Talking to a friend about Vevor. Went to read up on Vevor and found this video. I assume it’s a Chinese company “based” in California. Good idea. Answers my suggestion about the fixture holes. I have the same clamps with a 5/8 bolt welded to the bottom. Ditto on bolts from TS.

Great idea, I learned my self about patenting idea for tools. It so simple for another person to change one measurement, angle, even color and they can steal your ideas. HF does it all the time. It’s better to be first to the market and capitalize as much as possible before the next guy

They put aluminium on tge sides and the ends so that it concentrates the magnetic flux in the "middle" (the open but underneath. Remember, the magnet is always on. Putting a steel endplate on there will make it magnetic too...

I thought the magnetic field may have been interfering with your welding... I didn't think about aluminum. We had some strong magnets at work for our food grade metal detector - they could only be moved in the plant when in plywood boxes. Split a guy's fingertip when one clamped onto a handrail he was passing.

Idea: you dont need to patent, really not worth the time. However, you could fabricate the end plate for sale, people would be more apt to purchase the magnet and then your product to go with it. Meaning that many people dont feel confident to fabricate the end plate accurately. Or sell/ trade the idea to Vevor for product?

@@TKCL Yeah, I got that part but if you weld the same bit of square tube to the steel side of the magnet and then to the clamp, wouldn't you have the same net effect but without fabricating the end cap? Plus, I'd think the original end cap would be a better square "stop", no? Maybe it's 6 or a half dozen but we're all just spitballin' in the shop, right?
