Do Angels and Demons Exist? | Episode 410 | Closer To Truth

Many theologians take angels and demons seriously. Why? Certainly, most human beings believe in angels and demons. I come from a scientific sceptical background but I'm starting to accept that there is so much we don't know that it's arrogant to dismiss the honest rational testimony of people we otherwise respect who say they have seen angels.

@Jan Koszuta I admire the sentiment, and kind of agree with you, up to a point. The issue I have, is that the testimony seems far from rational. He said himself that, it was a time in his life when he was going through a great amount of personal difficulty, and so was primed to make assumptions that he would never have done, before. I think this weakens his credibility, if anything. And one could argue that, the arrogance is on the side of the people, who assume that they are celestial beings, rather than any other rational explanations, and that these beings choose to comfort *them* rather than alleviate the suffering of others in this world, who are having a much tougher time of it than anyone presented here.

Nothing more arrogant than pretending to know things you do not know. Dismissing delusional people is not arrogance, it is called critical thinking. Changing our minds and beliefs according to new evidence is not weakness, but the strength of critical thinking.

It is indeed colossally arrogant to believe that we are anywhere near the end of the road of knowledge. We have easily much further to wander down it’s route than we have traveled already. The mysteries that are yet to be answered are beyond our imagination & I’m genuinely positive about the near future.

We are almost blind, deaf, incapable to feel and we pretend to know it all, come on! We need more humility.... One skeptic guy was taken into a room once and there he was asked if there was a bloodstain on the wall, he turn around and laughed because he could see nothing resembling any kind of corporal fluid on the wall. Then the UV light was turned on and he was able to see beyond his very limited spectrum of visible light and the blood, urine, saliva and sweat remains suddenly appeared before his very eyes. After that he was asked another question "can you imagine your life can be in danger in this 'empty' room? And he said that there was nothing in the room that could harm him. Obviously he had no idea that the room was receiving ionizong radiation from an ambulatory X ray machine that could cause cancer and DNA mutation leading to death even in the next months. Then he was shown the radiation meter and was aware of his own exposure to harmful electromagnetic radiation. Later on he was asked to describe the sounds he could hear in the room and he replied that there were none. To prove him that there were imperceptible infrasound noises below 20 Hz in the room he had to see a sound level meter to be conscious that in fact he was unable to hear the existing noises in the house. Finally he was asked to turn the radio on and to touch, see, smell, feel if possible the FM radio waves and he was proved once that his perception was so limited as to conclude that only palpable, visible, audible things exist. So it might be correct for any skeptic to say that angels, demons and God don't exist in their visible light espectrum (380-700 nm), and they don't speak to them either (in 20-20,000 Hz) and cannot cause any damage (at least in the known or perceived forms of harmful electromagnetic radiation). Whatever knowledge that is claimed beyond our perception is mere bragging. We should just remain silent about the things we cannnot even perceive.

Truth can be found in multiple books. God Wrote multiple Books. Seek the answer and you will find it. God explained to me many things in a PBE. God can make something out of nothing. Angels, I met Angels before coming here and also while here. Angels can be directed to pluck people from Hell and send them to a new life with much of their memory removed. As for reincarnation, God sees this very much very similar or same as death. I did not understand death entirely before I came to this world, Then God made it clear to me that our goal is not death, it is not reincarnation, it is not going to hell or somewhere with much of our memory removed. We are supposed to keep our memory from this point forward. We are supposed to heal, forgive, ask for forgiveness and learn how to Love God and others. We are supposed to establish a Relationship with our Creator, The Creator. This is the assurance that sin, death and reincarnation will be avoided. Seek The Creator from your heart and your soul. I generally avoid discussions of this type. On the one hand, after decades studying physics, a quest I set out on out of a desire to learn how mind/consciousness works, I am fairly convinced that mere physical phenomena cannot produce the self-awareness that we all feel. People say, oh, it's emergent, but that's really just hand-waving. No one has ever given a plausible physical explanation for mind, and I'm of the opinion that no one ever will. That means I'm quite open to the idea that a physical body isn't necessarily *required* in order for a mind to exist. You could use the word "spiritual" to describe that point of view. However, I am highly, HIGHLY doubtful that any of Earth's large organized religions "have the right story." There are just too many "attitudes" attributed to God that I just can't believe a legitimate all knowing all loving God would have. I think all of the "big religions" are primarily institutions created as systems of control. Anyway, these anecdotal stories don't move my belief a bit either - I'm with Dr. Kuhn in that sense. I'm not closed minded about a lot of these things, but I'm also not out eagerly seeking confirmation bias.

