King of the Ride: Grinduro, California's Gravel Adventure Ride

Спорт

Grinduro, baby! This weekend gravel bike spectacular is the OG of gravel events with designated "race zones" and a whole lot of fun in between. Taking place high up in Quincy, CA, Ted, Laura, and friends head to the high Sierras in 2019 in hopes of taking a consecutive win at Grinduro having taken top honors in 2018. The fun times don't start there, however. Ted and Laura lived in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to Vermont and any visit to CA is a reason to see their old stomping grounds, catch up with friends, and take a rip up the hallowed Mount Tamalpais.

As I sit eating breakfast prepping for a ride I know is going to max me out here in Austria, I find myself watching these videos to get psyched for the part of the day that is really going to be hard.

Great video Ted! You and your team do an amazing job of giving us mortals the true flavor of all of these gravel events. Kudos! My favorite moment of my 2019 season was being on the course of the DK50 when you and all of the guys on the podium blew past us. To say we were the bottom of the mullet is a an understatement. Can’t wait todo it again at LandRun. Cheers to you and your growing family! Thanks for sharing the love of cycling.

I too rode Grinduro in this year. It was SO HARD uphill and the final single track descent was SO GNARLY. Fun ride overall.

Good afternoon Ted, thanks for the channel and the content. Recent subscriber, really enjoying it. DK200 is on my bucket list. Could you let me know which lace up Giro shoes you are using please? I race a lot of XC marathon and multi day events and I'm looking for lightness, with comfort and I'm sick of snapping Boa cables. If you are ever in Spain, you'll be most welcome! Ride On! Tim

Nothing shouts "STEAL ME!!" more than a nice looking bike. It's a sad reality. Even with the best bike lock, there are people cruising around with the tools to quickly cut it and take your bike if you leave it unattended for a few seconds.

owen Vermeulen yes those were 650. I haven’t raced that sized tire since the 2017 Dirty Kanza. But I freaking LOVE those wheels, especially for a race like this that has everything. The 48c tires were awesome. Impressive fast, conveniently deft.
