New Years Nutty Ride: A Vermont Winter Double Century
Спорт
Two years ago I started the tradition of riding something mega. That year was the 200 on 100. Last year was my first and only Everest. This year, a mere lap of the lake. Lake Champlain that is. 200 miles door to door, there's no time like the present to see if I still have a double century in my legs!
The Set Up:
@CannondaleBicycles71 Synapse
@SRAM eTap AXS 2x
Zipp Firecrest 303
@ReneHerseCycles Bon Jon 700x35
@moosepacks handlebar and stem bags
LOADS of @untappedmaple!
@velocioapparel Thermal bibs, thermal long sleeve, Merino Mesh SS base layer, Alpha Glove, Signature Reflective bootie.

I did my first (and only) dbl. Century on my 63 birthday last year. As far as cardio goes, I had a bit left in the tank. My knees, excruciating pain!!! At about 175 miles, my knees were SCREAMING at me!! Unbelievable pain, but thankfully not permanent. Proud that I did it, but once was enough.
Awesome! Cold. Cheering you on from our balmy winter domicile on the island of Mallorca!
Fellow Vermonter here, feeling like I didn' know if I wanted to drop Enduro riding and take up Gravel this season with a little girl now in our lives...and I gotta say Ted, you've changed my mind. Wish I could push training for the Rooted race, but maybe in 2024.
I love the post long ride break down. Toasted. Love it. 276 NP for 10+. good stuff.
The first gentleman of cycling showing us all how to start the new year right! Thanks for the inspiration! Wishing you a very healthy and injury-free 2023!
the biggest concern here - NO snow on the ground on Jan 2. nice rip, Ted
great ride vlog and I am inspired by your efforts . Keep it up I will be watching to see what's next . You are the man .
Love Ted King videos!
Looking forward to what ‘big mile aspirations’ you have in 2023. Really enjoy watching, listening to your stuff and especially appreciate that you try out a lot of new ideas rather than following what everyone else is doing. We also enjoy hearing/seeing how you manage family and have a balanced life. When we are on long road trips, your podcast is the only sports-related one my wife agrees on listening to b/c as she says….”I like that guy”.
That's a lot of maple syrup, Ted! Congrats on the 200 miler
Inspirational Ted + thanks for having us along.
My favorite part of this is you leaving in the noise at the end from Hayden, Hazel, and Laura. Treasures.
I love how Ted states that the Untapped "works for shorter distances from 1-6 hours." Six hours...that's his short distance. Ha Ha. BTW: I loved Untapped. Great stuff!
great way to start the new year! see you out there!
Very Cool. Definitly will give this route a try but in warmer temps.
The lack of snow in VT is having me bummed out.
Beast!!
So good to see this
Awesome ride Ted and some impressive numbers! Best of luck for your 2023 season!
Congrats man, cool vid, man you look so refreshed as your doing the ride. Too bad your buddies couldn’t make it like Ian Bowswol
Inspiring and intimidating at the same time.
Hippy New Year Ted!!! Nice way to start the year. Good luck for this 2023!!! Cheer up and roll...vaamooossss!!!!!
Your create your own challenge video got me through the Covid period. Feeling mega fit and looking forward. Great to see a new video from you!!
I feel like I would need at least 5 more layers to ride in that winter weather!
Gosh that looks so beautiful out there for riding! Even with the cold and gloomy atmosphere I love it!
You still have commitment and obvious talent and desire to continue great cycling endeavours , cant wait to watch them. gud luck.

Late fall last year I did 100 on 100,parked in HANCOCK rode up to Waitsfield and back,then south to Killington and back,took my time ,great day great ride,join me someday
Big numbers, Ted! Great job!
Nice way to start the New Year. I saw you will be doing Unbound XL this year. I'll be there on the start line with you. Just hoping to finish!
Legend...Great channel....
Happy New Year TK ! Geeez I had to force myself to ride after work at 6 pm in the 50 degree weather ..ha ha thanks for video .
Love your ride vlogs man keep it up. Maybe some quebec gravel adventures ? I heard its nuts up there
I have the same fenders but have found that those rubber straps for mounting are a hassle and break when cold. My solution is to use all those Garmin mounting O-rings that you get when you purchase a head unit. Much cleaner looking that all that rubber strap hanging off the fork and seat stay.
Thanks for the inspiration Ted! I’m on day ten of my first COVID infection and can only dream of long rides. Good luck in 2023 with your riding goals! I look forward to more cool vids.
Enjoyed this, thank you!
Awesome video as always! Happy New Year Ted!
wow, all day cold weather riding, thanks for all the details in your set up comments. hmmm...ask one of your friends who has a boat if this is a good idea?!
When will you reveal big rides for the new year? Definitely curious especially if any are in the midwest in particular.
Amazing 🤩
What fenders are those?
Happy New Year! Looks like a fun ride. Definitely going to incorporate more untapped into rides this year after loving the coffee gel.
Great video Ted. A little punchy at the 8 hour mark. To quote, “impressively it’s 8 hours and it feels like 10!”
Nice ride but the cold....and solo. Way to go. Have you done a video on what you wear on this freezing rides? Have you ever done LOTOJA? 200 miles from Utah to WY in September. Salt to Saint in Utah... RAAM solo or a team? And poor Semi. Was it windy? How cold it got? Love your videos.
Happy New Year, Ted. Rad ride as usual.
Very cool ride Ted!! Looking forward in hearing what your plans are for the year!! Good Luck
Superb video. What shades you wearing buddy? 🤜
Rene Herse for every season :)
Awesome ride. My first thought is how do you top it next year? Thanks for the video and you have some very cute kiddos. Take care, Al
Got any Untapped codes for us fellow New Englanders that love your product?
100%!
Well that was a proper ride for the start of the year, congrats, Ted! Short question, if I may - what Rene Herse tyres are on the bike?
Hey Ted , What fenders are you using?
Great vid Ted! Which fenders are you rocking?
How are you not cold in just that kit? I'd be cold in that wearing a jacket and long sleeve base layer with it.
Happy new year! What light and radar system do you use?
What gloves are those, I didn't last more than 90 minutes in Plymouth, MA yesterday :)
Hey what mud guards are those?
Did you buy the boat?
And I thought my Festive 500 was pretty good...
Loose the headphones. Cyclists need to hear cars
Sweet Dude and All Others are selling Zwift on uTube!!