Time is relative. Acceleration is relative. Perception is relative. Take a video game. Increase or slow down the frame rate of the game and observe how the characters operate. Increase the pixels etc. Psychodelics, anesthesia, meditation are altered concious states. If you increase the neural connections through the synaptic gaps or folds of your brain you can asymptotically increase the transfer of information. Personally I think conciousness may be both subjective and collective but there is an awful lot of decoherence.

That old Platonic/Cartesian ‘dualism’ trip will just never die, will it. The Buddha had it right-the ‘mind’ and the ‘body’ is all ONE thing, not two separate and distinct things. Descartes’ utterly shallow, childish ‘Dualism’ has been the bane of human existence since *religion* first minted those horrific, inhuman words, whereas I think Plato was just joking around about it. Some goonball is always out there ready to take that kind of senseless crap far too seriously.

The problem with skeptics is they don't seem to realize true skepticism involves being skeptical of one's own position too. If the skepticism is only applied to what one doesn't already believe in, then the skeptic nature loses any actual meaning and is transformed into a bias favoring what one already believes to be true. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, to learn or discover anything new.

The concept of "belief" itself is a more complex thing than many people would assume. It's entirely possible for someone to think that they believe something because of their assumptions about the concept itself. In my experience "choice" doesn't seem to be relevant when it comes to believing something. I believe that I exist, but I don't have much choice about it. The very fact that people think they can choose what to believe opens the idea that they can then simply select certain ideas and decide whether they believe them or not. When you ask yourself if you believe something, and answer as honestly as you possibly can, you then make a discovery. Not a decision. People openly say that they have "chosen" to believe certain things. To me that's just admitting that they may not have considered the concept thoroughly. Great video! Thanks for your hard work!

Appreciate the honesty in the quest for truth. As for Angels or Messengers, I had two witnesses, hundreds of miles away from each other, watching our live service, the other, a local, also at home watching live, both, independent of the other, called the Church to say there was an angel on the platform behind me... Their description was identical. He was rather tall, white flowing garment, standing behind me, as I lead songs, when I raised my hands upwards the being raised his, then stepped forward toward me, as if he went in me and was no longer seen. Two phone calls, at about the same time, one in Christiansburg, Virginia, the other in Lima, Ohio.

I have an experience from some 40 years ago. I was sitting at a table with a cup of coffe in the cantina of one of our universities one day, when a young girl stopped at my table. I had seen her before. She belonged to a small group of "slighly reduced" people doing simpler work for the university down in the basement. Book and document handling kind of work. I lifted my head slightly from the book I was reading, and looked at her to see if she wanted to ask me something and then she spoke with a male voice shouting at me " I know who you are! You don't fool me!" I became quite perplexed, that you g girl could never have produced that kind of voice, and she did not even move her lips. She looked like she had a kind of attack of something her head vaving from side to side, then she regained her kind of control, smiled shyly and went away. I am to this day convinced she was possesed with a bad or evil spirit. I find no other explanation. Of course I see the possibility of someone trying to pull a fast one on me, but no way. The girl was a variation of "Downs case", and such a planned trick is quite unthinkable. We know of kind and good unselfish actions done by people, and we know the opposie. The exsistence of good and evil is without question in this world. Is there any good reason we should doubt this...? I cannot say that I am able to prove anything, but I don't find any reason to refuse my own observations, and my own opservations makes me conclude that we have good and evil spirits in this world.

