In terms of ease of use and convenience, there is nothing the RODE does better than the DJI. I've seen comparisons where the RODE performed marginally better than the DJI over long distances, which is not something that matters to me. And in any real scenario, nobody gets to compare sound quality between two versions. I bought the DJI system a year ago and have since purchased a second kit. Nobody has complained about my sound but, in case I've missed something and the RODE produces objectively better sound, I plan to ban sound engineers to keep complaints to a minimum. The only thing I would advise is to always activate the internal safety recording if the subject(s) you are recording is/are moving around. Line of sight is key; the transmitters' reliable range can reduce drastically if there is any physical obstruction, even a stray person or the wearers themselves if they turn their backs to the receiver. I fitted transmitters to two nieces at a Mercedes driving event last year and the signal broke up even though I was walking in a crowd (inevitably carrying phones etc.) less than 30 yards behind them. There were also plenty of walkie-talkies around, which can't have helped. Whether the RODE would have fared any better in these circumstances is up for debate. The presenter in this video manages to give the impression that DJI firmware updates are complicated, which is crazy. You plug each unit into your computer where they appear as a removable drives, download the appropriate file (transmitters and receiver have their own files) and copy it across. There's no app and no hassle; disconnect the device and the update is automatically applied while you go on to the next one. I can't comment on the RODE's update process but I can't imagine it could be any easier, which is more than can be said for access to those internally recorded files. To get to the RODE's files, you have to launch their app, a step DJI shows is unnecessary. If you go the DJI route and plan on using separate lavalier mics, do some research because some lavs don't play well with it. Conversely, I can't say I have heard of the RODE system suffering from compatibility issues with any accessory lavs and RODE do sell their own, which DJI don't do. I don't know if I've made your choice easier but I did try. If you have any questions about the DJI, fire away.

@@alanoakley3242 thanks for the great amount of insight. I have decided to go the DJI route for a variety of reasons. Design, functionality, and simplicity, especially with the whole charging case setup.
