IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please ALWAYS use resin with proper precautions including wearing proper PPEs (glove, mask, respirator etc) AND working in a well ventilated space. I recommend getting a hold of the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) info that every resin company has available to the public (by law). This has all the info about the resin you are using including the precautions you need to take and first aid care. Watch my resin safety video for more info: • RESIN SAFETY | Importa...
Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin to cast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

So cute!! After you make off set, go to contour (right lower corner) and remove those pieces that it didn't fill in. A lot faster especially when there is multiple pieces.

Hi Amy, thank you so very much for making all these superbly informative and beautiful tutorials. I have watched almost all of them and I even get the same Rustoleum spray you use. One thing i’m not quite sure is how to tell if the spray coat is dry enough to apply resin. Mine usually dry to the touch in 30 mins, I wondered would you add reain at this point? Thank you. (Sorry if you’ve already answered similar questions elsewhere-I’ve tried and didn’t find it mentioned anywhere so I thought I’d ask you here. Thanks!)

thank you so much for this!! I've been wanting to make acrylic blanks with my shrink plastic, but never thought to use calipers to measure accurately!! I cant wait to try this again! Question, for using regular resin, would you still recommend using a sealing spray/mod podge for the resin to adhere to? I use mostly printable shrink plastic and it still has a sandy like texture after shrinking, dont know if that texture helps the resin stay on or if i should continue with the modpodge

Creating an offset cut round it makes it easier to weed than trying to weed from a larger piece of vinyl

I think you’re confused. I used shrink plastic for this entire project. And only used the acetate setting on the design space because there’s so no specific setting for shrink plastic. I chose acetate because it’s the closest material to it.