Yes, you are correct. There are those spirits. Still, God Creates. We are the created, we have Free Will. We are made in the image of God. The Savior is Real. You can avoid death. But first,, since it seemed everyone was talking about Angels. I will tell you now with 100% assurance: Angels are great beings, they have Free Will and many beautiful characteristics, However , they are not to be thought of as to their powers over humans - this is not the case. They are 1 Creation within, of God's Infinite Ability. I've noticed, for the very few I remember interacting with, is they do a job given to them but make a wise choice to give all credit and important decision unto God. If you seek you will find. Seek and be rewarded. All credit goes to ONE GOD. You may be the best thing on earth right now. Better than even the Angels if you try. You can change the planet. It is actually pretty simple. Truth can be found in multiple books. God Wrote multiple Books. God is operating on a global scale. God explained to me many things in a PBE and NDE. God can make something out of nothing. Angels can be directed to pluck people from Hell and send them to a new life with much of their memory removed. I was given instructions by Angels before I came here and have experienced them operate in this world. I was not from reincarnation but a new soul in God's Creation. I remember my Creation. The created instantly and absolutely knows their Creator, which is The Creator. As for reincarnation, because so many currently gets it wrong..... God sees this very much, very similar or near same as death. I did not understand death entirely before I came to this world, Then God made it crystal clear to me that our goal is not death, it is not reincarnation, it is not going to hell or somewhere with much of our memory removed. 99% of your memory removed is death. We are supposed to keep our memory from this point forward. We are supposed to do these things: heal, forgive, ask for forgiveness and learn how to Love God and others. We are especially supposed to establish a Relationship with our Creator, The Creator. This is the assurance that death and reincarnation will be avoided. Seek The Creator from your heart and your soul. God bless you!

At the age of 32 I prayerfully asked Christ if he was real then he would have to show me and He did the holy spirit came over me and poured through me from head to toe. It was the most wonderful experience I have ever encountered total elation and bliss and it was by just humbly asking. But it hit me so suddenly, and felt so weird, that I slowed down from 55 to 35. A white pickup truck raced around the next bend, in my lane, and forced me off the road into a narrow ditch. If God really is all knowing and all powerful, then why did he allowed for the fallen angels to rebel and then to become demons? He either didn't knew about it or he knew and made that on purpose and he created the devil. And if that's the case, then we're just pawns created by a powerful cosmic deity that can do with us whatever he pleases and we have to obey him or suffer the consequences. So much for free will.

Spiritual truths are by their very nature not provable to others. They must be experienced to be understood. From my journey, it seems apparent that experiencing spiritual truth usually requires two things of a person: 1) that they seek truth with passion, and 2) that they keep an open mind. There may be other paths that lead there as well, but this one appears to be very effective and consistent. Furthermore, failure to do either or both of those two things (seeking truth with passion, keeping an open mind) appears to be very effective at keeping one from experiencing spiritual truths.

They exist and are very common everywhere. These entities are responsible in part for much of the character of a person, a good part of what makes a person who and what person is can be atributed to angels and demons influence. These entities can latch onto a human for good or worse, they avail the human experience of what humanity values as far as experiences go. Any place you travel, walk through, multitudes of influences await, some in eagerness to latch onto you and live with you, such is life. A more correct definition is that angels can be as good as imagined angels or as bad as imagined demons, same with demons, some demons can give you the most humane paths while some angels can push you to horrifying crimes, the idea of good and evil exists only in fairy tales, these entities's nuances are vast affairs and their proclivities are also influenced by the person they latch onto. Great things can happen with an individual of a certain disposition with a certain demon, while the very same demon can make a mass murderer out of another. Many books yet need be written for a more complete understanding of their nature. Cosmological forces is what they are. Oh and demons can be beautiful just as much angels, and angels generally appear wingless and actually more commonly as bright designs, almost like shifting vibrating sigils, if they make visual contact they generally will latch onto the human subject for a long time, whatever they bring will stay with that person for a long time.

