chess strenght is relative, me as a 1400 blitz player am a really good player, but I will also lose to any gm in 5 moves.

@@pzr2681 I agree there. It's all relative. When I was under 1000, the 1300+ players were godlike. They performed dance moves on the chess board that I couldn't even DREAM about. I suppose we're all "Really Good" if we're comparing ourselves to lower Elo players. 😁

As a 1300 (on a good day) the hardest part is not blundering. Generally I have a good understanding of chess and can build good positions just often throw it away with 1. Or 2 bad moves.

I'm 1200 and when I play 1300s they never blunder. Or if they do its in some way that I can't see but the computer makes me feel dumb when i look. Saying that I keep getting past 1200 then going back to 1100 then back again like a yoyo. Sometimes makes me just wanna stop playing but I'm too addicted to stop playing lol

⁠@@crazyboysince1998I just hit 1300 and I definitely blunder plenty but on some games I don’t. Tactics puzzles and opening knowledge really help. I completely suck at endgames but most people resign before that point anyways.

@@scottc2076 yeah im like 1500 now. i still blunder too, but just not as often and when i do blunder it isnt usually that bad of a blunder. My commemt was 11 months ago obviously now i do see the blunders 1200s 1300s make in their games. I hit 1500 and stopped playing though because i'm too busy right now to play much. Hopefully i can start playing again at some point when im not busy and go for 1700 if thats possible i dunno but i have beat the 2000 bots a lot so maybe i could do it if i studied it

@@crazyboysince1998 I was stuck at 1100 for 2 weeks .then I just learnt one opening for each color and became slight strong at tactics .now I'm destroying 1300s . I'm also 1300 now

My favourite part of each speed run is when he rips through players of my rating, which is this video. Needless to say I dont see the things Hikaru sees and lose about half my games against players around 1300.

Man it's not fair. Whenever I see a strong player play against 1200-1300 players, they play like 800 and pick up pieces on the first few moves. Then I play, I'm in that ELO range, and they don't hang up the pieces that easily.

I agree and my theory is the speed and accuracy of these strong players puts pressure on the 1200s and makes them feel like they need to play faster then normal. And then they blunder. Also what marko said thats also part of it

@Aditya Panicker Near the Digital board there is a settings option, you click it and go to board, then for the animation you should select “Arcade”. It could only be used in Blitz and Rapid

About the "civil war" in South Africa: Luckily it's not an actual civil war. But Hikaru is right that it is about our former president. He has finally been found guilty for one of the many offences he's being trialed for, so he's been sentenced for 15 months(not totally sure about the length of the sentence) in prison for undermining the court. His followers were not happy, so they started looting and vandalizing businesses in a few provinces up north and it turned violent. Cost the country billions of rands. Luckily it is over now and as far as I'm aware, the government is busy finding the instigators and arresting them. (I am South African btw)
