The Guy With ‘Too Much Muscle’ Shatters World Records
Спорт
Li Dayin shocked the weightlifting world when he moved up to the -89kg weight category and set new world records in the snatch and total, as well as a 10kg personal record in the clean and jerk. His 180kg snatch and 396kg total now rank him as the number one 89kg weightlifter in the world.

Unless you are a gym goer it's probably very hard to appreciate just how powerful guys like this are. By normal standards I80kg is a respectable deadlift for a guy of his size.

Agreed. What's crazy is that this guy actually has both. Size and strength. If he decides to do body building he would do well. He even says it himself that he needs to be a little too lean for him to maintain the weith cap.

You only want to lift in a gym if your one of the strongest in the room? Lifting is for everyone, people shouldn't feel inadequate or be discouraged from lifting because there's stronger people around, they should be inspired!
i competed (amateur) in conventional deadlifting compettiion back in the United States (2017 or so). In the under 180 lbs category (178 lbs body weight) i hit 515 lbs and got the podium. I could sense electrical signals runnign down my spine, brain fogging up, vision blurry and a nose bleed. This guy is 9 kgs heavier and cracked almost the same weight in clean and jerk and walks away with a celebratory punch.. MY GODDDDD

I really can't agree more with the other comment: you simply cannot grasp how hard he must have trained, how unbelievable what he has achieved, and how moving that moment really is, unless you work out. That last inch. That one last push. Breathtaking. Bravo. Mad respect.

This kind of power isn't done with training alone, he's genetic make up and tight muscle fibers comes into play too.
, He's5 '10 195 lbs and and to see what he's accomplished is mind blowing ! l I was watching him and observing his gaze , he's got a freakishly strong body but man I think he's got got an even stronger mind to do what he's done
This fellow is a superb athlete. Not only is he strong, he has stamina and agility, a potent combination that enables him to get the weight moving upward, lifting even himself in that process, then dashing under the weight before it falls too far. Perhaps the greatest gift he possesses, is his mental strength.... He appears to me to lack intimidation of the heaviest weights, approaches the bar with extreme confidence and executes perfect form with every lift. I hope to see more lifts by Li Dayin, I hope he is blessed with a long and healthy career !!
Always mad respect for this lift . Takes so much focus and not to mention overall strength .
And he bows at the end. What an absolute dominant athlete.
That's crazy man, 89 is truly wild
I have so much respect for olympic lifters. To be so strong & explosive, yet flexible & agile are such a hard thing to achieve
The most impressive part of this to me was that he failed 475 on his first attempt and then hit it on his second. Absolutely insane mental willpower, not to mention physical strength.

Hey guys Tian Tao has also snatched 180 at the 85 wt class. All he needs to do is put them together and he’s got 400 plus
Plenty of things to appreciate here, one is the insane display of strength and explosive power, one of the other things to note is the incredible hip and ankle mobility and the ability to lift the weight of the ground with shoes with raised heels
The velocity out of the bottom with 180kg is just astonishing
Amazing work. Getting into weightlifting was one of the best things in my life. I just started but I appreciate it so much.
I’m thankful for this footage being available and the general commentary, but the cacophony in the seconds before his 180 was insane.
So powerful especially for his size/weight 👍
Amazing! Well done. Congratulations.
That dude has crazy power 🙌
I appreciate the amount of effort that's been put into every Snatch weight. No matter how light or heavy. I'm literally learning right now and getting 20to30kgs up is hard yet I can bench 110kgs and Squat 100kgs deadlift 160kgs so long journey ahead for me.
The mechanics of the snatch have always perplexed me. How shoulders and elbows don't explode when loading weight in that angle is insane
An extraordinary demonstration of the amazing capabilities of the human body. The power to move such prodigious weights above the head like that is almost beyond belief, not least when considering it is produced by living tissue and bone limited by genetics that can be trained to achieve such feats of strength. Truly inspiring!
so smooth.. couldn't imagine the hard work every day

Not taking anything away from li dayin, but I just looked up some historical records, and for the 90kg weight class we have Snatch: 195.5kg C&J: 235kg Both set in the 1980s. Goes to show how much heavily enhanced athletes in the past blow away even the cream of the crop in talent.
Olympic lifting is pure poetry in motion . When I was a kid there was a guy in my small town of New Zealand who went to the 1982 commonwealth games , 1984 Los Angeles olympics , 1986 commonwealths in Edinburgh Scotland , 1988 soul olympics and 1990 commonwealth games New Zealand . He lifted in the 82.5 kg class and his best lifts were a snatch of 152kg and a clean and jerk of 193kg . Phenomenal lifts for 82.5 kg but he said to me years latter the Bulgarians and Russians in the day were dame near snatching his clean and jerk . Just ridiculous strength really .
‘Too much muscle’ what a great problem to have.
Exceptional lifting. But it just brings home how exceptional the great David Rigert was. Lifting in the 90kg class he made 180 + 220, for a 400kg total. Almost 50 years ago…

"Too much muscles" is a pretty dumb thesis in a sport where athletes only walk from the backroom to platform and then lift maximal weights using their... muscles. It can be a problem for front rack positioning and elbow extension (tight biceps) but that's not an issue when you have Chinese massage therapists limbering you up all day.
