Static grass for beginners...a newbies guide!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
As a model railroader for more than 40 years , there have been a few advances that have changed the hobby in my time...the biggest being DCC of course . But the way we do scenery has leapt forwards since the invention of "Static Grass" . SO ,...being a scenery novice , it was time I ventured down the static grass road, and see what all the fuss is about , and I can say , if I can make it look good , then anyone can!

Well it’s definitely working, complimenting the great rock colouring perfectly. Great review and knowledge share on the applicator.
Bet that curled Lord Stans Moustaches!!!! A couple of tricks I have learnt, you may find you don’t need to have the ground wire in the glue just next to it touching the ground. Using a pencil or stick ruffle the grass up a bit helps make it look more natural. Also I have used very small amounts of flower coloured flock eg small pinch between your fingers and just rub your finger and thumb together letting it trickle down onto the grass. You can try brushing the tops of the grass in key small locations with glue (like dry brushing) before you sprinkle it with the coloured flock or spray over the area after you have applied the flock both ways work. Made my own
woww looks really good, and the ground colors too! Im a newby at diorama and terrain and of course im not even close to your results.. I made a Static grass applicator with a Negative ions generator, also made my own grass but for some reason my grass does not fill the area..could it be the applicator¿¿ i find it weird that when a put it somewhat close to the fibers that fell out of the PVA , it is so strong that picks them up back to the metallic mesh.. and i mean not even too close , im talking about like 6-7 cms
@FishplateFilms
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I've moved on a bit since this, and have improved my results , but it takes practice and trial and error. I did think of making my own applicator, but it's easier to get a commercial one thats been tested? Keep working on it and you will get good results! Cheers Gregg.
