Hey! Great video! Just finished the build and am very happy with the result. Did I accidentally shock myself from a residential charge? Absolutely. Did it make me check my underwear afterwards? Absolutely. LOL TO ALL MAKERS: Once I let go of the ON BUTTON I had to make sure to touch the sifter to the ground clip to remove the residual charge. ZZZZT! ZZZZT! Great applicator!

A small nail can be substituted for the push pin. As long as the nail is in contact with the wet glue you will be fine.

You think the D battery model create more static and make the grass stand up easier/better than the aa model?

I don't think it would have any affect.

You sir seems to have knowledge to the question, I'm seeking answer for. So my problem is, I bought a gras master 2 applicator from some shop on ebay, it was used, but looked pristine. It works, but obviously missing the oomph. The grass kinda stand, but 6 mil and up... It's just not what I can see on videos, half of the straws are laying on top of those, which kinda stands upward, so something is definitely wrong. I tried to shorter the chamber capacity, creating a disc covered in tin foil, with screw in the middle, to extend the wire at the bottom of hopper, but that didn't done much. Effect is super visible, when I'm trying to do tuffs, or layer the grass, the density is poor, it lays horizontally mostly... I'm kinda desperate at this point. I bought new 9V battery, supposedly industrial grade, and problem is still there. So, do You have any idea, what I can do, to bring it back to life? I have spent quite a penny for it, and would be a shame to ditch it like that. I have 11,1V batteries at hand, around 1200mah, and wonder, if I replace this tiny 9V for one of these, would it solve the problem, or just burn the thing down, damaging it permanently? Thanks from ahead, hope You can help me ;)

I guessing you need to put your ground closer to where you're working.

@@SoloContracting I did, nothing changed. I did rewire it to 11,1V battery, there is a tiny improvement, but not enough. Ordered a new negative ion generator from china some time ago, now I got to learn, how to weld it correctly. Will see, it suppose to have 50kv :P

Does it matter wich wire goes on the strainer, and wich to the alligator clip?

No. The wires can go to either.

Are you placing the grounding pin in a wet area? Try to stay as close to the grounding pin as possible.

@@SoloContracting Thank you for answering. I have another applicator that I built using the ion generator. when i hold the pin close to the sifter I can see the spark traveling in between. On this one I don't get that. Maybe I swatted too many stink bugs with it.... lol. Ill try again.

Fantastic video, but maybe could benefit from some of the bits like the sanding being edited down in length?

@@SoloContracting - maybe run things like the sanding at 2x speed, or fade out after a few seconds and back in just as you finish? I felt I needed to skip a few bits like the sanding.
