Dmitry Klokov 225 Kg (495lb) Push Press

Спорт

Russian weightlifter Dmitry Klokov push pressing 225 kg.
For the many who argue over the weight, the 225 kg comes from:
One side = 25 (red) plates x 3 plus 20 kg (blue plate) plus 5 kg (white plate) plus 2.5kg collar = total 102.5 Kg each side = 205 kg total plus bar = 225 Kg TOTAL

In your defence, Klokov would have been training for over 20 years. Focusing almost exclusively on overhead work, squatting, and pulling. His dad was an Olympic lifter, so he has not only the godly genetics but also the connections to some of the best coaches in the world, complete with government sports program funding. The stars aligned to create this king of pressing power.

It took me 4-5 years to get to 130kg push press. That is the best result in my gym. And i am bigger guy than him. Sure his technique is flawless. That alone probably gives him 10-15 kilo advantage over me at this weight if we were the same strength. But that leaves the gap of 80-85kg between him and myself. That leaves me in awe and speechless. That gap is impossible to cross even for guys talented way above average. Kinda sad actually. Klokov is super talented and very hard working. BRAVO.

I mean lying on a bench and ''pressing'' because you can move more weight in that position...Nothing bad with that. It is a good lift as an assistance one to the Press (unless you are a powerlifter). For purists like us, the Press, the Clean & Press to be precise, is the true test of OVERALL strength (as it used to be before 1972). Keep on pressing heavy overhead dude.
