Great review! I’m going to purchase the DJI Mic very soon. I already have the single DJI Mic that came with the Creative Combo pack from the Pocket 2, and I’m simply blown away on how good the audio is. Stewart’s camera shop is definitely gonna break my bank account! 🤣

Howdy Jake. Thank you for all the tips and tricks on the DJI Mic vs. Rode GOII. I've been looking to purchase an updated set of wireless mic systems. The DJI Mic package does a better job and is easy to use. I used your affiliate link to buy the mics from B&H. Again, thank you for the additional information on the lav mic. I bought them too.

Good breakdown. I really like the charging case with the Dji, but I've already invested in the Rode II's and will stick with them. I use the Rode lavs with them and they've been working really well for me. I bet the Rode 3's will be really good as they seem to have made big improvements over the original, especially the ability to record internally.

I am really looking forward to seeing the Rode 3s
I just never buy anything just before all of the gear releases at events like NAB and cp+. I wouldn't be surprised if both RODE & DJI release sequels to these this year. Great reviews. Just watched your shotgun mic reviews too. Thank you! Subscribed!

Thank you so much Jake. This came out just when I needed it. Appreciate your work. Question, does the DJI plug on the GoPro or weird like you showed on your camera? Other question, I didn't notice any white noise with either of them. Is that accurate? I hated my previous wireless Mic which kept adding the weird noise or very sensitive to even my heavy breathing when going up and down places. Finally, I think yes you should try warmer places in Winter and cooler places in Summer. Haha. Thanks again.

I love my DJI Mic! Simple and good quality! I also have the Sennheiser EW100-ENG G3 that I have used for years on events and weddings but the DJI Mic is much easier to set up and use.

Can I lock the DJI mic from accidentally turning off? If we enable recording, can it be blocked so as not to accidentally disable recording?
Thank you for this video. In a lot of comparison videos between the two, on one video the DJI Mic sounds brilliant and bright, clear and no easy clipping, and on the other comparison video it might sound very muddy and base-y, not good for voices. Which of the two would you say has better audio ?
@JakeSloan
Жыл бұрын
I think straight out of the box I prefer the rode audio slightly but that’s only when it’s not on a loud sound source (including talking loudly) as soon as that happens it breaks up really easily. Overall DJI is the better option for most things I do but I also eq the voice slightly when I use it to clean up the low mids as well. Also keep in mind that placement has a lot to do with the sound quality. Directly on chest close to the neck will result in much muddier sound than say lower on the chest 8-12” away from the throat
I'm less than a minute into the video and already have to agree with the 1st point! Been using the Go2 for about 2 years and like it but I talk loudly and it really does distort....not just the internal mic itself but with a lav or earset plugged into it. I just got the Fulaim X5 which is similar to the DJI and it is way less expensive than both the Rode and DJI and it sounds WAY better than the Rode! It seems to get way louder without the distortion. Crazy to see because I'm a Rode fan...
@JakeSloan
Жыл бұрын
thanks and I agree, I love rode stuff but that distortion is the biggest problem with it
Jake, I heard that the DJI mic uses a codec that can be problematic in post. True? So far then I am aiming for the Røde Go II. Thanks sir!
@JakeSloan

Not that I know of every time I have used them it's just a .wav file that comes off the units
How do you work around the noise floor on the DJI mic (internal mic)? I find that I have to use some form of noise reduction to make it better, any tips?
@JakeSloan

I generally don't find it to be too much of an issue unless I plug in an external mic

@@JakeSloan Thanks for the reply. How do you go about gain staging with the transmitter and receiver? Do you have the TX gained more than the RX?
For live streaming using Switcher Studio, what system is there to monitor what the other person is saying, (with no lag) if they are not next to you? For example, commenting on a sports game and the other person walks away a bit more than being in earshot. So we are not on camera, so we can have any type of headphones on and any type of microphone? I note the DJI have an headphone option

@@JakeSloan I tested everything. Had my camera down to 1 out of 30 on my Sony ZV1. Makes more sense at 6 out of 30 cause boosting in post add hiss. My cheap Deity V-mic D4 $99 USD has far less self noise hiss. My best result has been putting the headphone port to like -11 and recording to the zoom 32bit float and boosting. The internal recorded audio has as much hiss at the recorded camera. It is easy to edit out in post, there is no one around here with the same units to test if defective. My Xvive U5 also has far less self noise.
