    I just hope you have picked up a 3d printer!! Those things are amazing, and I'm sure you would find so many uses for one! I'm sure all these joints can be repurposed into any form you want, but if you do update your medusa it would be awesome to see!

    Thanks for the kind words! I put a TON of work into those joints (I have a box of failed tests as a reminder), It's tough to make them small and functional and some of the movements human joints offer is crazy. I figured the 3 versions I designed will anyone to build the frame for almost any creature they can imagine.

    This is great! I think our Lowe's that are shutting down have been pretty well been picked clean, but I may go back and see if I can at least pick up the nuts and bolts for cheap. Happy 2024!

    Our Lowes has been converted to a Rona, but it means we have two rona's in town now and I'm worried the older one and my favourite might be on the chopping block. I find that garage sales around my parts are the best place to find cheap nuts and bolts collections, but I'm also discovering that a box of 50 bolts is $14 and sometimes not worth the trouble of sorting through my bolt bin for matches!     Looks great!! I really like the inset hex bolt and wing nut. Great design. For the PVC, have played with staining it? Would match the joints well. I need to get some prints going.

    Hey Jekyll! The joints really are meant to be a base that goes under clothes or a skin. I just wanted the ability to make a possible manakin without the bulk associated with it. Something strong to take some weight load, but light enough to be able to be manipulated by animatronic motors. So much to consider, but I love these joints, the final version worked very well. The 10 or so failed designs that sit in my "Refine Idea" box are a testament to all the work I put into getting these things just right.     This is great! Is PTEG difficult to print? I’ve used PLA outside and it just melts in the Florida heat and sun.

    Yeah, PLA is horrible outdoors, PETG is more along the lines of the material to make pop bottles and I have not have many warping issues in hot sun (Within reason of course) and as these joints will be under a build/clothing most of the time you can avoid the direct sun which is usually what impacts it the most. Printing wise? It's almost as easy as PLA, you print it quite a bit hotter, and print it slower. It has a habit of stringing a bit on travel, but overall, no real difference.

    Great! Thank you for the detailed reply. Last questions (hopefully)... What kind of infill do you recommend with these fittings? Most of my PVC is 3/4" any thoughts on scaling these down for 3/4"? I know that I'll either need to get a smaller bolt or bore the hold out in a modeling software. I've considered moving to 1" PVC but costs (I'm cheap) and weight made me stick with 3/4".

    I went with the 1" for the rigidity of the pipe itself, I was worried about the 3/4" ending up with a bit of droop the moment there is any weight load on the extension. If there is demand I could totally go and design a 3/4" set as mentally all the kinks have been worked out in the design!
