Hey mate thanks for your video.. I have a bonnet and the doors sills are faded its a black car as well! If I follow these steps will it look ok.. like no spray lines etc ? Thanks mate
For a smoother spray, shake can for 2 mins, then place in your hottest tap water (which happens to be the max temp at which the spray can be stored 120°) for 5 mins, shake again for 2 mins, then spray. But overall, great video!

There are many components to getting a good result. One plan I found which succeeds in merging these is the Magic Painter Method (check it out on google) definately the most useful info i've seen. Check out this incredible site.
use acetone with a show towel to clean the spray nozzels to prevent build up on the nozzle to prevent the can from spitting it helps alot.

Note to anyone and everyone: use respirator when spraying with that clear coat. It has a hardener that will destroy your lungs. It really does smell like auto quality paint (really really strong permenant marker smell) and leaves a haze in the nearby area that you have to wipe off/clean

Absolutely sand primer w/ 500 before base coat. & wipe off the spray tip every few passes as fast as you can. Long quick overlapping passes with base. Clear coat should bring it out and make it look alot better. (Wear a respirator also)
Good job prepping it for paint. Usually turning the can upside down and pressing the cap/nozzle a few times helps purge the tip to avoid getting it clogged and getting a clumpy spray. It says it on the chingadera.
Makes me want to paint my car. I might have to try this soon.

tip: buy a full can of paint for each panel you intend on painting, and keep the tips from the cans that flow the best. sometimes aerosols have inconsistencies, and they end up as glops. the last 25% of a can is sketchy at best

Can you wet sand base? To get it smoother
Nice touch with showing us the time it takes. so about two hours start to finish with drying time in between. Excellent work buddy!
Just to help you out. Drysand with 320. Spray primer. Wetsand 600 or drysand 500. Spray basecoat. With spray cans, light passes is better than heavy passes. Wait 10min between coats. Spray 2k clear. Slower 75% overlap medium wetcoat. Only need 3 coats. Results are the same as if spraying with a paint gun. I've sprayed it and didn't need to sand and buff. Don't dry mist the last coat if your running out! Just make sure you bought enough for the project. Thats all, Goodluck and keep it up.

Can you spray 2k clear coat over top coat of paint if you wet sand and buff it?
That rough texture is caused by 2 things. 1. Rattle cans are super reduced compared to paint mixed for shooting out of a gun, this causes it to flash off fast and that’s why spray paint has such a fast flash time. This is amplified when it’s hot outside 2. You aren’t lying the paint on thick enough, slow it down a bit there. Your first coat is fine as a tack coat but you’re last coat needs to be a wet coat, I’m talking almost running wet, takes awhile to get a feel for it and good lighting helps a lot. I’ve used rattle cans on my engine bay with 2k clear and every time it turns out looking like glass. No orange peal at all. Also Spray paint likes it to be about 70 degrees or so to look the best.
That fender looks terrific! I like your technique of very light continuing layers of paint and the clear coat as well. Many others are a bit heavy on each coat and tend to run into problems, yet you did really well :)
HA! Yes I giggled at "This little Chinga"
Thank you bro. Most straight forward, realistic, rattle can video out there 🙌🏼
Hektor, thanks man! You covered this job in a simple to understand but detailed manner. You gave me the confidence to try this in my driveway. In my case not looking for perfection just good enough for a beater car and it came out great!
I’d just like to say you have a beautiful family
Also as soon as your done spraying turn the can upside down which will blow straight aerosol through the nozzle to help keep paint from drying inside the valve and clogging the can , causing sputtering paint .
If anyone is planning on doing a lot of painting with a rattle can on your car, I advise you buy a paint can trigger adapter, it will stop you from getting cramped fingers.
Gracias Hektor, effin' Great job!
Hektor, great job! And I’m really excited that I found the links (first time finding the description!)

This could be a good video series of different techniques. Ratchets and Wrenches did a good video that I used on trying to fix the roof of my truck. I got burned on that duplicolor clear coat as the white paint eventually faded and now it’s peeling. That panel looks good.
Best part of the video is your happy family pic. Well, that and the chingadera comments. 😆 GREAT how-to! Thanks for the step by step video.

Agreed. For anyone watching you really should wear at least a half face mask with proper gas/vapor cartridges. This paint has isocyanate in it which will bond to your lungs. The harbor freight respirator will even work to an extent for this. Nice video though, it looks pretty good.

Homie Hektor. Papí I just looked at your real time video. My Brother LOVE THE PAINT JOB! Man it looks MARVELOUS, from a can? My Brother you're SUPERB with your skills! I'm going to try that with my old 2001 PT. Cruiser. Because it needs some touch-ups. Keep making more videos, whenever you have time. I'll like to see you spray over an entire car with some RATTLE CANS! Peace and Love Brother! From the U. S. Virgin Islands.
Hecktor, brah you kill me. Good show! More Chingaderos, por favor.
Looks great!!
This little chinga de- era down here .I'm weak asf 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Make sure after using cans, (applying) you turn upside down and spray until color of paint becomes clear. Takes a couple seconds every time, and keeps nozzle clean. Those blotches are from not cleaning the nozzle, upside down spray in between use. Dry paint builds up with each use inside nozzle until the flow is compromised and starts splotching like that. Simple after use couple seconds upside down clears and cleans the nozzle, and you are off and running, even good to go after shelved. Nice work friend.

Nice result! I Had the same problem splatters occuring with spraypaint. What helps is turning the can upside down and spray (short) between coats. This will actually clean up the nozzle for your next coat.

Thanks Hektor, you really explained that well! I gotta do a whole car using this method D:
The was pretty awesome
Put the cans in the sun to "pressurize" them. If no sun that day, soak 'um in hot water, leave the spray nozzle above and out of the water. Hector, that looks awesome man, I'm impressed!!!
You are spraying in 99 degree weather, that's why the paint is coming out that way. Turned out great by the way, one of the better videos out there.
Def need that clear coat
Good job bro. All it needs is a good machine polish to get rid of the haziness from certain angles and make it completely glossy.
Just came across this. Content was chill. Then I saw the weather and you were from Pomona!! Ayeeeee hell ya. IE babyyyy! Lol you got my follow just for being from the same city as me
I painted a door handle with rattle cans before. It turned out perfect. But never tried to paint a whole fender before.

Looks great! Were you going to wet sand it at all with 3000-5000 grit afterwards and polish or nah?

Good job !!!
I have had fantastic luck as of late with Cans.. I can not justify cleaning my SATA for the cost of a spray can I did half of a Silve bumper cover, and tho you can not blend, it came out great
