Dude... You didn't even connect the focus motor that rotates the focus ring. You literally had the lens on autofocus. LMAO>

I started to suspect something was up when the performance went really bad in low light. Turns out you are right! There's no focus motor connected to the lens. Seems it was the cameras autofocus all along

Yup, I said it in the video too, I didn't use the focus motor, I am only using it for tracking in this video

I did, it is a variable ND filter with the lowest end only 1 stop darker but I prefer that than to exposing my lens front or swapping out a different filter each time

Buen vídeo. Supongo que el problema de enfoque lo eliminas si pasas el autoenfoque al lidar. Usando un motor focus y poniendo el enfoque de la cámara en manual. El lidar te gestiona también el enfoque.

Will the focus motor/LiDAR combo work on Nikon cameras? If so, how well does it work?

It depends on the lens, I am only using it for focus tracking which is moving the gimbal not the camera

Thanks for the info. why not use the LiDAR for focusing as well? I've heard of people knocking Nikon because their AF is supposedly isn't as good as the competition. Do you think the LiDAR focusing would be better than Nikon AF, especially in darker settings?

How does this differ from the older cheaper 3D Ronin Lidar system by DJI? And does this track the face, or the entire body? Does the person have to be dead center?

It has an in-build camera, so that it not only does Lidar, but also provides the camera feed instead of needing to use the HDMI feed from the camera. Plus it's vastly improved over the old one.

Loved this video and thinking of using the Lidar with a 6K Pro. More Kate please. Shes a lot of fun

will it work on the Ronin RS2 too?

Actually you can add an extension to focus cine lens that does tell it where to focus, I just dont' have a cine lens or the extension

He is used lidar focus and not have motor focus :)))

What a fake video.. How did it work when you haven't got the DJI Motor connected to the lens!!!!! You were just using Auto Focus on an Auto Focus lens. The rangefinder works better than any autofocus lens...........

Your AF is very bad. Maybe time to jump to Canon ;). I would use a poorly focusing camera, switch the camera to Manual Focus and leave the focusing to LiDAR + DJI Focus motor

it was super dark, I don't think other cameras would be able to do much better to be honest, also I wasn't trying to showcase the auto focus on the camera but just the lidar active tracking capability

Thanks for doing this Martin. I’m currently using the raveneye for activetrack and it works well although I expect the LiDAR to work better for active track (plus doing focus). For some reason I’m finding that using active track with the raveneye, a Canon R5C seems to hold focus a little better than an Sony FX3 with quicker movements. Although if I crank the shutter to 1/100 the FX3 autofocus works a little better. That’s why I’m curious to see if the LiDAR autofocus works a little better because it’s technically manually focusing the lens.
