I love her phrasing and musical sense of such a difficult work!!
For me she already won , and 1 movement not boring but subtile, subdued, very emotional 😉
I have enjoyed this performance the most out of this competition. I suspect going by the applause, the audience did as well.

Both Choi girls were fantastic - SongHa and Eli. And Shostakovich is the most popular composer at this competition.
Wow!! The bow is flying over strings 😲👍💕
Fire🔥🔥🔥 Brava !!!
she’s gonna place or win no doubt
And she did play like a queen 👑👑👑👑
Elli! Brava!!! When I started listening to your Shostakovich, I couldn’t stop for a second until the end! My absolute favourite interpretation of that concerto!
Damn, a strong candidate to win, in my opinion!!!
I'm so proud of her!! She played like a queen 🤍🤍🤍
Brava
I firstly listen two 1st and 2nd . This is more alive and active !!
❤😱
After playing the notoriously difficult Schubert's Fantasie and playing this Shostakovich concerto, seems she's the virtuoso to beat in the competition!
My favorites are Anna Im, Elli Choi and Julian Rhee in my opinion they are all first. Anna's Sibelius was so emotional I loved it soo much, also Elli's Shostakovich was soo energetically and I loved Julian's Tchaikovsky too much ❤️

Julian's Tchaikovsky was sooo interesting, was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. Took a lot of risks!!
this is the end of classical music competitions those who know, know who knows those who don´t know, don´t know who knows those who know, know who doesn´t know those who don´t know, don´t know who doesn´t know with heartfelt gratitude to all those wonderful musical souls - like - amongst many others - dmitry smirnov, hana chang & songha choi, who live music from an uncontaminated heart * may all always be connected to the divine and remain untouched by lower motives of ignorant politics outdated cultural biases narrow minded educational institutions certain violin-schools & their personal preferences self-interest greed - hatred & delusion blessings to all - if*

interesting comment and very agree
At this point I wished Maestro George’s Octors was still alive and beating 😏
Damn, I think my iPad just caught fire watching this 😊….Bravo!
i adore your playing ❤️
Musically very intelligent Shostakovich!
You posted the latest videos on your website with no sound. Oh dear, this technology thing has not been going well for this competition

I guess Belgium is not the flagship country as far as IT or live streaming is concerned. They should place the name of the participant and the piece played in the lower left corner of the screen like they do at Tchaikovsky Competition, for example. Yet this is not done.

In their official homepage, they uploaded Minami Yoshida’s performance as Kevin Zhou’s Shostakovich right now(It’s gonna fix it when you read this). They made mistake too often. I have experience to touring Belgium as a musician and I found out Belgium is not a serious worker’s country.

@@ViolinPlayer-ln7bo But they gave many great composers to the world.
지휘자 신났다
All Korean violinists shine in this competition. I'd rank both Choi girls as number one and number two violinists here (SongHa as number one as Eli as number two). Anna Im and Dayoon You also played very well. We still have to listen to Joshua Brown and Dmitro Udovichenko as well as to the Japanese star. It will be very hard for the jury to come up with the final rankings (I am sure there will be different opinions), but one thing is sure: the Korean school of violin playing is superb. Frankly, I was not much impressed by either of Tchaikovsky concerto renditions.

I was introduced to South Korean players as a young student around 1981 when Kyung Wha Chung was playing on a TV show with the LSO and Andre Previn (The Bruch G minor). I was amazed though to be fair it was actually the first time I had watched a world class classical violin soloist perform. South Korea is a wonderful country full of amazing achievements (and wonderful quality cars for the average income earner too for that matter too!).

@@dariusgoh5314 Sorry not to mention Kevin. He had not played in the Finals yet yesterday, but today his Shostakovich was very impressive. The poor guy could hardly breathe in the end as he gave his all.

@@jonathanparle8429 All Asian musicians are workaholics. The Japanese and Chinese are also very good, but Koreans are a notch above them at this particular competition. At the next competition my daughter Stephanie will try to challenge Asian musicians. She recently won Grand Prix of the first international competition in the Arctic, called The Yamal Symphony, competing not only with violinists, but also with cellists and pianists.

@@dariusgoh5314 Kevin has been great tonight, he gave it all and could hardly breathe in the end. Shostakovich is the most popular composer among the finalists by far. For some reason none risked playing Prokofiev or Shostakovich's second violin concerto. And nobody played Beethoven's concerto in D-Major. Kevin won Premio Paganini and he's great here as well, unlike Angela Chan, for example, who won Shanghai Competition, but was not too good at Mozart. The same can be said about Bohdan Luts, the absolute winner of the Long and Thibaud Competition.
We think no longer 1st or 2nd is important
Not good at all the first mouvemet so boring!
