DIYgravel Rasputitsa 2020
Спорт
What are we meant do when there aren't gravel events to do amid a global pandemic? DIYgravel!
Join Ted on this rip through northern Vermont as he rides the Rasputitsa course on April 18, the actual event day. Take notes, fair viewer, because he's riding course recon, whenever the formal Rasputitsa will take place. During that, he's also donning his fresh bright orange and Ted's going KOM hunting!
Learn the background of DIYgravel. It's about celebrating the original event date on the date itself rather than passing it by. Read all about it and join the fun at www.iamtedking.com/diygravel
Here's Ted's setup for Rasputitsa:
Cannondale SuperX frame
Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels
Rene Herse 700x38 Barlow Pass tires
SRAM eTap AXS drivetrain, 48/35 front, 10-33 rear
Velocio Concept bib shorts and Unity jersey
Saris MRT2
ROKA Matador sunglasses
So much UnTapped in his pocket
As always, thanks to Ansel Dickey of VermontSocial.media for the video

I’d like to be more like Ted King when I grow up. At 64 years old, maybe I still have time. Thanks for putting this DIY series together!

I didn't want to be the first to say it but I feel the exact same way! I am only 48 but we should start a support group or something?
Knowing that Ted makes dirt bike noises on his bike makes me feel so much better about doing it myself lol
Ted has single-handedly inspired my interest in gravel racing and inspired me to sell one of my road bikes to help fund the purchase of a gravel bike.

You are wise beyond your years. Hope that transaction goes well!!
Thanks to Ted for sharing his expertise and enthusiasm for cycling.
Austria 2021. Another lockdown. I've gone into FULL DIY mode Ted King style. Creating adventure routes. Chasing PBs on my favorite segments. Getting into race mode even when a am riding alone. Luckily, I have a vivid imagination.
Yo… this flick makes me wanna buy a gravelbike anyday now , priceless . Thanks for sharing
Great idea Ted! Reflecting on what is awesome about these events.
The after party looked nuts!
As a New Englander, this is just amazing. New fav series.
I’m putting off buying a new vehicle so I can purchase a new gravel frameset so I can tackle this. Thanks for the motivation Ted! Keep up the amazing content.🤙🏻

Watching this and an ad for Whoop with Ted comes on. It’s a Tedception
If this doesn't make you want a gravel bike, I don't think anything will. Great stuff Mr. King! 🤴
Absolute cool video Ted. This is how we spend our time on Dutch gravel as well. Keep those lungs healthy! Stay safe.
Appreciate all you do. Your energy, motivation and commitment to your cycling is contagious. But seriously, I think I eeeked out a half a wheel ahead of you. 😜
Ordered some UnTapped because of this video. Appreciate that they are donating a percentage of profits of my purchase to my local bike shop.

@@TedKing1 ... ordered Thursday and delivered to my door Saturday! Wasn't expecting it that quick. Waffles and mapleaid is a no-brainer understood use. But not sure when to work in the syrup and was hoping for a suggestion. Thanks!
- Nice production! - This is keeping us inspired and fit! - Given many of us aren't working, this is the most cost effective event everrr! - There's the silver lining of planning your own mega-adventure!
You're a legend Ted , the King of Gravel 🤜🏽
Great inspiration for folks who don't have year round gravel access like we do here in Texas and for those of us who do! See you in July.
Great advice at 9:40. Great video all around. Thanks, Ted, from a Nebraska gravel rider!
Thank Ted, I'm gettin' out the cross bike now. I'll finish watching l8r
Really enjoyed this. Thanks Ted!
Definitely missing the Mud Season Rasputitsa this spring. Thanks for the video.

Ted, thank you very much for making these videos. They are very interesting, informative, and motivating. I really enjoy watching them. Regarding the COVID-19 thing, people over 60 with pre-existing medical conditions are most at risk. (I'm 62 with T2D & hypertension) Younger people are much less at risk. Lets keep the elderly safe at home and open the country back up for all who are minimally affected. We must stand up for our rights guaranteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Oppose arbitrary restrictions placed on us by autocratic governors and mayors. If they can't cite the science behind their executive orders restricting our freedom, stand up against them! We are on the cusp of permanently losing our American birthright freedoms.
Nice one again.. 👌😎🤙
Super Ted , so good fella keep it up. Stay safe :) x
Whoopie pie and a dry-hopped golden ale...well earned!
Gravel Nationals in Lawrence Kansas was also April 18th. I went out and rode last year’s route DYI. Would love to see you come out and DYI Kanza
I'm in Acadia for the duration of the shutdowns after UMaine went online. I keep running into KOM's and Trophies you got from the shutdown way back in 2013! I definitely agree, gotta love park shutdowns... Bummed about Rasputitsa this year, but I'll take the Reverse Loop anyday... (aka everyday lol)
Great Ted, thanks! DIY!
Would like to do some gravel grinding. Great video thanks for the ride along
Thanks Ted for sharing! Very surreal to see not a soul at Berke.
Ted you're a stud, stay hard!
Amazing!!
YAASSS. Solid fun one to watch. More please! What shoes tho?!?!
I'm addicted to drinking brake fluid, but it's okay, I can stop anytime.
Love the dad jokes! Did you set a record for the longest solo breakaway at the Rasputitsa? 😂 love the DIY Gravel.
Love it
still looks cold looks like you guys had a big winter
Brilliant video man! The perfect balance between inspiring, informative, entertaining, kickass and just absolutely beautiful. I'm just curious as to why you're riding the Super X instead of potentially the Topstone? Anyway, once again, fantastic video and you've got a new subscriber.

My Topstone is stuck in California, which is where the whole King family would be for a massive month of May events. I left it there earlier this year after some other events. My life is bicycle musical chairs. I love the Topstone!

I have a question about the width of the tires that you use... when you bike do you breath in lots of little farts over a long period of time or do you breath in one big fart to keep you going over longer distances?
Your breakaway held!

"Conveniently, I've made the breakaway." Brilliant. When you're through racing, please consider becoming an announcer. Cycling fans could use your wit.

@@patrickgao7527 Hey guys, my Topstone is in California where I am supposed to be right now. I left it there after my last trip. Traveling with bikes is one of the most annoying parts of this job. So it's a bummer that it's there and I'm here. I'm blessed with many bikes, clearly. I love both bikes. Topstone is a super sturdy bike for some more chundery racing. I loved it at Grinduro and it's cool you can run super wide 650c tires. And the Kingpin makes for such a nice ride over the long haul. The SuperX is a stud. It's fast and more of a pure, straight, speed machine. Hope that helps some!

@@TedKing1 Awesome! Thanks for the info! Although, do you feel the suspension on topstone affect your performance?
@TedKing1
4 жыл бұрын
@@patrickgao7527 It's something your only notice subconsciously that you're not fatigued. It's not like an active suspension that you can lean on and see move a noticable amount.
3:54 - see that you can sit on the nose of the saddle, this in spite the shell of the saddle goes upwards at the front end. good to know. so, how is the new saddle? best regards ;-)

Why this event named in russian? Распутица - specific old term for inpaved roads, that impassable because of melted snow.
What frameset are you riding?

Great video Ted! Loved it! I just want to take exception to one thing you said, actually it was a term you used; "new norm". Sorry man, this sht will never be my new norm. New norm implies that yeah, this is what life is going to look like from now on, if that's the case we are all fkd. Rant over. Ride On.
