The Megahopper: 9 of California's Grasshopper Gravel Races Mixed into One Massive Ride by Ted King
Спорт
The Grasshopper Adventure Series are a staple in northern California's cycling scene. Beautiful mixed terrain events snaking all over Sonoma County. The Megahopper is an amalgamation of nine Grasshoppers in one truly epic ride covering 415 miles and more than 43,000 feet of elevation gain.
With the goal of an OKT (only known time) to help introduce this route to the public, Ted set out with videographers Avery Stumm and Adin Beard to see how quickly he could cover the route and showcase it for the masses.
Bike:
Cannondale SuperSix EVO SE

I don't know why, but Ted King's gravel videos are the best on KZread. Not that the other ones suck, but these videos of Ted wear the crown.
There are Legends then there is Ted King.
Best infomercial ever! I am going to drive up to Healdsburg this weekend and spend some money.
wow !! how was that even possible?!.. We absolutely love Healdsburg and environs! Thanks to you we are additionally motivated - we modified and created the "Megastopper" with the goal of visiting every bakery/coffee stop on the route...although we may drive ;-) !!
I don't do gravel, but watching you do these epic adventures inspires/temps me to go off road around MA and NH. The few times I've gone off road around central and western MA was by accident or the group decided to take a gravel detour.

Same. I've taken same pretty narly gravel roads in central MA in the name of a shortcut, unfortunately on a road bike.
In central Austria and excited for the premier!
Seriously such an inspiration to see you cover that distance. The views. The story. Just perfect. Kudos
What an effort 🚴✨✨ And the production quality of this is amazing
Ya nailed it, so after Vermont I want to go there.
Bonked astronomically doing the 20% plus gravel to Mt Vision from Inverness. A BEAUTY AND A HALF.
What an incredibly nice good mood video! Brought a big big smile on my face! So much smiling and fun and fine pitures and music and peace! Thank you! More of that pleeeeeaaase!
That was epic, I thought our 100 mile 9 hour fat bike ride in the snow was hard…oooooof! Sweet ride Ted.
Awesome - it's a thing now, let's ride. Great stuff Ted and team, always inspirational.
Awesome job - I love that Ted makes incredibly difficult rides look easy and inspirational...I always want to get on my bike after watching his videos...
Thanks again for another great video! You are a huge inspiration for my gravel rides in 2022!
great video Ted and the area in NorCal is really special
That’s a crazy amount of elevation! Very impressive!
Yet another awesome vid Ted! Keep ‘em coming 🙌
Amazing Ted! I’ve never experienced bikepacking, but as soon as I watched one of your videos, I knew instantly I wanted to do this. I’m training on Zwift so I can go as soon as possible!
Amazingly beautiful riding in California. Hope one day I can get out that way before my earthly demise. Kudos, Bravo Ted!!
What a spot to ride!
What a great ride! And beautifully filmed.
Love your videos Ted!!
Just wow! Well done Boss. Inspiring.
Chapeau. Amazing ride and looks like a fantastic place to ride.
You really don't have to convince me to want to live & ride in Healdsburg. 👍 Really cool project and video!
Had the pleasure of doing the Kings ridge route last Aug and I'm planning on going to back to ride and explore
This video was super cool 🔥🔥
Convinced me! On my way this summer!!
You're a legend man 🙌🏻😄
Incredible! So impressive! See ya at Rooted.
Is a Strava link available for the ride? What an awesome video tour of most of my favorite roads in my beloved NorCal! Thanks Ted and Laura!
Officially home sick. Damn I miss you NorCal.
Those are great tyres for the job.
Bad. Ass. Watching this makes me want to go plan a crazy bike ride here in AZ!
I am acutally at 355.88 miles on my Schwinn 594. My home to work over 12 miles, but come back home other totals at 24 miles per days for about 2 months from now.
So epic
MEGA!!
Gnarly!!
I need to stop watching these videos before I end up buying a gravel bike
That's *Kingsane* Can't put it any other way..
btw. I’m up to join ya on the next one.
With the RidewithGPS route being exactly 666km it was a devil of a ride! Great video; great ride with friends. When exactly did the ride happen?
100%!
Incredible feat... Well done! Short question about your rig - do the handlebars have any flare...? Thanks & keep up such a great content!

15 pieces.
👌👌👌
Really enjoy following your films, are you a fan of the 650b wheel? I ask because i currently run 700c but thinking about making a purchase, my riding her in the UK is a real mixture of tarmac, fire trails, muddy single track and gravel when i can find it!
Would’ve been great to see route and elevation profile at some point in video. Would’ve been even cooler to see your progress on that route throughout the video (interactive)

All things I wanted to do. Good to know for future videos. Adobe After Effects is easier said than done!
What saddle did you have on your bike, was that a Fizik Argo Tempo?
Can anyone ID that headlamp and strap? 🤔
Oh my god, I want to ride this thing! …slower, or course.
It’s not on Strava???
🚴✨✨
So Cool, but where's the gravel. Must've been tough to do that much road on 48mm tires.

The film crew support van stuck to the paved roads.

The route is only 12% gravel.
Why do you choose the Super six over the gravel specific Topstone?
@Thomas-fy9yc
2 жыл бұрын
That’s not a SuperSix, it’s a Supersix EVO SE. The SE is essentially a slacker Super X.You can’t stick much bigger than 40c tires on a carbon Topstone.
Seriously, how do you feel about your tire choice?
Wearing black in that heat sure doesn’t help
with a 2x you wouldnt be walkin
I will never understand cyclists who insist on wearing black in the summer sun. Every f'ing video ends up with near heat stroke, and they all seem confused as to why.
