. She didn't like that at all -- told me alternatives weren't a part of her training. Pay $50 a month out of my own pocket because it's not Pharma, and so not covered. But it works! Whole Gland Desiccated Bovine Thyroid. My craving for seaweed went away in a week. I'd always craved the seaweed, and the craving vanished.(If only my craving for sweet would vanish as easily). Ultrasound showed nodes on/in the gland before we started treatment. It's been nearly a year. Bloodwork shows my thyroid gland is no longer trying to fill the cellular needs (ie: working overtime), the antibodies are still in circulation and so I'll be taking the caps of desiccated bovine thyroid until the antibodies stop. After a year, I am losing less hair. Don't think it's growing back, but I'm 72 and recently started taking DHEA because it seems my ovaries have disappeared... Can't be found by ultrasound. So maybe my hair will grow back, be nice to have eyebrows and eyelashes again. With the combination of the bovine thyroid and the DHEA I find I sleep better and don't hit the wall (need a nap) as often as I did.
