Finally a sensible approach to this topic, as we have a local GSC player that makes an argument for EVERY instance you brought up being an excuse for him to reuse the same demo charges over and over again

Really don't understand why the demo charge wouldn't return. I appreciate CvC as a source and interpreter of rules but the Return Models comment follows the wording of the Cult Icon rule so precisely, it feels like it was written specifically for this case. Never played it like that mind you, but I haven't heard a convincing argument for why the words on the page actually mean the opposite of what they say...

@@doobiousd5020for what it’s worth, Necrons already get a lot of flack just for having regeneration. Imagine how busted it would be if what is arguably our most impactful unit (the t2 primus/demoAco deep strike) got to go ‘oh, you didn’t wipe the unit? The demo charges are back. Yeah narratively it’s a bit weird, and GSC has a fair few rules that need more love, but if acolytes regenerated their s12 demo charges, they’d probably be nerfed into irrelevance. Just gotta grin and bear it, I suppose.

@@kevinbehan2625 definitely. That's why I wouldn't insist or anything but how it's written I would have guessed via Icon yes and via Cult Ambush no. Tbh, I'd kind of prefer it like that because it would make the unit more dependable and the icon a more interesting choice (whereas otherwise you might just rather have the unit wiped).

I have needed this! And it explains so much more than just the basic question

The primus rule is so frustrating considering theres a listed step described as “Resolve Pre-Battle Rules” which happens AFTER determine first turn, which it seems like the primus’s ability would resolve at, despite it literally saying “after each player has deployed”

Another one of these questions that doesn't seem to have an official answer but gets kicked about a lot: When you split a Battle Sister squad (or Dominions, etc) by putting half of it in an Immolator, what happens to their Cherub? The Cherub lets a unit roll a new Miracle Dice when they use one, once per game, and the Cherub acts as a marker which is removed once the ability is used. But if you split the squad, which smaller unit has the Cherub? From what I've been able to find from TO rulings etc, the Cherub is counted as a once-per-game ability for the unit, and both small units are counted as separate units from the start of the battle, so both can use that ability once. This seems broadly in line with how other abilities work, but does mean you seem to suddenly end up with an extra Cherub from nowhere.

yep, extra cherub use anything you want as a marker since tokens do nothing in game except act as a reminder for that I think we just have to follow the unit rules and ignore what comes in the box

We made the decision at 10th ed launch that new unit new charges, but we never even considered the iconward deal...going to bring that up at our next game and see how the group feels, but I am inclined to say it's fair to give them demo charges back, our GSC player has never brought it up, and everyone else has always just assumed it's like a medipack...interesting.

So what you are saying is... that we should bomb Holy Terra? I get ya... No problem our great preacher for Four Armed Emperor.

It's a pity the icon is normally played as you described, if we got a rule from gw saying the guys re joining the squad got their bombs every 5-man acol squad will get to fly their icons high 😅

The rule is that you’re technically adding a new unit to your army. You should get it back

With the nexos I always read it as long as you have a nexos on the table you can give a free stratagem too any other unit

oh, I think that is the opposite to how everyone else does it. I initially did it that way but the consensus was that I was wrong and having the Nexos in the unit makes more sense from a standardised rules perspective

Opposite o think the “or unit” part with the nexos description I feel makes it open to interpretation. Though the most common “that sounds like bullshit” I’ve ever gotten when the abominat comes back once on a 2+ with full wounds

The Battlefield Analysis abillty says "one model or unit from your army WITH THIS ABILITY", so no you can't use it on whatever unit you have on the board because they don't have that ability.

This is like, only one of multiple problems with the terminology of game mechanics and GSC at the moment too, lol. I think that GW is just procrastinating because they are probably fixing or entirely changing the way GSC works in the new, upcoming codex anyway. At least that's what I tell myself.

My TO got mad at me for "angle shooting" after I reused demo charges Afterwords he also ruled that i redeploy before knowing who goes first and got warning penalty for "cheating" so -20 points :)
