Great video! I've probably watched this 20 or more times while waiting on my Rane 70 to ship (pre-ordered in mid-April). I think your suggestion about holding SHIFT + Instant Doubles tab: to toggle between modes is on point! I've been posting that concept in all the Rane FB groups hoping it will gain more traction and be implemented in a future update!

Reminds of the old 05 Pro and how the headphone controls would get in the way and snag a finger on the way to the fader, especially when beat juggling. Hi man,, I’m wondering if i can add a midi controller as a complimentary device for my Rane Seventy mixer to control more than two decks in Serato DJ? I’m currenly using a rane seventy with a pair of twelve to control deck 1 and 2 and would like to add a midi controller to control the deck 3 and 4. I’m planning to map the midi controller as a deck transport control and also mixer control. As the Rane Seventy is just a two channel mixer, will it able to send all the decks (1-4) sound output into the mixer master output?

Using mine with a pair of sc5000m's and I actually love it. I got it instead of a Prime mixer because I'm more of a 2-channel mixer kind of DJ also the fact that it has Hardware effects that I could use when in Standalone mode. The one frustration that I had was the USB ports, oh yes they are not strong enough to handle the sc5000m's. I've actually had to use the USB hub on the 5000m linking one player to another and then a master line into the computer. I actually tried a powered USB hub and that only made things worse. For some reason the powered USB hub made the sound distorted. So now I can DJ with Serato and in Standalone mode and the rane 70 is working just fine, my only issue now is DJing using a streaming service namely Tidal, my internet connection is not strong enough my router is on the second floor and I DJ in the basement. Once I find a way to extend my Wi-Fi I will be golden as the setup is working fine.

Look at a ethernet over powerline adapter kits, uses the romex AC power lines in your house to send data over that copper and converts to ethernet at either plug end, I use this as my DJ lab is in my bedroom at the opposite end of my apartment. Only caveat is that you need to have it plugged direct into the outlet and not going through a power strip, but so far seems to work fairly well. TP-Link makes a decent affordable one, or at least they used to. I'm sure other brands have them as well. It sure beats stringing a cable and/or drilling and cutting into walls, and also beats wifi unless you pay for really nice mesh system like Google or Linksys offers, which are a lot more pricey.

Great review, waiting for my Seventy to arrive in a couple of weeks. Will maybe try to make a video too :) - For the Phase USB power issue : maybe an Y USB cable using both ports can save you (like the ones we get with some hard drives) - I agree with you about the instant double/sync/silent cue quick switching with color code, maybe worth we submit that improvement request - What do you think about their loop cues implementation on the pads ? From what I understood it's different from the normal Cue points. I think it's confusing. I would expect to save them by tapping on an empty one and shift-delete them like normal cues. Dj Mac cool I hope you enjoy it. I’m still weighing things up. 70,S9 and reloop elite still in the mix. I’m tempted with the reloop because of the faders but hearing the pads are brittle and feel cheap. Please let me know what you think of the 70 when you’ve tested it!

Hi, Question for you, how do you set the aux to be used for DVS in the control panel as you said? I want to use phase there exactly how you said you do but all I hear is a tone when I switch it there the way I’m setup now. Thanks,

I don't know if someone mentioned it but Phase doesn't need a usb port. You can power it by plugging it into a regular outlet

@@ClevelandTerry that would've been nice probably but you don't need a usb port for phase. Not from the mixer and not even from your laptop is my point, as the drawback mentioned was not having enough usb ports or having to use one from the laptop. Not sure how well it works with a hub but that might also be an option. You need the usb initially for set up but after that you don't. I only bring it up because it was toward the beginning. Appreciate the review though. I've been trying to watch all the different mixer reviews out there to decide whether to upgrade my mixer or go the controller route.

Is all this compatible? Thanks in advance 😊👍

Not sure if this answers your question, but it has a tension knob which makes the fader more or less stiff. That tension knob does not affect the cut-in distance.

the usbs should really be there to power what ever you want to put in them .Its certainly possible to do this but i suspect that Rane was being a bit selfish and trying to make you only use them for its controllers ie the 12s,You are right its not a deal breaker but it is kind of taking the piss.

I have owned this mixer for 3 months. The faders are a massive step down in quality compared to the excellent earlier horizontal rail rane faders. When the factory applied lube wears out, the fader carrier starts to wear very quickly and will randomly stick if hit off center. The fader carrier is now a very cheaply made injection moulded nylon part - I suspect this is why there are now problems. Reapplication of the supplied deoxit fader lube does not last long before the fader starts to stick and wear again. I am going to try an innofader but this shouldn't be needed on a $1400 mixer.

I also had the same q, glad to see this got answered. So yeah you would have to use toggle switch then. Main difference between this and 62 as far as sampler is, instead of a FlexFX button its a Settings situation since there's no dedicated button for Sampler FX on mixer itself, which can still work.
