No. Father's used to pay because women didn't work and the groom had to pay a bride's price and he had to pay to support the bride for the rest of his life, that is why the father paid. I didn't realize this tradition was still a thing. I thought it ended more or less in the late 70s/early 80s at latest. Speaking as a woman, I would never expect or ask my father or my parents to pay for any future wedding of mine. If they want to contribute, GREAT! but right now, I'm totally expecting for my future husband and myself to be paying for it.

This isn't the first lie she's told though. In one of the most recent episodes where the girls asked "what can't you leave your house without to look good" she said she doesn't care what she looks like cause she's too worried about taking care of her kids and that's it's difficult at times cause shes "never had a nanny". But in the previous season she mentioned something about Aden loving their nanny and even on Instagram she's posted about having an assistant. - I dunno I feel like Tamera is one of those people who says something in the moment to look good, and what's worse is that actually sounds very sincere when she tells her stories lol.

I spent a chunk of my savings for my brothers wedding just a week ago. Here in the Philippines the grooms family usually pay for the wedding but since we don't have parents anymore i help my brother pay for his wedding. Tamara.... you once complained about being called the funny twin, and I feel you, but you are naturally funny, and with you bouncing off these sister's, especially Jeannie, Loni, and Tamar, your hilarious! I've been home sick for a month, and you have kept a smile on my face!!!!

This topic hits home for me, I got engaged last year and currently am in the process of planning a wedding for the end of this year but my parents are on a fixed income, my father said he would contribute but till this day he hasn't been able to help. I don't feel comfortable asking my fiances parents for money since it is traditionally the bride's parents that pay for the wedding, and they haven't offered to help me not one time. This has been a stressful ordeal as at least 90% of the costs are coming out of my pocket alone. My fiance gave me some funds but even so when I think about how this is going, it is not all I perceived it to be, sometimes I cry but I gotta do what needs to be done to make my dream wedding happen. When I have children I will do whatever in my power to help them and their spouse have a great wedding.

I honestly don't think that that tradition holds fast anymore. Given the high costs now associated with weddings, the bride and groom should have primary responsibility for funding it but I also think that it's great for both families to also assist in whatever way that they could. It doesn't necessarily have to be any grand funding- it could also be something small but meaningful.

My parents paid for a large chunk of my wedding (they wanted to), me and my husband paid for what we could like the DJ and photographer, one of my bridesmaids paid for all the flowers and my in laws paid for our honeymoon. My aunt and uncle had a timeshare so we didn't have to pay for hotel stay.

Santricia Jones yes very blessed. We didn't have any debt. Wedding venues are so expensive. It's literally a down payment on a home but I felt like since i'm never getting married again, why not go all out lol. The only thing I kind of regret is a destination wedding because they're cheaper.

I thought on an earlier season of The Real Tamera said SHE paid for her wedding..She never said anything about Adam chipping in then. 🤔🤔

Father was never in my life. Mother was abusive and is no longer in my life. Godmother is ill and not well off financially. And I'm broke. 😂 So even if I was to get married (it's not happening anytime soon anyway) idk how it would be paid for but God always has a way of working things out.

The tradition for the father of the bride paying for the wedding started b/c a wife was a “financial burden” to the grooms family b/c the wife would go live with the groom and his parents since they would marry young. And so they’re “giving her away” and paying for the wedding in exchange. I believe now a days since its more common to get married when you’re an older adult they are paying for their own wedding because they can.

I thought on another show Tamara said I made the money, I could afford it, I wanted to do it and paid for my entire wedding, here she said everyone pitched in hmmm

I will forever be grateful for my husband, He worked his ass off to bless us with a great wedding! We had very little help, and the only bummer was... a 200 people guest list, only about 50 showed!

in the indian culture the bride's parents usually pay for the whole wedding, even indians that get married in america follow the same tradition. I didn't even know americans/christian cultures did that too!

Mostly they do that because the parents are the one's who invite all the random people. So they better pay for it lol. If it was up to me I would only have like 80ish people at me wedding.but my mom and in laws increased the damn guest list to 600 people ffs

Traditional biblical culture yes and there are still some traditional folks who do the same, I would if my daughter wasn't going to work and be a housewife. But if she's not I don't see a point to it. My father is a Christian and my husband and I eloped, I would never even think of having him pay for my wedding but I would have loved to have a father who cared about me that much.
