DIY BBQ Camp Grill - Forme Industrious
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Every chance I get I head off to the bush in the Campervan for a bit of Big Sky and fresh air. Well nothing beats sitting next to the fire, except when the fire is one that you can cook a meal on. So the idea for making this Camp Grill was borne. (No Plans) This grill can use Wood, or Heat Beads.
This project can be made pretty quickly, Maybe in a day. You do not need to have the metal folder or rod bender. There are numerous ways you can make the bends in the metal.
The Plate Steel is 3mm Mild. The Grill, handles and supports are all made from 10mm Round Bar (Mild Steel).
I used High Temp Matt Black paint on the outside of the steel only. Additionally I gave the grilll a good burn before using for food.
If you are interested in the Sheet Metal Bender. I have made two videos on the build of this tool and also it's modifications.
The Rod Bender is pretty simple, no video sorry, though if enough people ask for a video on building one of these I will do one.

Hi Scott! Great grill turned out! By the way, I really liked the design of your welding table and I made one for myself. It has become much more convenient to work! :)
Cool grill! I made one about half that size years ago. Welded a tab to the side and clamped in the vise on the back of the service truck. Prefect for one large steak or two burgers at a time. Grill on the go!

The corn looked awesome, the steaks not so much 🤣 that's a really neat little braai...
One suggestion for cutting sheet like that get a hand held circular saw, use a tungsten blade or friction disc, you can the use it as a track saw, works surprisingly well, I have very successfully cut up to 6mm sheet this way with appropriate safety gear

Hello Scott, This BBQ will last 10 times longer than a store bought "dirt". Plus I find it aesthetically pleasing. There are just 2 questions I would like to ask you: - Why are the vents so big? At the risk of dropping embers. - Why are the bars of the grate so big in diameter? Didn't you have a smaller diameter? That would have allowed a better cooking (I think). In spite of that it is functional and pleasant, and the high-temperature paint in the area to hold well. Congratulations! && Push blue !
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious

The vents were more guess work than science, and yes I have to watch that coals don't fall through. I used it this week end and it seems fine. Grill bars. I had 6mm but preferred the beefy 10mm, being more sturdy. I Always appreciate your great comments!
I guess now it's time for a big one !!! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

Nice build. I think I'd drop the grill down another 25 mils or so to create a lip around it. It might prevent accidentally pushing a snag off into the dirt....
I guess you should bbq steaks on glowing coal instead of flames. Maybe then you won't murder them. ;) Great work and very pleasant to watch!
