    For a smoother spray, shake can for 2 mins, then place in your hottest tap water (which happens to be the max temp at which the spray can be stored 120°) for 5 mins, shake again for 2 mins, then spray. But overall, great video!

    Note to anyone and everyone: use respirator when spraying with that clear coat. It has a hardener that will destroy your lungs. It really does smell like auto quality paint (really really strong permenant marker smell) and leaves a haze in the nearby area that you have to wipe off/clean

    Absolutely sand primer w/ 500 before base coat. & wipe off the spray tip every few passes as fast as you can. Long quick overlapping passes with base. Clear coat should bring it out and make it look alot better. (Wear a respirator also)

    Good job prepping it for paint. Usually turning the can upside down and pressing the cap/nozzle a few times helps purge the tip to avoid getting it clogged and getting a clumpy spray. It says it on the chingadera.

    Just to help you out. Drysand with 320. Spray primer. Wetsand 600 or drysand 500. Spray basecoat. With spray cans, light passes is better than heavy passes. Wait 10min between coats. Spray 2k clear. Slower 75% overlap medium wetcoat. Only need 3 coats. Results are the same as if spraying with a paint gun. I've sprayed it and didn't need to sand and buff. Don't dry mist the last coat if your running out! Just make sure you bought enough for the project. Thats all, Goodluck and keep it up.

    Can you spray 2k clear coat over top coat of paint if you wet sand and buff it?

  • @graffthestreets
    @graffthestreets2 жыл бұрын

    That rough texture is caused by 2 things. 1. Rattle cans are super reduced compared to paint mixed for shooting out of a gun, this causes it to flash off fast and that’s why spray paint has such a fast flash time. This is amplified when it’s hot outside 2. You aren’t lying the paint on thick enough, slow it down a bit there. Your first coat is fine as a tack coat but you’re last coat needs to be a wet coat, I’m talking almost running wet, takes awhile to get a feel for it and good lighting helps a lot. I’ve used rattle cans on my engine bay with 2k clear and every time it turns out looking like glass. No orange peal at all. Also Spray paint likes it to be about 70 degrees or so to look the best.

    Make sure after using cans, (applying) you turn upside down and spray until color of paint becomes clear. Takes a couple seconds every time, and keeps nozzle clean. Those blotches are from not cleaning the nozzle, upside down spray in between use. Dry paint builds up with each use inside nozzle until the flow is compromised and starts splotching like that. Simple after use couple seconds upside down clears and cleans the nozzle, and you are off and running, even good to go after shelved. Nice work friend.

    Good job bro. All it needs is a good machine polish to get rid of the haziness from certain angles and make it completely glossy.

    I painted a door handle with rattle cans before. It turned out perfect. But never tried to paint a whole fender before.

    Looks great! Were you going to wet sand it at all with 3000-5000 grit afterwards and polish or nah?

    I have had fantastic luck as of late with Cans.. I can not justify cleaning my SATA for the cost of a spray can I did half of a Silve bumper cover, and tho you can not blend, it came out great

    It helps putting your cans in warm water before spraying to get less orange peel

    Great video, if you wanted to do the whole car, would you get a spray gun and air compressor, would that be more economical for the paint, primer, and clear coat investments ? Cheers

    The paint code won’t always be in the drivers door jamb. Some may be in the trunk, glovebox or under the hood.

    that's a nice paint job, but dont forget Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust
