Needing to own this gimbal in order to use the full functionality is what hamstrings this whole system. I’d buy one tomorrow if the LiDar was fully usable without the gimbal.

This reminds me of the first time I setup my DJI RSC2 with the transmitter. These products are NOT easy to setup and use the first time. DJI really needs to work on this.

Hey Michael! I'm curious. I see you use the Vespid cyber primes. Do you find that version useful vs. the non-cyber? I went with the non-cyber and just curious your thoughts if in hindsight you don't need the features of the cyber versions.

Hey man, mine works perfectly fine. Here's what you need to do, 1. Make sure the lidar is on AF not MF. If this doesn't work try step 2 2. You need to get a USB C cable to DC 12v, and plug it into either an NPF battery plate or a V-Mount plate. Both battery plates works for me. Hope this helps 👍

I have it working fine on and off the RS3. I’m using the dtap out on the Tilta vmount batter adapter for my komodo. It just requires an unregulated dtap to type c connector going straight to the motor and the motor connected to the LiDAR module.

This is waaay too complicated. Products like PDAir are coming which are easy to use. DJI needs to step up its game, fast.

Did you solve the flickering problem? I have the same problem.

I bought the combothinking that I had the lidar and it didn't even come with it even though it advertised that it did on Amazon. Nobody said anywhere that you have to buy this separately for 600 bucks.

@@sawminthuful that’s exactly my point. The current system to get off gimbal use is far from perfect. The V2 Lidar should be just plug and play, and calibrate through app, and/or a list of lens data that is more than 3.

Mine is struggling to find focus if the distance between the subject and the Lidar is above 5 meters. The lens on Lidar is too wide you can obviously see on the gimbal display. Does this happen to you at all?

Trying to get DJI LiDAR, Raveneye, and DJI RS3 Pro working together. Considering the Dzofilm 35mm Vespid Cyber lens that is featured in the video. Anyone know of any US based company that rents this lens?

Please try ZITAY battery FOR BMPCC4k/6k pro 14.4V. I got one.

I saw a video with the dji2 and raveneye which I think might be different than the dji3 which I think does object tracking and the raven eye might not.

What lens did you use for the intro? Looked really cool

Yes there is. Right near the power button and viewfinder area.

Which USB battery is that?

did you try and plug that USB C power cable in a USB C power supply? power supplies with PD (power delivery standard) should communicate the proper voltage/amps needed. I have nearly plugged any usb c device into my mac book power supply to power/charge it :)

Yes more people need to know about their products so they can ramp up production (there's a decent waiting time as of now). I was blown away when I first found out they had made autofocus possible without a gimbal or even a focus motor for the pocket 4k

Yup - you are right Michael - there is something not right. I have tried every D-Tap to USBC cable, every USBC cable and power source I have, laptop transformers, a DJI USBC transformer, the BlindSpot 12V to USBC cable as well as a PC. Nothing will stop the solid red LED on the Focus Motor and the blinking red LED on the LiDAR. The LiDAR will test the end points, but not go to AF or MF. Unplug it all and plug it back into the Ronin - works perfectly. 🤬

@@AlexandreClermont that might be my post in the DJI forum! Honestly it has taken months to figure out. Part of the problem is neither the Focus Motor RS (2022) or the LiDAR recognise any power delivery protocol. So doing the firmware operation as suggested by DJI Natalia seems a way around this. And it bloody works!

@@AlexandreClermont quite a few people had the same problem in the Cine camera group I’m in, and more than a few in the DJI forums. It just wasn’t followed in the RS3 group or the Cine group. I wanted to have a whinge so started a new thread - especially after having tried umpteen different cables and adapters and transformers and ….

You were right, as long as you need something else before you can start ysing a device, the device in question cant be used without that other item.

Hello, Neewer have a V mount battery with USB C that can deliver 5V, 9V and 12V at 2amp. That's maybe will work but for testing I would use a USB C 45W charger from Anker, those can deliver upto 20V at 5amp if that fix the issue then try the V mount battery.... let me know how is go

DJI does not support PD protocol

I’m trying to find instructions on how to wire up the lighter onto the RS3 gimbal and there’s nothing the only one guy I saw that had anything close commented that he burnt up his motor by wiring it wrong so that was encouraging. Can someone please do a video of wiring the lighter up to the gimbal as a combination Lidar and RS3

So even though it says it works with a variety of volts sometimes it only really works with a specific voltage. I think this may be because the variety voltage requires a variety of amperage to accompany it in order to get a specific wattage, but that's speculation. Maybe some power banks don't output enough wattage with a given voltage to power it on. Also, not all USB C power supplies or power banks do an actual 12v out. They may do higher or lower than 12v but if it's looking for 12v then it won't power up without 12v and an specific minimum amperage. You'd have to check the specified/printed output combos of the power supply or power bank to see if it actually does 12v.