Why not save someone from peril?' as totally legitimate, there's another part of me that thinks: If these beings exist and are operating in tandem with our lives, wouldn't it be MORE likely that their actions would seem nonsensical to us, or like we're missing pieces? With how complex even our observable universe is, it stands to reason that the motivations of higher beings would be somewhat removed from us. What we deem as important might not register to them, similarly to how what an ant colony finds important we're totally removed from. Angels could be thought of as cosmic patterns, that which is responsible for matter becoming “things”. “Things” aren’t found in fundamental physics; it’s all a chaotic ocean of quantum chaos. But from the potential patterns shape the matter into forms, scaling from particles to atoms to chemicals to cells to organisms to ecosystems. Matter without pattern is quantum chaos; pattern without matter is abstract and effete. But pattern and matter together make the world we know. It’s no coincidence that “matter and pattern” are linguistically connected to “mother and father”. Angels are the patterns responsible for these things. This is actually more in line with how the Church Fathers understood them than people might expect, especially people like Dionysius and Maximus.

Animals other than humans have a more active “6th sense” than most humans do. However, intuition and empathic abilities can be honed to perceive what we can’t “see” but “feel”. My reasons for belief in other creatures and beings is not just from a Christian standpoint, but because I feel their presence in my soul (brain, heart, and gut = soul). God, I believe, is the one Deity who initially “jumpstarted” the universe and life (from no life). Once the process began, it could not be stopped, and it proceeded according to how it was created. Much in our universe cannot yet be explained and is a process we follow as we learn and discover more about our reality and develop the technology to use the knowledge.

@Molefe Neither hypnagogic nor hypnoporatic sleep paralysis can explain how the bed trampolined back into shape when the demon disappeared. I was launched into the air, flat on my back. I also couldn't move or blink my eyes, whereas in sleep paralysis I always can. I've studied psychology and biology. My family paid for me to do nothing *but* study for three years following my brother's suicide. Biologically and psychologically reductionist arguments are rooted in presuppositions and misunderstandings, which expert biologists and psychologists acknowledge; they find my account troubling, but it can't be replicated, so it can't be studied.

  • @WisdomThumbs

    @WisdomThumbs

    2 жыл бұрын

@Molefe I see that I didn't provide my testimony, so you haven't seen the details that show it couldn't be imaginary. Here's the copy-pasted full testimony: When my baby brother had just turned 4, before he could play pretend (but after he developed the concepts of individuality), he encountered shadow demons. The first attack left him with a facial scar, and he cried because he couldn't understand why "he pushed me." A year later our cousin was with him and both boys saw these things circling them, whispering, in broad daylight. My brother threw his arm over my cousin, backed around the corner of the fence, and ran inside grandma's house. They were screaming, terrified, and they were separated so grandma, my aunt, and my mom could figure out what happened. Both described the same things. I believed at first, but later wrote it off as make-believe or hallucinations. But, almost a decade later, I tried to astral project (while awake). I was instantly paralyzed with my eyes open, unable to move my eyes or budge any part of me even an inch. This was not hypnagogic sleep paralysis, because with sleep paralysis you can shift and budge, and blink or look around. Also, sleep paralysis is ended by physical or audible stimulus... But I heard footsteps run up in the gravel outside. And then a shadow person came through the shut window. It crawled on the bed, and squished the mattress around, then put its hands on my hands and its feet on my feet. Its blank shadow face blocked out most of the ceiling. None of my lucid dreaming techniques worked, because I was awake. I jolt awake if a pet so much as shifts on my mattress, but this thing squashed the mattress around, then crushed me deep into the mattress with its weight. The worst part was that it felt like it was waiting for me to give up or leave my body. I had the overwhelming sense of horror that it was trying to "get in," and it would wait patiently until I suffocated or until I gave up. Finally, I remembered my mom's lessons and called on Jesus to save me. The shadow person vanished, and I was sprung up into the air (flat on my back) as the mattress trampolined back into shape. This 100% rules out sleep paralysis, hypnagogic or otherwise. It was actually my second encounter with a demon, but I'd convinced myself that the first experience was imaginary (even though it happened in broad daylight). I've since learned that faith in Jesus' name, and calling on God for help, always ends encounters with these things. Even regular, basic sleep paralysis ends when I call on Jesus' name. My brother committed suicide not long after this. The following night, three separate households witnessed "Jimmy's ghost" as a shadow figure in a black cowboy hat. Each household came to me separately, and shared different experiences that all aligned. Each household was surprised to learn about the experiences of the others. One guy saw it with his brand new girlfriend, who never knew Jimmy. None of them were aware of Jimmy's or our cousin's encounters with "shadow people," and none were aware of my "astral projection" debacle. I had to explain to them what the bible says about familiar spirits and demons. The one that tried to possess me, and the first one Jimmy saw, had no hats. Some of the swarm that attacked him and our cousin had hats, like cowboy hats and old Victorian hats, as well as at least one top hat. Some also have "tendrils" like shadow tentacles for hair. Some of these might be Satanists who astral project, like John Ramirez, Gideon Mulenga, and others who turned to Christ have claimed they once did. But I think they're mostly just demons. And that's just one type of demonic entity. You can find hospital reports from secular nurses and doctors who saw incontrovertible evidence for demonic possessions. You can also find videos of surgeries that removed "alien implants" which defy modern technology from UFO victims (look up Dr. Leir). People who suffer from reoccurring UFO abductions have been known to end all their encounters by finding Jesus. These things often attempt to present themselves as "benevolent higher-dimensional entities" bringing gifts and salvation for us, just like they did in the bible.

