    I am just wondering how did these lifts evolved? Like why and how these specific style of lifting... Do they mimic any pragmatic movements in nature?

  • @AoiZassoOFCL

    @AoiZassoOFCL

    people have been seeing who can lift the most weight for millennia, commonly in the form of stonelifting (where they, yknow, lift heavy stones) until the late 19th century when modern weightlifting came into effect. as for nature, the act of taking something heavy and putting it somewhere high would be greatly beneficial for many projects, such as hanging an animal up to drain the blood or bringing material up to make a building (this is just me guessing at practically, the sport itself was probably just a test of strength).

    @@rajeshwarsharma1716 my guess is that we wanted to discover how much weight a person could pull specifically from the ground to an overhead position. Obviously it makes a lot more sense to do this with a barbell than with a heavy stone. Athletes probably organically discovered that they could lift the most using the technique which we know as clean and jerk.

    Just like to point out that all these records are not best lifts ever. There just world records at today bodyweight classifications. Look at 1978-1982 at yuri vardanian.he lifted in 82.5 class an no one today has matched he's pound for pound lifts in this equal category. Not even using Sinclair formula, why Because the Sinclair formula has been altered through the yrs. To resemble greatest lifters ever , as todays lifters
