DIY Vertical Laptop Stand

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A step-by-step on how to make your own laptop stand using only a few materials. I connect my laptop into a display at work and wanted a way to have more desk space, so this is what I made!
Dimensions for holding my 15" MacBook Pro which had a width of 0.61 inches:
Overall: 6" (Length) x 3" (Height) x 2.25" (Width)
Each of the 3 pieces are the same dimensions (in my case):
0.75" x 2.25" x 6"
Your base dimensions may be different depending on how much room your laptops needs.
I spray glued a piece of felt on the inside of the stand which takes up some of the 0.75" room making for a snug fit for for the 0.61" laptop thickness. The base piece width ultimately needs to be 2 x wood width (0.75") + width you need for laptop.
Cheers!

Built this today, super easy to put together, I ended up just using 1*3*6 inch for all 3 piece of woods, had no luck to cut down my 1*3 wood for 0.25inch off, but still worked perfect, I used 2 pieces of felt. And the laptop feel snugged in. Thank you so much for the plan! Can’t wait to stain it tomorrow. 😃

Wouldn’t have put it up here if I didn’t. Just remember to add some felt or other material to protect your laptop from the wood in the end. I don’t show the step but I mention it.

The gap probably occurred because you've used the "wrong" screws, possibly with a thread going from tip to head. If you want to join two pieces it's better to use screws without a thread in the head area. Nevertheless nice project and solution for the screw problem. 👍

Kuchenator Hmm interesting. I think I used pretty standard “wood screws” that have the cone-like top. But maybe there are kinds where the threads aren’t going to that point. I’m really not a hardware guy but the threading that you’re talking about makes sense to me 🙂

MacBook Pros are already pretty heavy. As long as the center of gravity is directly centered, it shouldn’t be much of an issue, but if you’re worried you could always use a wider base.
