I can't say enough good things about these plans. I always wanted a CNC plasma cutter but wanted to stay in a small budget. This was truly the best option out there. On top of that JD's Garage continues to add upgrades to the CNC table such as the pipe cutting feature and recently added the floating head for Z axis and never charge additional for the updated plans. They even started work on a THC and I am 100% in once complete. I used this plasma CNC table almost 5 or 6 days a week and just love it. I had a blast building this and JD's Garage was always there if I had questions. Thanks Guys!

@@schlomoshekelstein908actually if you just click on the link, you can buy the plans which I thought were pretty cheap really. Love it! I just ordered the plans. I'm no newbie when it comes to CNC machinery, having built CNC routers and milling machines and I knew it was time to get a CNC plasma cutter in the Wet Coast Fab shop. Rather than spending the time designing and figuring it all out, I pulled the trigger on these plans! I can't wait to start building it and putting it to good use, perhaps using the machine to cut out non-3D printer component replacements for the gantry, etc.

I decided to tackle this build - with no 3d printing experience and no CNC experience. Bought a "Longer" brand 3d printer and made all the parts. Fabricated everything else in a weekend and had it all assembled and moving smoothly. Bought all the stuff listed in the list and then tackled the electronics. If I would have read ALL the instructions - I would have not had ANY problems - but a quick email asking what I did wrong was responded to quickly and within minutes I was back on course!!! My first cuts were not so great - and it turned out I had a very thin and wavy metal that caused lack of continuity on the plasma - and would "flame out". Put a nicer (not new) piece in and it ran flawlessly. I cannot say enough good things about the effort that these gentlemen put into these plans and project. I do not yet have the z-axis but will be ordering all the parts tonight - and they have a THC amperage management in the works too! My first few test pieces were 2" square and 2" circle to see how true this was running. Dimentionally I was 2.002 x 1.987 square and 1.994 round (there was about .005 variance around the circle). I will try and recalibrate as I think I might have been off in the Y axis... I am VERY pleased! I hope they sell a LOT of plans to make their efforts worth while! Thank you!

I’m very interested in this, and think I’d like to do it, but was wondering if you’ve thought about how to make this scalable? In other words, can I build the small size you have plans for, then scale it up to a 4’ x 4’ or 4’ x 8’ or 5’ x 10’? Can the axis be made “modular” so you don’t have to rebuild an entirely new table for increased size? Looking forward to your response. :)

Couple suggestions - plans should have version/revision #'s so as you make improvements/adjustments one can clearly see what version of plans you're on. The 3d printed washers I received for the bearing blocks were too thick, impossible to get the bearings + washers into the bearing blocks as shown in the plans. I flattened one of the washers each side and that helped make the assembly possible. The tube frame bolts are about 1/2" too short. I got mine together, but it's not great with only a couple threads in the nut. Plans should spec frame bolts (2.5" and 4.5" 3/8 bolts) to be 1/2" longer.

Belt technology has come a long way in recent years. When used correctly they will last and extremely long time and can hold better accuracy than lead screws. We have had the table for just about a year and have used it in a wide variety of conditions and have not been able to measure and loss in accuracy. The life of the torch tip will make far more of a difference on accuracy than the belt wear ever will.

Your point about belts is sound, but this isnt a cnc/router machine. Belts would be a poor choice for a cnc/router machine because of the force required to push the router bit through material. In this case the belts are just used to position the "print head". Also belts are fiberglass reinforced, so they dont stretch.

@@tazanteflight8670 Alright I see, thanks a lot for that, however I have a theory, because of my obsession with CoreXY, is it doable to build a 1.6m x1.6m CNC plasma machine? Because for that I will need about 12 meters of belt. A friend of mine suggested instead of belt to use Chain, cause it's rigid and reliable and he says they last forever (sort of), now the reason behind my theory is; a CoreXY CNC plasma is 1 motor less which means reduced cost but still efficient, precisionwise it's solid, however the elephant in the workshop, is there a 12 meter+ belt in the market and when it's long does it perform the same as when it's somewhat short, in this video it's 28" X 32" which is 71.12cm x 81.28cm I want to go a bit higher than that. Sorry for long post, thank you very much

@@red_juan IMO corexy is a mistake. Using "binding force" to position a printhead, is bad science. Positioning should be as precise as possible, so dedicated, and simple X, and Y axis drive will always be more accurate. Also a long belt, or long chain will have a lot of slop. Using tensioners to reduce slop, will only stress the stepper motors. It is interesting, and neat that corexy "works", but it is not logical.

The main thing holding me back is the Ardino, do I have to program it or just wire it up to controllers? I want to buy the plans and parts just gathering information before I press buy.

They are good but still need a few instructions on some of the parts, but it can be figure out if you look all the way thru

I'd love to work with you to get my custom piece prototyped. If I download the software and get the files to you, would you be able to quote me a price? There's no rush. I'm still waiting for some final mock up measurements before I cut the test piece out of wood to make sure everything lines up with the different test mules. I was going to use primitive means to get a prototype out of steel but If I could just pay you to zip zap it, that would save me a huge headache!!! Once I know it will do the job, I have to find a manufacturer who can make 100 of them for a test run on amazon. If they sell... I'm taking out a loan and ordering big so I can get the price down as low as possible. This could be life changing if it works. Seeing your video gave me hope.
