What Exactly is the 200 on 100? Ted King Rides Straight Across Vermont on a Wintery New Year's Day

Спорт

An early start to New Year's Day 2021, Ted bundles up and heads south from the Canadian border in search of the Massachusetts' state line on Vermont's famed "200 on 100" ride. What's the 200 on 100? It's the 200 mile ride that spans the entire length of the state, entirely on Vermont's Scenic Route 100. Therefore, the 200 miles on Route 100 earns the nifty moniker, the "200 on 100".
With that early morning alarm, over the next 12+ hours and 200+ miles, this video will ride along with Ted as he relives some of his original 2011 adventures pedaled along with Ryan Kelly and Tim Johnson.
Equipment for the ride:
Cannondale SuperSix EVO
SRAM Red AXS drivetrain
Zipp 303 Firecrest
Rene Herse Stampede Pass 32c tires
ROKA GP-1x with transition lenses
Velocio Alpha long sleeve
Velocio Signature Soft Shell Jacket
Velocio Thermal Bib Tights
Velocio Winter Merino socks
Velocio Zero+ Booties
UnTapped Mapleaid x 10
UnTapped Waffles x 10
UnTapped maple syrup UnTappeds x 10
Hot Hands chemical hand+toe warmers
Bar Mitts
Moosepacks frame bag

I've done that ride a couple of times in the mid-1980s, while in college in Burlington in my twenties. And in the summer, of course! ; ) Some of the best memories of my riding life. We took about 14 hours to complete it and were "hauling". But your riding stats are awesome! Now in my 50's living on the other coast, I often pine for those Vermont roads. Thanks for getting out there during the cold, dark chill of winter, Ted! Thanks for the inspiration!

" Because you love riding your bike" Exactly Ted, not everyone can win the Tour de France, or Roubaix, or Dirty Kanza! It doesn't matter, because like you said, we can create our own events, even if the event only exists in our own heads, all we have to do is just keep on pedalling ,and that is the beauty of the bike!!

Hey Ted. The first ride you did in 2011 got me excited to do something crazy. So, I decided to take a few days off in 2015 and extend the ride all the way to my house on Cape Cod. To date it was the best 3 days on the bike I have ever had! Thanks!

Very impressive! I travel about Rte 100 often, but haven't driven the last few miles to the Canadian border. It's not a real bike friendly road, little or no shoulder and in winter can be a pretty rough ride. I drove from Rochester to Waterbury and back just today, the drive through Granville Gulch was spectacular with the wet heavy snow forcing branches to hang lower than usual, it was like driving through a tunnel of snow.

OOOO I really want to do VTXL, but can't trick any friends or family to drive me to the Canadian border from Baltimore and then wait around while I play in the road. This looks great to make a loop out of it. Really hope I can get up for this in the summer.
