Thanks for the video. A quick addition: Luke APS did a good trick where after applying the grass, he pinched the wet grass & glue all over to make rough patches, and then applied more to fill in the empty spots. Made for a rough natural undulation.

I am a GiJoe (Action Man) head reflocker in the US... I buy from the same vendor, Campbell-Coutts. They have the best selection of size and colors. I deal with mostly single color 100 gram bags but occasionally will get the 1 kilo bags. The shipping is outrageous to the US but you simply cannot get these materials here.

It's amazing how much you can tell about where a modeler lives just by how he does his grasses. I live in a near desert (high plains of Colorado), so I nearly always start with burnt, yellow, winter, or dry grasses, because that's what I see when I go for a walk. You go straight for highly saturated colors, because "lawn irrigation" is a largely foreign concept. ("You want to put _more_ water on your grass?!") Years ago, an acquaintance bought some terrain pieces intended for an Old West game from a terrain maker in the UK. The foliage on the pieces was almost neon green. Which looks like nothing in the US or Canadian West outside of the Oregon/Washington/BC coasts, but I'm sure it looked just right to the maker.

It reminds me when relatives came from California to finally see the land of their ancestors (Ireland). They couldn't believe how green everywhere was. "There's a reason for that..." I explained. Our summers have since got wetter! During a stint in Ethiopia, while explaining we didn't have a rainy season (or did, it was all year), they asked what the difference between summer and winter was. "In summer, the rain is warmer."

I haven't got a static grass app, but I do have a camera air blower. They usually come with brush attachment which is made of nylon. The air passing over them charges them so they attract dust particles. Therefore puffing air over you little static grass bases , makes the grass stand up...well the grass which isn't blown all over the room. But it actually works.

Thanks for sharing the supplier. With only solid colors works great because I like to mix them myself. I’m currently working on a flock applicator design. Some features like battery op or corded to the outlet/mains, pretty standard for higher end models, but it’s bringing some really cool features that are yet non-existent in the market. Had some medical issues that stalled it, but I’m getting back to working on it. Just don’t know if I’m going to keep it “in-house” or sell manufacturing rights or outright.

What a fantastic video, thank you for walking us through that! Unfortunately, it seems these Flockboxes are absolutely nowhere to be found on the internet, and the seller has stopped making them. Can anyone point me to a quality powered flocking box such as this with the two leads that allow you to work on the box itself, or on the terrain? Only ones I can find on the internet currently: 1. The WWS one powered by a 9V battery and with only one lead 2. The GreenStuffWorld Flock Applicator Box, again limited in features and battery powered 3. The Evemodel Flocking Box which does seem to have all the features of the Flockbox shown in this video, but with unknown provenance and no reviews. Many thanks in advance if you can help me find an OG FlockBox or solid substitute! This video was so inspiring and I feel excited to dive into my next project.
