What Exactly is the 200 on 100? Ted King Rides Straight Across Vermont on a Wintery New Year's Day
Спорт
An early start to New Year's Day 2021, Ted bundles up and heads south from the Canadian border in search of the Massachusetts' state line on Vermont's famed "200 on 100" ride. What's the 200 on 100? It's the 200 mile ride that spans the entire length of the state, entirely on Vermont's Scenic Route 100. Therefore, the 200 miles on Route 100 earns the nifty moniker, the "200 on 100".
With that early morning alarm, over the next 12+ hours and 200+ miles, this video will ride along with Ted as he relives some of his original 2011 adventures pedaled along with Ryan Kelly and Tim Johnson.
Equipment for the ride:
Cannondale SuperSix EVO
SRAM Red AXS drivetrain
Zipp 303 Firecrest
Rene Herse Stampede Pass 32c tires

I've done that ride a couple of times in the mid-1980s, while in college in Burlington in my twenties. And in the summer, of course! ; ) Some of the best memories of my riding life. We took about 14 hours to complete it and were "hauling". But your riding stats are awesome! Now in my 50's living on the other coast, I often pine for those Vermont roads. Thanks for getting out there during the cold, dark chill of winter, Ted! Thanks for the inspiration!
"adventure is not canceled this year." Solid!
The world needs more video of Hazel and those other two people.
" Because you love riding your bike" Exactly Ted, not everyone can win the Tour de France, or Roubaix, or Dirty Kanza! It doesn't matter, because like you said, we can create our own events, even if the event only exists in our own heads, all we have to do is just keep on pedalling ,and that is the beauty of the bike!!
I'm a 61 yo Mainah dude who just happened upon your channel and so glad I did. Super content, humour galore, inspirational as hell....ty!!
"im gonna keep going because im exhausted..." Usually I have another answer when i feel pain after riding...))) Ted is great!
Hazel demonstrates why screen hogging actors say "never work w/ kids or animals" . King of the Ride's new Star!
Hey Ted. The first ride you did in 2011 got me excited to do something crazy. So, I decided to take a few days off in 2015 and extend the ride all the way to my house on Cape Cod. To date it was the best 3 days on the bike I have ever had! Thanks!
'Adventure is not canceled " a good little mantra going forward..Hazel is some wicked cute! Good stuff...
Done many miles on that road when I lived in Vermont. Miss living there. Thanks for the memories
Great ride. You're right, adventure is NOT cancelled!!! :-)
Awesome, “Adventure is not canceled!” Let’s go! Love your stuff, King Family. Keep it up.
2020 was a year, BUT it did not diminish our dreams. Thanks for the inspiration and the simple heartfelt honesty. The road ends, the adventure begins!
It's funny. That original ride you did was 2011? Wow. That was a long time ago. I occasionally watch that video because it's so inspirational.

TK's laid back humor was relaxing. Really enjoyed how he handled his low points in the ride.
So glad you documented this. What a great watch.
Good job Teddy! Keep pumping out the quality content!
Awesome video Mr. King! I love VERMONT!
Thanks for continuing to deliver great content and inspiration Ted!
Wow. Straight up awesomeness.
At ^50 seconds, the old Mad Mountain Tavern in Waitsfield. Memories.
Just brilliant! Thanks for the inspiration. Well done Ted!
Love watching your videos Ted, really inspiring and keep up the good work.
Great recap, impressive storytelling made all the more epic while doing alongside this challenging ride.
Great video as always Mr King....Always well worth watching......Keep it up.
Wow amazing ride that time of year.
That is the coolest thing ever and I am going to totally look into it great job Ted You did it in a great amount of time.
Adventure Inspired. Thanks for all the fun content.
Great video Ted 👌👍
Love you still have your Christmas tree up! Nice job and thanks for the great videos.
I would love to do this ride, in the middle of summer... You inspire me with every video!
Of course you are awesome. Beautiful family. Lucky guy. I did this ride with my son. In September a few years ago. Best memory ever. Oh and did not do it in one day. Thanks Ted.
great vid
As always super well done to Ted King and his support time!
Ted King, you are the man. You inspire by being you. Well done as always.
Great video, beautiful scenery, beast of a rider and Laura/Hazel made a guest appearance too. Bonus :)
Pretty crazy ride. Myself, and three friends from Atlanta, GA won the lottery for Rooted this year. Hope to see you in August!
Consider me to have been inspired. I watched this upon release and thought I should come back and let you know. 1700 mile self-supported, solo bikepacking trip from Denver to my birthplace, Buffalo NY in July. You and Lachlan Morton were my inspiration for this adventure. Thanks!!
Your right anything organised may be cancelled but everything else is possible it’s down to yourself to make plans 👍🚴
Grew up on the slopes of Jay! Awesome to see the familiar sights! Ride safe 👊🏼
Great conclusion! I suspect that ride would be a little bit more enjoyable in warmer temperatures. But sounds like you made the most out of it. Plus it makes for a great way to kick of 2021! Way to start it off strong!
Bravo Ted! Love your blog too Ted.

Very impressive! I travel about Rte 100 often, but haven't driven the last few miles to the Canadian border. It's not a real bike friendly road, little or no shoulder and in winter can be a pretty rough ride. I drove from Rochester to Waterbury and back just today, the drive through Granville Gulch was spectacular with the wet heavy snow forcing branches to hang lower than usual, it was like driving through a tunnel of snow.
OOOO I really want to do VTXL, but can't trick any friends or family to drive me to the Canadian border from Baltimore and then wait around while I play in the road. This looks great to make a loop out of it. Really hope I can get up for this in the summer.
Hazel is just awesome! She was the hit of the movie.

Nice ride!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🚵🏻♂️🚵🏻♂️🚵🏻♂️ greetings from basque country
Great video! Thanks! Love how you prepared for and braved the elements! This video/ride is a perfect example of why fake video game miles (i.e. Zwift) should not be allowed to be posted to Strava.
"Daddy" - The best part of the ride, I'm sure. Nothing more adorable
Jeesh, I took my mountain bike out on New Years Day, probably the last day I could be on trails before the snow that night, and was out for about two hours at right about freezing, and that was more than enough for me to be out. I can't imagine doing that ride.
I can't believe I never thought to try and place toe warmers on the outside of my shoes before. I used your "cheat" today, @ted king, and it worked perfectly (38 deg F). Thanks for the idea.
Come rip an Epic Cape Cod gravel, single track and roads sometime! Warmest apart of New England right now! Oh and again thanks for another video!
Awesome motivation for us mortals. Question though, did you keep changing lenses for your glasses or are they photosensitive?
Now 6/1/22 in Coventry.. Continuing o on.
Great effort Ted. Very impressive watts 260 for 11h ride 👍👏👌. Can you please tell me the name of the glovesystem you fix on your bars? Thanks
Route 100!!!
Hi Ted. Thanks for a great video. I do have a question, do you ever get scared or nervous riding on the road? Any advice would be helpful.
So much respect it won't even fit on this page.

So this is the real GCN "How To Stay Warm Cycling In Winter" right?
Nice! Pretty hard core to ride over 10.5 hours with an average temp of 23 degrees. What are your secrets to keeping your feet warm? My limit is about 2 hours with temps in the 30's. My feet get too cold going longer than that.

Where can I join the Hazel Fan Club?
Is the handlebar bag aero than saddle bag? Yes I know it's better to access while riding but just asking 😉
@rafaeldegiacomoaraujo8778

Saddle bag is more aero. Handling with a handlebar bag is better if you are doing a lot of climbing, especially if you are ridding off road. Frame bags are great, just don't fill them with water.