I bought a power junkie USB C to 12v power cable but it doesn't have a box on the cable and doesn't do any converting. I have a 30W USB C power bank but the bank doesn't actually do 12v. It does 5v, 9v 15v, and 20v. You would think that the range is acceptable for an Atomos Ninja V which runs on 12v or Sony NPF which fully charged is 8.4v and usually stops working around 6.xv. The problem is my power bank doesn't supply nearly enough Amps at any given voltage for the Ninja to turn on. When fully charged my NPF 970 74Wh battery is outputting 8.4v at nearly 8a. When the battery is nearly dead at 6.5v it outputs even more Amps to compensate for the lower voltage. Does that make sense?

I have it working now, using a Sony NPF 970 battery and a cheap adapterplate. I also bought a 12v to usb-c cable. I think it also works with a v-mount battery and plate, since my v-mount plate also outputs 12v. Although the configuration is a bit of a hassle it works better then I expected as a stand alone focus solution.

Mines works perfectly off gimbal. The issue your having is the cable it only takes a specific one not the one with the big box on it

Just the RS3 Pro sadly. We tried connecting it to the regular RS3 and it didn’t get recognized

So nice, but please we all need to let Blackmagic Design know what we think about them products. And we thinks they are doing well but they can get it better. So i think they can improve them Cinema line cameras with them own technology like Sony, Canon with them cinema line camera that have 3 important things that make it more step closer the cinema line cameras and those thinks are: 1. Axis-3, Axis-5 (IBIS) 2. More RAW codecs that allow 16 bit on it like Sony do in they Sony FX3... 3. A continuous auto focus, because fans need it to leverage the Canon, Sigma lenses compatibility and features. Non continuous auto focus feature on it to those lenses just mean a waste money and time. So i think if they try to improve them cinema line cameras with those three things those cameras will be more flexible Cinema cameras. I think they can do it even if those new features raise the cost... But we just need it!

Agree with all but the first lol I hate IBIS with a fire burning passion lol. Most true cinema cameras don’t have any (ARRI, RED etc) because IBIS messes with composition. Sure it’s nice if you don’t like gimbals and are always fun and gun but yeah I have a strong hate for ibis in cameras. But 16bit depth and auto focus I will happily take

@@initialfocus Yes, IBIS only for fans that just would like to pick up the camera and hang out to get great shots. Personally i prefer manual focus too, but if it has IBIS for casual occasions it will improve the user experience. And they can make a global shutter cmos sensor for the Ursa Mini Pro 12K and ASAP incorporate it on the 6K Pro.

You're not providing it enough voltage. Your USB port off that battery is most likely only outputting 5V. You need something that outputs USB and can get to over 8V1A without any special kind of handshake happening. A power supply like this is going to be hard to find as usually anything without a special handshake happening isn't going to run the risk of outputting more than 8V to prevent you from burning out USB-C devices that can't handle that type of voltage.

According to the tech specs page on the Zhiyun trans mount battery pack that I showed in this video the usb C port can output anywhere from 5v (like you mentioned) all the way to 20v. Caps at 30W. So should be plenty of power. When I used a 5v cable the light just blinked red. With this cable it blinks green which makes me thing it’s technically enough power but I have a feeling the setup specially looks for DJI’s special cable to allow it to work. Idk though. Gotta get my hands on that cable haha.

I have the cable box it came with my lidar unit when I paid for it

@@MagnoliaFro Yes I tried it, but won't power on the lidar. Only when I switch to a USB C cable will it power on, but like in this video, you end up with a blinking green light.

You need that cable to work. Mine came with that cable yesterday.

@@matthewcarmody7232 Also, I found out that the rig does not support PD prototcol off of the gimbal. Making finding a power cable that worked almost impossible. @djiglobal needs to provide the cable in the box for sure.

@@iameddieruiz it must be that the RS motor doesn’t support PD so every solution delivering power with PD reverts to 5V. There are several threads on the DJI Support forum (none of them successful) so I started a new one in the Ronin Accessories subforum. Any chance you could post the solution there for all to see - I don’t want to steal your discovery!

The Lidar Rangefinder Control Cable (the cable with the box) is not required when using Rangefinder without gimbal. The cable without the box is called the Multi-camera Control Cable.

Did you figure out how to connect both the RavenEye and the LiDar? I've tried everything. I think I've discovered that it's impossible to have both Raveneye AND the LiDar operating at the same time through the RS3 Pro. Absolutely unacceptable. I expected MUCH MORE from DJI. False advertising!!

I don’t have both in front of me to test right now but couldn’t you setup the LiDAR with all necessary cables. Then use the Raveneye battery and connect HDMI to the camera so you can see the image. I know you don’t get gimbal control that way but you could see what the camera sees and make sure autofocus works.

Nah, Sony is great and I’d love to have an A74 as a hybrid but to be 12bit BRAW is the best codec behind REDRAW and ARRI. Plus Blackmagic has the best menus hands down so the experience overall I prefer
