Thank you for watching! Both are great mixers that do a lot of the same, but also do different things as well. If I had the extra cash I would own both too!

great job. Ive been checkin out all the 72 reviews since i picked up the mixer. I agree the internal fx are not as strong as the S9 but after turning up the depth i am happy w the internal echo fx. I had the same problem you mentioned with the touch sensitive knobs, I took off the scroll knobs and put on some chroma caps to eliminate the issue.

From the main menu you could adjust the loudness and punch of the on board effects by going into the main menu, select flex efx, choose your effect, hit the wrench on the left of the effect you choose, and adjust the loudness and depth.

Yes I am aware of the settings you can change for the effects, and like I mentioned in the video even with everything turned all the way up the effects are not as pronounced as the effects on the Pioneer DJM mixers. Rane's hardware effects were very similar on the Sixty-Two as well.

Don't be fooled, the echo's are bouncy & all over the place or too soft, not robust. Adjustments are better after the update, but gives that feel of "missed it by that much".

how do you install scratch live on mac os x 10.11? I cant even open the installation file :D

Yes you can turn off switching from wave to library on the 72 screen.

That price makes it out of my range. What alternative mixers are recommended with RANE Twelves besides the 72?

Good video bro. I haven't Dj for 3 years and still have SL1, TTM57 running scratch live :) good to understand all the upgrades required $$ if I want to buy the 72. :( they are selling this like Apple.

Does the Rane 72 has post fader effects for Serato Dj? Also can you use the pitch bends buttons on the mixer while mixing with 12 for me be wonderfull will feel like ns73 better control especially when mixing salsa music or live stuff

Unfortunately the Serato DJ effects are not post fader, but the hardware Flex FX are post fader.

I’ve watched the comparison to the S9 which I currently own and for me the things that would be useful is the usb hub because I own 2 rane 12 decks. The layout and fx along with the lag on the screen left me staying away from this mixer. I think the s9 with the rane 12 decks is a good combo.

I got this mixer with rane 12 and rp8000mk2. Idk how the refresh rate is on the s11 but it's a lil laggy on this mixer.

I did find that the performance of the screen is somewhat dependent on the laptop being used with it. When I upgraded my DJ laptop I did notice some improvement but Its still not perfect.

Can the wave form be stretched a little more on the 72’s screen?

These two things seemed to have been resolved with the recent updates to the mixer. I will be doing a video on this new update soon!

The screen was a plus. The screen moving slow is a negative. It’s just bad dj training compared to looking at the real time computer screen

Why scratch live??

Numark Dashboard seems to be less gadget for “screen library and waveform” features... Rane want to reinvent hot water with this “too small” screen

Personally I think the screen on it fits really well, especially for the mixer still maintaining the standard 2ch 10 inch mixer format.

Screen has LAG. It's called LAG. Basically it is too slow to display what you are doing at the time. It's very bad thing actually considering screen is main selling point of this mixer

They have since addressed the issue with the firmware update, so props to Rane on that!

Everyone keeps saying how laggy the screen is. Ugh that is so disappointing.

the new firmware made it so much better. id call it more a frame rate issue rather than lag.

On top of it freezing up, resetting and efx knob breaking

Have you played on one extensively with the correct firmware? I haven't run into any issues since I the updated firmware. Just like the Pioneer S9 had some issues when it was first released (the crossfader issue), after a firmware update things are a lot better.

Le Mex no way and its only for Rekordbox, get an SR2 it does everything you need to get the job done and if later when you learn all the features on that you can move up to bigger. I wouldnt Recommend the 1000 unless you are gonna rock Rekordbox only. I will say from experience Serato video is better than Rekordbox video just my opinion.

Just curious if you've held/played with one in person yet? I was very skeptical about the build quality as well because of the new ownership but was pleasantly surprised.

Anyone remember when DJ's used their ears instead of their eyes to know where the track was? First world problems ... fkn mellinnials amirite?