Great variety of guests. From a skeptic I’d like to hear a better argument from psychology, less pigeon holing and trying to dismiss far out life changing experiences as just floaters + paranoia. It would be interesting to hear what Jordan Peterson would say about angels as someone who would probably take a middle position. On the believer side Grant Cameron would have a lot to say from his research of experiencers, most of whom are not religious and have private collections of tens of thousands of orb, mist, and light rod photos. You really can’t get too deep into the phenomena without analyzing the many people who have claimed to experience it.

Why is God needing to do something the only motivation He could have? One should also consider the inclusion of the melding of non caporal beings with the position of multiple dimensions and the inclusion of proception levels. One aspect of all is the interest non terrestrial aliens have in us, if abductions happen. From the stand point of what a human being is one aspect of that is our ability to deal with reality by frequencies, light, sound and both in multiple frequencies usually augmented by detection through mechanical means. Interesting both eyes and ears are directly wired to the brain. All other sensory stimulus must pass through the spinal column , entering into the brain via the brain stem. Humans have the ability to receive and transmit many levels of frequencies. Though not always aware of either we still do. So much so we can modify the world around us, either in perception by others or us but could also physically effect what we recognize as being 'real'. Through meditative practice one can control breathing and heart rate. Through mental techniques the brain can rewire it's self into a less impaired state of being. One can also get the brain adducted to stimuli that provides a dopamine release. Different efforts employed for this reaction can be from positive or negative intentions. When positive the result is a brain interested in taking on challenges. Our hearts have similar brain cells and can function similar to the brain through learning and memory storage but also can through activation by harmonization act like a flash drive booster to a computer allowing greater access to sub or hidden brain functions. You put forward the question of the uniqueness of being human through the idea of salvation. The other word use for that action is Redemption. From the OT the use of redemption between related humans is a family member redeems a fellow family member from slaver by paying the slaver the price required to become the slave's new master. Then once in position of the slave granting them freedom based on being family to them that had been enslaved now grant them equal status in the family - free and also beholding to the family for that redemption. In the first verses of Chapter 1 of Genesis features both sound and light that exhibit waves that may result in the a contraction into matter in this dimension but could be different in other dimensions. Since one aspect of God is being outside of time, or the time dimension, results in one more dimension, and the greater number of dimension the simpler the math. We may be the hardware and software to be a multi-dimensional communications device. A life form that has God given uniqueness that is greater than we know and can only crack the door ajar as to what our real potential is. Consider who was more important to the advancement of humanity, a wise king/emperor or the chief that made their meals? Do we know the favorite chief of Cyrus the Great, Charlemagne or Chin?

I've had a very eventful life, to put it lightly, and it's brought me to realize, "There is Evil and Good", rooted from the Devil and GOD. In such case, demons and ANGELS. Yes, there are many bad things that happen in the world which are bad. It especially, bothers me in cases where children suffer. There are youtube resources which offer excellent understanding on how such things come to happen.
