DIY Static Grass Applicator

Ғылым және технология

What happens when our viewers ask for a specific video? We make it! Many element14 community members asked for a video on the static grass applicator Clem used in a previous episode. Instead of just explaining it, he builds a better version that deals with some of the shortcomings of commercially available units: bit.ly/3jpljdL

Very cool project. I've only used grass that is already applied to a sheet before for model trains. But this could be much more flexible for coming up with designs. It's been a very long time since I've worked with model trains, so this brings up some nice childhood memories.

I also used that grass sheet before, its actually made with the same procedure as I used i nthei video. But on rougher terrain directly applying the static grass ich much more pleasant and gives better results, a mix of techniques is usually the key.

Which circuit did you ended up using for the transformer?

Very cool Project. Did you only ditch your selfmade transformer because it did not fit in the enclosure? It was a bit disappointing :(

Mainly for fit, and I ran out of time for the DC ac conversion, so I opted to get finished in time instead of hardcore diy. Most people will use such a transformer anyway for their build.

1:45 Describes the manual method of gluing blades of grass individually. Rest of video, shows much faster static electricity method. Conclusion: There's a market for static electricity hair transplants!

If there is no code, is it even a real Clem project?

I actually enjoy not having to code from time to time...as you know, coding is not my strenght.
